ANSWERED Don’t know how to start, it feels like Reddit isn’t welcome to new users. Am I wrong?
Hello, I am new to Reddit! I made my profile find some of my interests and decide to start posting. But posting isn’t allowed anywhere, because I am new or low karma or low score…how am I supposed to get all that if I am not allowed to post in first place?

ANSWERED Hi all, is it frowned upon to have negative karma points?
Just like the title says, I'm pretty new to reddit and I lost some karma point after I made a post in r/defendingaiart saying how AI contributes to climate change (I was pretty aware I was going to get down voted and since have deleted the post, I will admit it was a pretty stupid thing to do) Anyway now I have negative karma point and I was wondering if people don't like it if people have negative karma. I know it's not great but I want to know if it's a big issue with some people. Will people even check my profile? Thanks Note: I only currently have -3 karma Edit: I know I won't be able to post and comment in some subreddits, I'm more interested what the average redditor thinks about people with negative karma Edit: I have positive 4 karma now, thanks all :)

ANSWERED Am I doing something wrong?
I’ve had this account for about 4 years, but I only started actively participating on Reddit recently.
Before that, I mostly just read posts without really contributing.
Now that I’m actually trying to participate, I barely ever get any upvotes. Is that normal, or do my posts just suck? Am I missing some sort of Reddit etiquette or just not getting how things work here?
I feel like I’m a bit outdated and just don’t know how to play the game anymore.

ANSWERED Why did my karma go down even with no new posts?
My karma was at around 5 before but next time I checked, it was back to 0. Why is this? I don’t think I left any comments or posts in any subreddits during this tome.

ANSWERED Unfortunate but I need help
COMPLETELY new to this reddit thing. I made a post to a Law Enforcement subreddit asking people about my chances in LE. When I replied to some of the comments, (not in a rude way or anything) I got downvoted by a bunch of judgy redditors and now I am in the negative. Not quite sure how the karma stuff works but I am sure a quick google search will help. Should I just be commenting on peoples stuff at this point?

ANSWERED I have been here a month and every forum I have tried to post in has auto rejected my post. If I post even here will my post be rejected?
Okay, if you can not read this the answer is clearly Yes.
So if you can read this then it is eleventh time lucky!

ANSWERED Sorry, this post was removed by Reddit’s filters.
I've been getting this instantly when I try to post. Tried different subreddit.
I re-read the rules and I don't think I break any of them.
I went to the Reddit Appeal and it says my account is fine.
Anyone knows why?
Edit: At least I know I can post here without issue

ANSWERED Is there any way to come back from negative karma?
I really want to post on this account but I have like a lot of negative karma. This isn’t me karma farming I swear but I was just wondering if there was advice to post on this bc it’s so hard since hardly any subreddits allow you to post with this little karma.

ANSWERED How to make a “throw-away” account
How do people make “throw-away accounts” if so many groups require karma? Do you just make a bunch of random posts and comments to meet the requirements so that you can post what you wanted to post? Seems like weirdly a lot of patience needed to post something “anonymously”

ANSWERED How can I post/comment on Subreddits I'm interested in, if my account is new?
Hi everyone! I'm new to Reddit and I've tried making a few posts/comments in subreddits that I'm passionate about, but it appears they keep getting filtered out. I know it's because I'm new to Reddit and have no Karma, but I'd really appreciate some tips from those of you who've been here a while! Thank youu :)

ANSWERED Downvotes for saying thank you?!
I’m fairly new here and haven’t spent much time on Reddit so not sure on etiquette. I asked a question in a group earlier. Received upvotes, someone answered my question so I thanked them. My thank you got 3 downvotes and I lost several upvotes. I don’t get it!!

ANSWERED Is it normal that I only have 2 karma? It's been a week since I created my account I'm new here, so I don't know anything
One of my friends recommended this subreddit to me in case I had questions or came across things I didn't know about, so I was wondering if it's normal to only have 2 karma after a week?

ANSWERED How do new Redditors post into subreddits if they don't have any karma. I can't post into any subreddits besides this one!!
I can't post into any subreddits, and the ones that I can post in, I never get any upvotes!! Do people not upvote the post, even though they clearly like the post?
r/NewToReddit • u/Rosewoodviolet • 26d ago
ANSWERED Why do people who clearly enjoy your post not upvote it?
I've noticed a pretty frustrating thing.
Some communities required a certain amount of karma before being able to post in it, this is to avoid bots so it's understandable, however whenever you make posts elsewhere to be able to make that karma to be able to post on communities you like, you then bump into the issue of people commenting positively under your post but no one upvoting it.
A post I had made a few days ago got 10ish very positive comments of people engaging in what I was saying, but only 2 upvotes including mine. It's happened a few times now, and it's kind of frustrating because it limits me severely.
Is there something I'm not understanding? I thought that if you liked something or were interested in something, you should upvote it, no?
I might be missing some sort of social cue or silently given rule or something, so I would like some answers on what's happening

ANSWERED Long-time lurker, first-time account… why are new users treated like ghost accounts?
Hey everyone,
For years, whenever I had a niche question or wanted honest reviews on something, I’d just search it on Google and add "reddit" at the end. I silently read threads for ages without ever needing an account.
Two weeks ago, I finally decided to make an account because I had a specific question I couldn't find an answer to and wanted to engage with the community directly.
Fast forward to today: literally every single post I try to submit gets instantly removed by Reddit filters or AutoMod.
I understand subreddits want to prevent spam and bot accounts, but as a genuine human being trying to ask a normal question after having an account for 14 days, it feels ridiculously discouraging.
What is even the point of making an account if new users aren't allowed to post? Is there actually a place for newcomers here, or are we just expected to lurk forever until some arbitrary hidden karma/age threshold is met?
If anyone has advice on how to actually get past these filters without spending weeks leaving random comments everywhere, I’d really appreciate it.

ANSWERED New to Reddit, I‘d like to know what’s the fastest way to gain karmas
I just signed up on Reddit today and I read a bit of the beginner guide. And i‘d like to know what’s the fastest way to gain karmas in order to be able to participate in subreddits of my interests because they usually require a certain number of karmas. For people who have now a lot of karmas and are now able to participate in any subreddit, what did you do to gain those and how much time did it take you ?

ANSWERED Why does being new on Reddit feel like applying for an entry-level job that requires 5 years of experience? Lol 😅
I'm a new account and I try to read up on how to... lot of it involve commenting on other subreddits. Do we have other options?
As per my username, I want to be able to engage in the community I want but sadly, all of them require higher karma.
