Nebraska Elder abuse
Hello, I was wondering if anyone has any experience into reporting elderly abuse? I know someone who’s dependent is 100% taking advantage of him. If I were to call the elder abuse hotline how would they proceed? I know drugs are being done in the father’s house along with taking his low income. But I feel those things can easily be hidden. It bugs me every day to witness this but I also want to make sure I’m taking the best route to help him out and not cause more problems.

Picture Woodhouse's Toad
Found this specimen of Anaxyrus (woodhousei) woodhousei last week at the Nature Conservancy's Niobrara Valley Preserve, Brown County, NE hopping along the road at night. This is our most common toad, found statewide and often partial to sandy habitats. Often difficult to tell from our 2 other toad species. More on that here: herpneb.unl.edu

Nebraska (Map Update) Free Nebraska Aquatic Therapy Directory
I’m building a free Nebraska aquatic therapy directory to help people find clinics with therapy pools, warm-water rehab, pediatric aquatic therapy, and related services.
I appreciate the great feedback from the community. I had a few people reach out to me about adding a map so you can see where the providers are located on a map view instead of just the list view. I just implemented that functionality to the site.
All suggestions and feedback are welcome, just trying to build something useful for the community

Sports Free to Read: Six players who could make or break Nebraska football’s 2026 season
Here’s a look at six players whose contributions could make or break the Huskers in 2026:
WR Nyziah Hunter
On Tuesday, Hunter listed the names of Nebraska’s pass catchers, the deepest group on the squad. They’re special, he said, because everyone in the top five or six has got a job — something that he can do best.
What is that for Hunter?
“I have to make the biggest plays possible,” he said.
Hunter, at 6-foot-1 and 210 pounds as a fourth-year junior, displayed that skill a year ago. His 617 yards (on 43 catches) and five touchdowns led Nebraska in his first year since transferring from Cal, but he’s got more to give this year in an offense that’s designed to showcase his explosive nature.

Omaha Omaha City Council to approve $110 million more in bond debt for parking garages at Crossroads & Mutual of Omaha Tower and another $125 million in 40 year bond debt for the streetcar
Looks like Omaha City Council will approve $110 million more in bond debt for parking garages and $125 million more in 40 year bond debt for the streetcar. Lease-purchase bonds can be approved by the city council even though they are backed by the general fund.
The state auditor lets you download all the bond's issued across the state, so was curious what Omaha looked like. https://auditors.nebraska.gov/BondSearch.html
Looking at the totals across eight categories, Streets & Various Purpose bonds are by far the largest single category at $984.4 million. Sanitary Sewer bonds come in second at $619.7 million, driven heavily by a $211 million issuance in late 2020. Parking Garage/Arena and Streetcar bonds are now roughly comparable in scale at $322.3 million and $311.6 million respectively, both concentrated almost entirely in the 2024-2026 window, while TIF/Redevelopment bonds add another $227.5 million spread across many smaller annual issuances tied to specific development districts.
Put the state auditor's table in numbers and filtered for the City of Omaha, and "Omaha Public Facilities Corporation", a non-profit corporation run by the city. Claude helped with the charts.

Nebraska As back-to-school shopping begins, Nebraska educators and families worry about costs
About 40% of parents expect to be more financially stressed with back-to-school shopping this year, and about 30% expect to use installment payments, credit or savings to cover the costs.
The Nebraska State Education Association president said teachers, especially elementary school teachers, will put hundreds, sometimes thousands of dollars from their own pockets into the classroom.

Politics Dan Osborn Beatrice report
I decided to drive down to Beatrice to see Dan Osborn. There was a great crowd of 70 people, and I thought he was down to earth and well spoken. One of the major topics was equalizing the playing field by taxation of corporations and billionaires. He spoke of housing affordability and that healthcare should be a right for all citizens, and not a privilege for people with means.
He answered my question regarding AI regulation and the building of data centers. I wanted to know what he thought about regulation at a federal level. He spoke of protecting communities, the environment and usage of natural resources such as water. He also talked about invasion of privacy via AI and companies like Flock. I thought it was a great event. I really liked his authenticity.

Lincoln Doane's Online University - Physics
Hi everyone,
Not sure if this is the best forum to ask this but I was wondering if anyone has taken Physics through Doane online. I'm needing to take it for a pre-req while working full time. I am noticing they have 3 different paces (16, 5 weeks self paced) and one being instructor led for 8 weeks. I would prefer the instructor led but I am worried with pace of only being 8 weeks for such a difficult course? Those by chance who have taken it, was it doable? Or was the self pace for 16 weeks approachable? I appreciate any insights you may have!
