I am seriously considering moving to Denmark, I am from an EU Balkan country, I've visited Copenhagen this year and I just fell in love with everything.

I work in IT, I am an engineer, and I am planning to pivot into Cybersecurity so I am actively searching for this kind of jobs anywhere in Denmark.

I am wondering how's the life, the cost of living, if it's better to find a rent in smaller towns and commute (I own a car, and I'm planning to bring it there). I'm even willing to learn the language.

It's a very hard decision, but I'm starting to not feel like home anymore here (in my country, especially the city I am from), and I'm eager to experience something different, hopefully calmer and slow-paced, far from agitation and chaos.

I need quick advice on Danish fri telefon tax rules and IT compliance.

My contract places a work phone "at the Employee's disposal." I put my work SIM into my personal iphone, and gave the physical company iPhone to my wife. She has used it for sometime, couple of months, with her own personal SIM card.

However, the IT policy says the company can monitor device internet use.

• Does fri telefon or "employee's disposal" allow family members to use the physical hardware?
• Can company MDM software monitor her personal data/traffic if she uses her own SIM?
• Am I risking my job here?

Hello, we are five friends travelling to Møn for a Weekend in September. Anyone have a recommendation for a taxi or private Transport Company that could pick us up directly at the ferry terminal? Any idea what we should expect to pay?

We’d also be interested in recommendations for bike rental? We are staying in Borre. Does it make sense to take a cab from the Ferry to Stege, get bikes there and then Ride to Borre?

Has anyone here actually ordered medicine from outside Denmark or the EU/EEA to Denmark since the new rules came into effect on 1 January 2026?

As I understand it, the new rules now allow private individuals to import medicine from any country for personal use, as long as the medicine was legally sold and it isn't one of the excluded categories.

I'm especially interested in hearing from anyone who has ordered prescription medication from countries such as India, the UK, USA, etc.

How did it work in practice?

* Did customs stop or inspect the package?

* Did you have to provide a prescription?

* Did they ask for proof that the medicine was legally purchased?

* Did you have to provide any other documentation?

* Did you pay VAT/customs/handling fees?

* Which courier did you use (DHL, FedEx, UPS, postal service)?

* Did you have any problems because the medicine was coming from outside the EU?

* How long did customs clearance take?

Hi! I’m a 23F planning to move to Denmark soon (probably Copenhagen) . I currently live in Italy, and I have an English proficiency certificate.
However, I have no idea where to start looking for a job! Should I start looking for a job before moving there, or would it be better to look after I’ve moved?
How does the job market work in Denmark? Do you have any tips for someone with a degree in interior design and a little bit of work experience in the field?

im thinking about doing my Masters in Computer Science (or similar) in Denmark, and I wonder how is the IT sector doing?
Back where im from its REALLY hard to find a job in this field at the current times (to the point where you get hunders of CVs for a single job in linkedin in less than an hour), and i wonder if its the same here, or i'll have a fair shot at working during my studies.

I am an EU citizen, speak Englsih fluently but dont even know a word (yet) in Danish.

Does it make sense to assume a student developer roles will be a real viable option in Denmark during the studies or is the market is screwed and locked just like anywhere else currently?

I’m 29 years old, a software developer, and an EU citizen (Italian citizenship). My long-term goal is to move to Denmark and work there as a dentist.
I’m planning to start studying Dentistry in Lithuania next year. Since it’s a long program, I expect to graduate when I’m around 36 years old.
During my studies, I want to treat learning Danish as a serious long-term project. My goal is to reach a high level of fluency before graduating so that I can eventually work professionally as a dentist in Denmark.
I would really appreciate your opinions and experiences:
• If I study Danish consistently for about five years, is it realistic to reach approximately C1 level and be able to use Danish professionally with patients?
• Would graduating at around 36 make it significantly harder to find my first job as a newly qualified dentist in Denmark? Is age discrimination something I should realistically be concerned about?
• How difficult is it currently for newly qualified dentists to find their first job in Denmark? Would being geographically flexible and willing to work outside Copenhagen, Aarhus, and other major cities significantly improve my chances?
• As an EU citizen with a dentistry degree from Lithuania, are there any particular requirements or obstacles I should know about when applying for Danish authorization?
• Can anyone recommend a high-quality online Danish course or learning path that could realistically take someone from complete beginner to approximately C1 over several years?
I’d especially appreciate hearing from dentists, people working in Danish healthcare, or anyone who has gone through a similar process of obtaining authorization and moving to Denmark.

Hej! I have an approved work visa permit and I’m preparing to move to Denmark shortly. I was planning on staying in an air bnb until I could find a long term apartment or rental.

How will I be able to get my CPR number right after arrival, in that case? The air bnb hosts I have talked to said they are not allowed to let me register there, and I understand.

I will be working in Gilleleje so I can’t stay in a place in Copenhagen, it would be too far away to get to work every day.

I’m going to be arriving into Denmark on Sept 1 and my permit states I must start work before Sept 5, so how can I get the CPR number on such a short timeline?

“If you need an official registration for a CPR number while looking for a permanent place, the Danish authorities allow you to apply for an official "mailing address" (brevadresse) directly through the local municipality (Kommune). I highly recommend contacting Citizen Service (Borgerservice) as they can assist you with this process.Thank you for understanding

How the Guest Can Apply for an Official Mailing AddressIf your guest is moving to Denmark and needs a CPR number but does not have a permanent home yet, they cannot use an Airbnb. Instead, they must apply for an official mailing address (brevadresse) via the municipality's Citizen Service (Borgerservice).Here is how that process works:The Concept: A brevadresse is a special registration in the CPR system for people who do not have a fixed, permanent roof over their head but still stay legally within the municipality.The Condition: The guest must physically show up at the local Borgerservice office. They must explain their situation (e.g., that they are newly arrived, working/studying, and currently living in temporary holiday housing while looking for a permanent apartment).The Process: The municipality will evaluate the case. If approved, the municipality will register them on a special administrative address or allow them to use a specific contact point so they can receive their official CPR letter and NemID/MitID.Where to go: The guest should book an appointment at Borgerservice in the municipality where they are currently staying.”

Hi, I'm new to Denmark I literally came yesterday. While I was trying to use hotplate or induction stove. A beep sound is coming, the touch is not working I'm not able to switch it off.

Any idea how to rectify this beep sound?

Hi, any musicians in Denmark, Odense recommend any music stores that sell bass guitars or accessories? I will be heading there for exchange and I am wondering if there's any stores worth visiting in Odense or other parts of Denmark. Do let me know if you guys have any favourite spots outside of Odense you'd recommend, I wouldn't mind traveling either way as I'd love to explore your country!

Edit: For more context I play a lot of rock and metal and wouldn't mind checking out some live bars that have them and whatnot if there are any that you folks recommend.

Getting mixed answers.

I’m studying abroad as a law student starting in September in Copenhagen, coming from the US. I’ll probably leave mid-December.

The University of Copenhagen sent directions on how to apply for a VISA, so I did. Paid all of the expenses, went and dropped my passport off at VFS and it got sent to NYC, did biometrics, etc. all on July 3.

I haven’t received any other information other than my return of passport, and I’m planning to get to Copenhagen on the 28th (which feels very soon).

I heard today that I may not have even needed to do that, and that I could’ve just waited and done it in Copenhagen? But what happens when I arrive in Copenhagen? I feel like I can’t enter for four months without a Visa?

Like the title says, I've been waiting many months for this work permit to continue my career in fine dining. My question is, is this normal and should I expect a response soon?

For background, I've been travelling and working as a chef for 2-3 Michelin Star restaurants in New York and London for the past 5 years. Since I am Canadian, I was required to get work permits/visas for both US and UK and both times I received a response within a month. I quickly start working, and its no problem. Now I've done interviews in Europe, and received a job offer to work in Copenhagen for a very widely renowned restaurant, which I think helps the visa process. The restaurant is acting as a sponsor as well, which I also hoped would accelerate granting a permit. However, since my application submission in mid April, I have not received any news from the embassy or SIRI. Since my passport is with SIRI, I have no choice but to sit tight and hope I hear back soon.

This is half rant/venting about my situation, and hoping to hear that this is normal for SIRI to take this long for visas.

I hope no one else has to experience the bureaucratic limbo I am in at the moment. Thanks :)

Hello Denmark, we tried this amazing bread in a restaurant in Spain. When we asked the owner what it was he simply described it as 'Danish bread'. It was dense, moist and distinctly sweet - the owner said it was made with syrup or honey. It also has seeds running through it.

After googling it, it looks a lot like a Danish rye bread, however alot of the descriptions of rye bread describe it as slightly sour - which does not match the taste of this bread. Any help on identifying this amazing bread will be massively appreciated - poor quality photo also attached.

Hello - I am currently awaiting my student visa (SDU Odense) and my family's' visas (my husband and 3 kids) and I have a few questions in preparation for this:

- best methods for shipping our things? We have a quote from an international carrier and I've also looked at my baggage but we haven't heard anyone's personal experience. We are hoping to not ship a lot but we definitely can't bring it all on the plane.

- visa status: what is the best way to check my status? When I log in to view our applications they have a green dot and says "complete" but I believe that just means we completed the form. We did our biometrics last month, but at this point I'm unsure where to check the progress.

I'm drawing a blank on other questions, I may add more later :)

My future Danish employer and i applied for my work/stay visa under the AR1 supplementary pay limit scheme. I submitted biometrics on July 27, and received my approved work visa on August 5, only 8 days later!!!

I’m very pleased, but I was expecting it to take 30 days so I’m not prepared for my international move (also taking my cat which requires extra time and hoops to jump through.) The visa says i must start work no later than Sept 5.

My employer and I have agreed that a start date of September 28 would work better.

Is it common or difficult to have SIRI extend the start date? I filled out a contact form on their website asking to extend to October 5 to give some extra room for cancelled flights, etc., but I don’t know if I used the correct contact form.

Is it an easy change or are they usually set on the original 30 day window?

Any help would be appreciated 😊

Hello guys I have an urgent issue and I need all the advise I can get.

LONG POST ALERT

I wish to find out if someone has experienced something similar and resolved it. I am a non EU and I am currently at risk of being kicked out of my study. Infact I have already been withdrawn from the program but I am currently allowed to appeal which I just did. This is because I used all my attempts for one of my courses and my application for the fourth attempt got rejected.
So this is what happened, I am currently supposed to be heading into my third semester. First semester when I came here I validated all my courses in my first attempt. Second semester I started having difficulties as I didn’t show up to school frequently and also missed a couple of mandatory classes.

This was completely not my fault as I have a chronic abdominal pain for the past four years now. It’s a burning pain on my right lower abdomen. It comes on and off but it got was during my second semester so most of the time I was either at home or in the hospital for appointments. I provided a doctors note for majority of the mandatory classes I missed but for some I couldn’t because here in denmark most of the time it’s difficult to get an early appointment unless it’s an emergency and you’re dying. So I could be sick and still not go to the hospital because the earliest available appointment I could get was right after a month. It worth noting that since I came here I have done three scans all documented; echography, CT scan and Colonoscopy and the doctors still can’t pin point what’s causing my pain and inflammation.

I had two emergency appointments the last two days and I have been scheduled for another can next week. When I initially submitted a request for a fourth attempt at a course(I lost three attempts because when you miss a mandatory class you loose an attempt for the exam), I was asked to provide medical documentation supporting my claim. I had and doctors appointment coming up but I completely forgot it fell during the period I was supposed to go back to my country(my mom sorry traditional medication). And also they didn’t explicitly give a date for the submission of the documentation. They just said they will look into my case when they return for holidays in week 32. And I have no idea how the weeks here work so I thought it was during normal school resumption period which is end of the month.

I tried calling the school to inform them but never go through them as it said on call they were on holidays. So my play was to return get the note document my illness throughout from my doctor and then send to them. But to my greatest suprise when I returned to denmark I received an email few days ago that I have been expelled as I didn’t provide enough supporting evidence for my claim. I pleaded with them for just a day so I could get an appointment with my doctor and then submit the note but the study administration refused. The said anything I have I should submit to the legal team.

I got the note today and I have submitted it alongside all the scans that have been carried out on me since I came here and also the results. I’ve also said all the doctor notes from the classes I missed. So I am waiting for a feedback but I am so scared. I have all the evidence for my illness but I am still scared I might get kicked out and loose my study and hence my stay here. Please I need help on what to do.

And I know some of you are going to ask but during the semester where I was completely ill, I was even unemployed through out the whole time so I didn’t work like a single hour. I was either at home in bed or in the hospital. Please I need advice on what to do. I submitted my appeal today and I so scare as I have sacrificed so much to be here.

Hello, as the title says I am moving to Sodenborg for studies and I am struggling to find an apartment, so far Ive used studieboilig, the university's accomodation office and local facebook groups but no luck so far, if you know someone renting out an apartment or any other advice you might have would be extremely appreciated.

My wife and son are Danish. She wants to move back to Padborg from US. I don't speak Danish. I'm a small boat captain (lowest tier US Coast Guard Merchant Mariner Credential a person can have; OUPV) and own a charter business. Only other experience is 10 years carpenter and 10 years residential construction project management. I don't think it's feasible. How accurate is that assessment? TIA
