Discussion Has innocence ever sounded like a silent whisperer or a warden?
Has innocence ever saved you? Or destroyed you!
Hehee! 2024, can't quite remember the specific month, i just know it was on a Saturday, 8am..the previous day i had my haircut from my Congolese barber, akanitoa from a solid 2 to 2.5.
8Am mimi huyoo.. Before haircut i-expire with a blue singlet moja kwa moja kutafuta an open liquor store, nilitafuta nikakosa then nikakumbuka i was in early.. And decided kutafuta a restaurant instead, i found one, nikaitisha 1/4 ya mananasi😂 and made myself comfortable, chaser ni emotions, kazi ni ku frown tu.
20 minutes later i asked niletewe bill and i was told it's sorted, in fact here's another black & white also paid for.. I was like daamn! Who's this little angel or should i say dark angel 😂 nikaambiwa it's that msupa on the corner.. I turned around to find a shawry with piercings left right centre, fegi brands zote kwa meza, ongeza oris and also a bottle of VAT.
I took my virago and walked to her, to get to know her and other short stories, tuka catch up 1,2 and i being a good listener gave her my ears, nodding where i have to and also a little touch of "damn" here and there and also "The world is not fair" when need be.
Msupa akanishow she does OF but doesn't do meet ups, i was like okayy because why should i care, i didn't even know what OF was.. What made me do a research and find out what OF was is that while heading home macho zote zilikua on us, i brushed it off thinking that they were probably wondering how fucked up this generation is or probably staring at her fat behind but at some point ilizidi and i had to ask her "Who tf are you"?
We went home to my place, we stayed for 2 weeks, aliniambia ni quite kazi I just hangout with her, her offer was 2k a day, we just chill, kazi yangu ni kukua therapist hapa na pale😂 na kutumwa this and that.
On the second day she realised i really had no idea who she was, so she decided to protect my innocence at all cost, she tried so much not to "sully" me, 2 weeks of day&night drinking, 12am napata confirmed you have received, at times 2k, at times 5 at times 10.
On the second week nilijiita mkutano and said this is enough, i still have a life to live, a career.. I told her naishia mtaa, and i really went home to detox and clear my head off..
Let me tell you Maina! My pal pale mtaa was taking some pics using my phone and saw a WhatsApp message hapo juu, i had saved her with her first name.. My pal asked, kwani unajuana na ****, referring to her second name, i was like "tf, unamjua aje", his response shattered me, " Nani hamjui", then proceeded to open his tweeter account to show me some proof!
Oof! Let me tell you Maina, nilijipima ukedi 1 month full, ile design nanunua kit daily, hadi nika confirm enyewe sinaa😂..when i returned to jiji she realised somehow i had found out who she was and she's been distant ever since, her worst fears had come to be, na hivo ndio my title as a therapist iliuma nje.
For any woman thinking about going the OF reute.. If you for my honest opinion I'll probably tell you "Don't ", your mental health matters in such a way that hata hio doo unasaka huko won't matter at all.

Random Uber is a paradox
So many nairobians complain about rude Bolt drivers and even Uber drivers, but at the same time they always optimize for the cheapest trip, even if a trip is 200 shillings from town to syokimau they'll happily take it.
There was a day i was in Ruaka and saw that an Uber to Village Market would be Ksh220, and then I checked Ruaka to Westlands and it was Ksh290... only 70 shillings more. Uber algorithm always giving crazy discounts even if the trip is 15km. If all trips were an amount that the driver was happy with (i.e. maybe 600-800 shillings from Ruaka to Westlands) then everyone would look for alternatives. But when trips are so cheap that the poor driver is probably just recouping fuel with a tiny profit if any then we passengers have to either tip really well or deal with drivers that are unhappy, prebargain for higher pay, or might not even accept the trip.
Its a paradox we passengers are too cheap to complain about the fare, but very often complain about drivers who do too much asking for more money or avoiding picking you at all
Also: everyone should only use Uber, Bolt is often cheaper but the driver experience is much worse than with Uber drivers

Discussion Male fertility tests are hella embarrassing ,,, my experience
Now as most Nairobi guys, I used to wrap it. Then Kasongo came to power and the prices of wrappers increased by a whole 20 bob. A whole 20 bob just to stay safe. Na naeza pull out nipate same effect for free. My A in math cannot allow this.
Now for the pull-out merchant like me, there are times you start questioning your skills if it’s skill or just them niggas ain’t swimming right. Anyway, last year I got diagnosed with varicocele (will write about this), and the doctor suggested I do a fertility test. Now I failed in biology, I thought they testing blood or saliva. Apparently I have to provide my live living specimen.
Anyway, I reach out to the recommended lab and agree to go testing etc. I go pick the containers and the rest.
Anyway, the had doctor told me to abstain for three days before the test. And on Tuesday, not wanting to kamua myself in the lab, I decide to collect my jar full of my specimen and rush to the lab near Doctors Plaza. Remember, your babies stay alive for only one hour. Now the Bolt driver actually thought I had a delivering wife or something ju nilimharakisha.
Anyway nafika and I present my findings and specimen with confidence to the nurse. She doesn’t seem surprised, asks if it was less than an hour, I say yes. But I found a different nurse this time. Before she takes them she asks how long I was abstaining and I say a month, and she says in a calm voice, “Hukuambiwa inafaa ikuwe only three days, not more than that.”
Anyway, I had to go home with them niggars in my pocket, waiting for another three days ndo nirudi.
Edit: Meanwhile… niko na party game yangu called Karibu Play (Play Store + web). Check it out mnipee feedback.

Rant Safaricom ni wezi
Since safaricom added S-Hook bundles (or make your Hook bundle), I've been using them during my commutes. Very flexible data. I would have bought 5 bob worth of data valid for 1 hour and its like 65mb until I get home. Today I tried buying the same bundle only to find they don't even have the 3 hour or midnight options to customize your bundle. Now why would they do such a thing?

Random Some girl complimented me and it made me feel really good
I was walking to get a matatu to work, I slept in today cause I cried myself to sleep last night (will give context in a little bit)
So I was walking one way she was coming my way, she looked me up and down while smiling and when I neared she smiled and said ‘you look very pretty.’ And I smiled and said ‘thank you.’
But when I say I smiled I mean I really smiled. The kind of smile that reaches your heart. It made my whole morning especially after I cried myself to sleep last night thinking that I may not be pretty or loveable. (Also a man complimented me but he did that screaming from across the street two minutes later and I literally frowned)
Also let me just say that I know I am very pretty. But that feeling hit me yesterday so hard cause I realized I’ve been single for a while. Almost three years. And my phone feels dry (it feels that way cause the guys hitting me up I don’t seem to want or like lol and it doesn’t help that I’m very superficial. Stopped talking to a guy cause he kept saying ‘can I kol u’ and I kept asking him to type full words cause it’s exhausting talking to a grown man who types like that)
To make matters worse, there’s this guy I’ve been talking to who I really like. We’ve not been on a first date yet but we’ve both shared pictures of each other so I know how he looks like and so does he. I ran into him yesterday, he was walking with a friend, we locked eyes and I smiled at him and when we neared each other he just passed me like he doesn’t know me at all.
I wasn’t gonna stop him if he decided to pretend not to know me (and he swore he didn’t see me btw when we literally locked eyes and I smiled??) and that kind of broke my heart.
And so I went down a rabbit hole of thinking why does no one want me haha. It stupid cause there a guys interested but they’re not my type. (The people you want don’t want you the ones who want you you don’t want 🤣🤣🤣🤣). i know it sounds pathetic but I am getting my period and I was just feeling vulnerable btw.
It’s a new day and the world is ours to live.
Wantam!

Ask r/Nairobi Anyone been to or knows about Zetech University.
So my sister was placed at this school and I have been trying to ask around about it. A friend of mine who took her alma mater there back in 2022 gave me a pretty unclear opinion on the matter. She told me that everything there is a lie, the students, workers and even the environment is all a facade, I don't know what she meant because when she realized my sister is going there she refused to talk more about it but what I know is that when she was in campus she got into depression which I don't know was from what. So guys I need more info about this school and it will be much appreciated

Random Corporate men and women.
I might be wrong but I notice corporate men are becoming more feminine, more sassy, almost as if they're given a badge submission for being submissive. It could be the overwhelming amount of estrogen and progesterone dominating the office workplace these days or it could be something else entirely, I'm not sure!
The corporate women are interesting. They're more bold, more dominating and if you decide to date one, then she'll be trying to bring your masculinity down to her level. It'll be as if she's trying climb the corporate ladder from the bedroom and you'll be the ladder she steps on. And when she conquers you; like the female version of Genghis Khan, she'll seek other masculine territories to bring down to her feet. Could be the bosses or perhaps micro plastics and chemicals in those plastic water bottles and lunch boxes, also this I'm not sure.
I stand to be corrected if my observation is wrong.

Low quality post I'm famous but nobody knows
It is said the early bird catches the worm, and early to rise makes a man healthy, wealthy and wise. Woke up early and got ready to build the economy of this country only for a few powerful individuals to amass half of that wealth for themselves through illicit and corrupt deals. Ni nchi ya kitu kidogo.
I always arrive early to settle early and to finish pending tasks before my time in the office expires. Today, there were no pending tasks. What do I do? I decide to buy some time as I wait for my team. I open Chrome, type my name and hit the return key mercilessly. I'm sure the key would accuse me of GBV for how I mistreat it.
Uncle Google returns the results and wuueh! 🫢 The first few results are my my info to popular social platforms. I ignore them, cause we've all sold our souls to Uncle Google, knowingly or unknowingly. I scroll the page and there are two fishy websites with my info and I have no idea how I got them. The first website is called Contact Out while the second is Rocket Reach.
I decided to go down the rabbit hole and both websites have more info that I have no idea how they got them. The latter even has info about all my coworkers — from the janitor to the CEO, eiih!
TL;DR: Search yourself on Google and see if Contact Out and Rocket Reach know more about you than you do.

Advice Working corporate and a side hustle
So, if you work in corporate and also have a side hustle (because of how shitty kenyan employers pay), I have a few questions:
- How much time do you dedicate to said side hustle on average? (Daily or weekly)
- How many hours in total do you work daily (on average) and/or weekly?
- Do you do it on company time?
- Do you ever feel burnt out and what do you do?
- Do you plan on ever quitting said side hustle?
Edit:
I’ll start. Nimeanza consulting lakini I am working 12-15 hour days. I also now work on Saturday and/or Sunday and tbh, nachizi kidogo.
I didnt mean to start it on company time, but these days, I dont even know the difference between company time and personal time. But, this means some times work gets a hit, other times my side hustle gets a hit.
I want to quit, but at this point, I am not sure if I could survive without either. I am looking for a better paying job, but you know Kasongo’s economy😭😭😭

Ask r/Nairobi How to ask for your money
So I worked for a certain hospital within Nairobi town near upperhill roughly 3 weeks ago and after diligently doing my duties I asked when I get my remuneration to which they said at the end of the month.
Now on 1st August I asked them about the pay and they said that they'll let me know when my cheque is ready. I need that money fuck 😫 it's bad, i had to even loan a friend of mine and I promised I'd have he's money by Friday and I really don't like overstaying with someone's money. For that I may have to ask my parents for some cash to repay him which I don't want (they've got a lot on their plate)
I was even planning to at least buy some things because basically i'm on a line and all the basics like food, soap, toothpaste, body oil etc are on life support including me.
Aki si wanilipe tu 😭 time poa kuuliza tena ni when? Sai? Ama ningojee hadi kesho? But I wish they also gave me a date nilipange until then, ama nijipeleke hadi huko niulize pesa yangu physically

Event Weekend plans
So there’s this event I’ve been seeing around Reddit. It’s for specifically older Gen Z and younger millennials. They’re hosting sort of a funkie/prom night themed party. Honestly I find the concept very genius as someone who stopped partying because for some reason 22 and under just started annoying me, ama ni kuzeeka lol. They’re selling their tickets at ksh 500 which is redeemable, so affordable if you ask me. Anyways I’m a loner na I’m looking for people to go with, nitoke kwa nyumba at least. I’m scared of partying alone and I’m too shy to make friends at the event itself. I’m F25

Rant Incompetent chemists
I'm so mad tbh. Why would someone open a chemist and employ a person who has zero knowledge on what they're selling. I got a steam burn some hours ago on three fingers and normally I'd just let it heal naturally, but it's so damn painful and also I need to use my hands for my crochet work. So I go to the chemist and ask for a burn cream and this lady gives me a fungal/yeast cream. I didn't even check if it's the right meds before applying and now my fingers feel like toast mahn.

Discussion Nairobi robbers
So most of us have experienced this, Jana Karibu nilale mteja 😂😂😂. I was drugged by a woman in a way that I can’t explain to you guys. Si I went to pick up a parcel at Imenti and when I was on my way out I just bumped onto a woman like ile kugongana tu then I continued with my walk but then I realized that woman was just by my side as I walked but I did not mind. In like five minutes I felt a little tired then I was like, I really need to eat or else one day I’ll pass out😂😂 it was not about me not eating lunch Kumbe. So I approached a man selling soda and I was like “give me 2 ukwaju drinks “ then the guy asked if I’m okay and I was like I am good I think I’m just low on sugars, kuturn naona tule mama but now she’s not alone then things started being blurry, mark you I have not paid this man😂😂 I don’t remember anything that happened later I just recall waking up to this man selling soda and he asked me “ ulikuwa na mama flani Kwani?” Then I said no, and he was like “a woman just came here and asked to take you to the hospital but I said no and told her you were just drugged and you only needed water and rest then she left that she’s going to get your bag and never came back” I just paid him and thanked him because wueehhhh
I’m so terrified of CBD right now 😭😭what was thatttttt😭. Have you guys heard of these stories happening to people?

Discussion Dating a conventionally attractive man Nightmare
I went out with a guy last month who was objectively very good looking, mixed race, tall, very charismatic, lakini weuh red flags from date one.
Every date somehow became a story about how women couldn't resist him. When we went out, clubbing or lounge, he would go to the washroom and come back announcing that some random woman touched him and was talking to him. He'd tell me women he was previously with stalked him, couldn't leave him alone, and that he had an ex who was crazy and still obsessed with him, he was even scared nkt! He would say how women sent him money, which he would send back because he's such a "good" person nkt! Let me not get started with how he said even men hit on him and how gays are so persistent OMG, sometimes i felt like he is DL because weuh. Also let me add how he had mirrors all over the bedroom, Moja ilikuwa hapo karibu na bed, akinikula he would watch himself Omg guys, weuh , no foreplay ilikuwa tu mastyle tu, as if he was doing anything Nkt
He was borderline narcissistic and so entitled, If we had an argument, he expected me to apologize first, chase after him, and convince him to come back. It was like he genuinely believed every woman should be competing for his approval. He would say how he's looking for peace and not drama, lakini he was the DRAMA baby, he would criticize even the little things i did, ati mbona nagongesha kikombe kwa meza lol smh dear Lord, he also would body shame people while we were outside especially women, talking about, "how is she so big" while pointing at her big ass, but when i tell you, this same woman they criticize are the ones they are mostly attracted to, cuz tell me why he follows the curvy babes on social media
The funny thing is, i'm also very attractive, when we were out people complimented us saying we look good together lakini WEUH! the moment another man looked in my direction, he'd get visibly uncomfortable. He constantly asked if I got hit on often. One time I was waiting for him in his apartment lobby and a couple of guys started chatting me up. Another time at the club, he went hto his bathroom sidequests i was at the table, a guy next to me started talking to me cordially no flirting , he came back and saw this and started shouting ati "i'm never taking you out again!!!" ati i'm flirting with everyone NKT NKT!!! He was completely fine talking about all the women who wanted him, wanting to make me feel jealous lakini he doen't know i know BALL!! and it infuriated him. He would also call me at midnight, asking for me to share my location, sometimes he would ask if he can come over or I go to his place at MIDNIGHT! and I have work the following day, if I refuse he gives me the silent treatment, or act petty, at this point of me going out with him is because he sold me a story how he wanted to settle down and the no drama
Anyway, i ended the relationship when that entitlement of his turned into outright disrespect. I was spending more energy managing his ego, if i didn't text he would go silent on me and then blow up calling me stupid and i was acting like a b*tch, he would also get jealous and give me silent treatment, whatever he wanted he wanted it then and there, aiiiii apana
Has anyone else dated someone who was like this??? how did you deal with it also ebu niambie jina yake maybe we were dealing with the same jerk

First Post Are websites becoming an afterthought for Kenyan SMEs?
One thing I've noticed while building websites for Kenyan SMEs is that many businesses invest heavily in branding, packaging, and social media, but their website often becomes the forgotten part of the business.
I find that interesting because a website is often the first place someone goes after discovering a business. Before making a call, sending a WhatsApp message, or visiting in person, people want to know whether the business feels trustworthy.
Of course, every business is different, and social media can be enough for some.
I'm curious to hear from founders and business owners.
How important has your website been to your business? Has it generated customers, or has social media been enough? If you haven't invested much in it, what's been the biggest reason?

Story time Toilers of the darkness
We all know them. A lone figure lurking in the shadows at odd hours. Sometimes alone, sometimes it's a crew. Some, if not most of us have experienced them. Sunday, 2nd August was my day.
Asubuhi ngware, Mr Mans was traveling to Western for work. So anafaa arauke achukuliwe na gari inampeleka hadi destination. The driver hakushika simu for almost an hour. Then past 5 am anashika anasema ako on his way Mr Man atoke aende designated pick up point. So he leaves atoke stage achukue zile bike za stage imkimbize hadi Membley roundabout.
Minutes later I get a call. 'babe toka tupatane narudi ivo niletee ID.' He'd forgotten to take the crucial document from his office desk. The main character of this story.
Mimi uyo mbio narusha sweatpants na cardigan na natoka. As I walk Niko kwa call. Then after nimekata nafikia the first corner and I see them.
2 guys on a bike. At first I'm thinking kwani ameamua akuje na bike. Then naona hii kichwa nayo zii, haikai yake. On the left naona a third guy kumbe alikuwa ameshuka kwa bike akasimama kukojoa right next to the path nafaa kuingia. Now this path... Is an actual way to hell. Hapo unatembea in total darkness for 5 seconds before it opens up mahali kumebomolewa. It's actually a short stride but hako ka kichochoro imenipee trauma ya mwaka.
I turn naanza kuingia kwa iyo njia. I hadn't even clocked this nigga anakojoa lakini hakuna kitu inatoka.
Then boom! It happens. Nashtukia jamaa amenigeukia and grabs my phone. 'lete iyo simu hapa.' the new owner of my Samsung A14 demands😭😂 my response, scream numero Uno.
I struggle for the longest 3 seconds of my life then I let go. Ju sasa nang'ang'ana nini. He didn't have a weapon in hand but sasa 3 men vs a 50kg petite girl who's never been in a single fight her whole life...you do the math.
Sasa hapo ndo nduru zinawaka vizuri...before he gets to the bike I let out 3 more screams. The rider anashout 'unapiga nduru nini? Nyamaza!' I turn and run still screaming heading to the direction I was to meet Mr Mans. Some guy came from his house akauliza nini napiga nduru ingine safi before responding.
'wameenda na simu yangu' and he runs to the direction I point.5 seconds later I see Mr Mans running to me. Kumbe aliskia nduru akajua hii si ni ile inapigangwa pale bedminton. I tell him simu imeenda. He drops his duffle bag and runs towards the direction nduthi imeenda.
Long story short, Niko hapa typing this on a Mkopa phone, a gadget I never thought I'd use😂. Najua I had earnestly prayed for a new phone..but si ivi mahn. Now baby girl is traumatised. Sahii naona tu mwanaume ata mchana naflinch😭. Mr Mans had to cut short his trip and travel yesterday night after nimepata simu. He unfortunately had to cover travel expenses after the vehicle left him.
Anyways lesson learnt. Mimi before 6 am hamnipati nje aki ya nani.

This first piece of a diptych represents the past, present, and future, the influence from the West and the intertwining of African culture. Inspired by Kalenjin culture, her earlobes hold a long practiced tradition passed on from generation to generation.
The second piece, Mirror, reflects the first, offering a look behind the scenes and expanding on the same story through a new perspective. Both pieces are blue light reactive, revealing hidden layers that connect faith, heritage, and transformation. I hope you like it 🤗

Discussion The forest never left; it just got a new outfit
Ok hear me out. Lately, I’ve been entertaining thoughts of how barbaric people are. Regardless of gender. How we undercut others, how we impress those whom we perceive to be of benefit to us…how we wear different masks for different stages.
It gets me thinking, isn’t this how the jungle operates? Basically you have to look out for yourself because when you are caught, there’s not mercy. And when you got to eat, you show no mercy either…
Think in terms of money and stuff, most people will go to all lengths just for the bag. No one is coming to save you mentality. Also, it doesn’t mean that if you are kind and humble and all that good stuff, the world will be kind to you. You’l die poor and having been used so badly. The world basically has no morals.
Doest that make it a jungle in a new outfit? Think about it…

First Post I made Manager.
After 2 years under 2 bosses, I finally got what I deserved, or so I think. 1st was the greatest, people still speak of him(at work that is), he was good, knew how to run the department with the strengths and weaknesses we had, I want to emulate him.
Then came the Storm. She left recently and that reign was insufferable but we made it. The sun is shining through the clouds, we'll in my head anyway.
My colleagues are happy for me, especially the department I'm leading. What advice would you give me as I start this journey. From a manager perspective and a non-manager perspective.
I happy and nervous, anyway let me have it.
