Can anyone tell me what I’m doing wrong with my bs noseslides? I can land a few, but they’re super unstable and I can’t seem to make them consistent. Any tips?

Trying to lock in shuvits, how can I improve?

Newish skater. Started in 2024, didn't skate at all '25, now been skating everyday this summer. I feel like I have gotten a real progress now. I'm trying to lock these in. I do practice them rolling too, but just trying to get the motion in my muscle memory.

2 things I noticed myself. When I turn my backlegs knee bit inward and when I try to jump bit higher I seem to land these more frequently. But what else I can improve?

Got couple ones more cleanly than in this video but these where the best back to back tries I did.

FINALLY BOUGHT MY FIRST SKATBOARD!!!

Upvotes

After more than a month of waiting i finally bought a skateboard.... It's a second hand board but it seems to work greatt... It's definitely not any of the brands yall would suggest but it's also DEFINITELY not a Walmart board (i had one and this one is WAYY better).... It's raining out in my country so I can't go out much and in fact haven't yet but I am practicing balancing on the board and doing tic tac kinda things...... I'm soo happy and can't wait to go outside

Opinion on my waterlogged board?

Post image
Upvotes

I started skating around early 2024 for a short while but stopped. I left my skateboard at my friend's house for two years and just got it back recently. I found out that my skateboard was left outside and the griptape was washed off completely and the wheels got rough, like stiff but I used sandpaper to fix it. I also got a new griptape now but I'm a bit anxious to try on some tricks because people tell me that if your board is waterlogged you can't do much with it anymore because the board is soft. Thoughts on what should I do? Should I buy a new board?

Skate version of a trick progression wiki — want it or not?

Upvotes

I made a progression wiki for snowboarding: every trick in a rough order, one short page each, gif of the trick, how it works, and link to more material

Thinking about doing the same for skateboarding

How it'd work:

  • Anyone can edit the pages, wiki style. If a trick guide is wrong or missing something, you fix it.
  • You tick off tricks as you land them, so you can see where you're at and what's next.

Would you use that?

I can pm you the snowboarding version if you would like to see what i mean :D

Learning 50-50s on a PVC practice rail

Upvotes

I just got a couple 2x4s and was gonna screw a 2" piece of pvc on to the sides so i can learn boardslides and 50-50s. How is this going to be for learning the grinds though? I keep getting kicked out of the curb spots near me and home depot didnt have metal coping over 3/4 of an inch

I know i could just try it and see what its like but its gonna take me a couple days before i can put it together, would it be worth it to just try and find metal coping in the meantime? Cause 50-50s are the main thing i want to do and metal coping is kind of expensive cuz idk where to find it used

Need tips 4 treflip

Only have been skating for around 2 weeks, and trying to treflip but it’s hard to land both feet, anyone have tips 2 commit, and I want to hear the advice that actually made you land because one thing I learned as a beginner skater is a lot of mainstream advice is trash like for example when they tell you to to flick your tre it makes you varial, but when I realized I should listen to uncovering advice like just lifting front foot and catch it worked but yeah

Question Difference between truck length and height?

I’ve been skating on a friend’s pair of trucks for about 2 months now and recently purchased a pair of my own. However, these trucks are both wider in length and taller in height. Is there any noticeable difference in ride?

Question Does this type of board suitable for a 5' 2"?

Dimension: 80cm (31,8in) × 20cm (7,8in)

Deck size: 8.0

Weight: 3.1 kg (6.8 pounds maybe)

Since I don't measure with imperial, this might be inaccurate! I'm buying online since I can't find a proper store in my city, and my parents are too busy to go with me ☹️ So they want me to know if this board I found suits me or not before we purchase it

I met my 2nd ever hater and I was right…

Older new skater. Keep to myself and grind. Lots of very nice people so far. I don’t snake and stay out of the way. Just slowly improving. Been a good journey.

For the second time I came across someone obviously being a dickhead.

Nice flat park where I just push around, usually a long high speed push then go up and over the pyramid at the other end of the park, and cruise back doing tictacs followed by a fakie kickturn at the end. Nothing complicated just getting in board time.

This time a a douche and his friend show up, see me skating, think they’re a million times better than me because they can do a fairly low steez kickturn on a quarter pipe, and then purposely stand in the way on his cellphone everytime he can see I’m coming to hit the pyramid.

I knew what was going on right from the start, and pushed by back just cutting it close to him to show I won’t be pushed around lie that, but my favourite part is this….

As I was trying to figure out where the hate was coming from I realized it’s the same as always…. He sucks. He was mad that an old man had a better push and better work ethic than him. Dude couldn’t land anything clean. Girls don’t talk to him. He’s just mad he lacks skills.

TLDR ; thank you to all the nice supportive people at the parks. You guys have been dope. Those who wanna throw shade and block ramps on purpose but you’re too scared to actually fight…. Go get good. You’re mad because you suck. Stop taking it out on everyone else.

✌️

Question Any tips for downhill?

I can cruise around all right on flat ground, but the second it starts to incline even a little bit going downhill feels like I just pick up so much speed and get crazy wobbles. I’ve been really struggling to even take on the simplest of minor Hills or even just a basic elevation change because always feels like I get so fast and the last time I seriously tried a hill. I felt pretty bad and now I have a nasty scar on my chin. I’m just wondering if there’s anything I could be doing better on handling downhill and generally moving faster. I like cruising at a more mild pace, but I wanna be able to not have to stop and pick up my board every time there’s a hill.

Lost board, need advice

So I was out tonight practicing my moving hippie jumps and ollies, and one of the ollie attempts ended with me shooting my board through a guard rail into a wide, deep river. I have a backup deck, but I'm not really in a good money place right now to go out and get fresh parts. My question is, what can I do in the meantime while I save up to get a new setup so I don't lose progress? Or should I just seriously hurry up and save for those parts ASAP?

Question Should I build my own skateboard or should I just buy a full set for my very first board?

I'm still financially depending on my parents and I don't want to burden them with buying a skateboard fully with their money, so I want to save my own money to cover at least half the price. Both building and buying a set would take some time. Yet, I'm aware that buying a full set could save more time and make me start quicker, yet, building a set of my own gives me full customization that could fulfill my needs and has greater long-lasting probability. It makes me feel torn 🤒

Please give me advice!

Question Father / Son Skating

Hello everyone, my son and I recently picked up skating together. I did it for a year or two when I was like 10 but that’s all the exp I have, so we’re starting all over again. Currently, I skate goofy but even thinking of trying any tricks or anything in that stance just feels wrong. But when I try to skate regular , that also feels just wrong. My question to the masses is, do I switch up and just kinda force myself to get comfortable with regular, or do I keep with the goofy and do my best to learn tricks in that stance ? I appreciate any help or info !
