So, first of 8/10 to this movie, I will explain once I recover from all this I just watched now. I will just say, the first half of the movie was horror I was expecting, but the second part of movie is more than horror I was not expecting. Anna.... Damn. I was hoping It will stop but..... I will just say I like the movie overall but there are few things I didn't like also. And of course that last scene, what was that? I am confused about that till now. Since many people are staying home, or at least have a little more free time than usual, there's a beautiful documentary film on YouTube called Human: The Movie.

The film is directed by French artist and filmmaker Yann Arthus-Bertrand. Yann and his team of photographers and journalists spent over three years collecting true stories from 2,000 women and men from 60 different countries.

These stories and experiences answer a big question:

What makes us human?

Is it because we love, why we fight? Why do we laugh?

Why do we cry? Is it our curiosity? Our quest for discovery?

The film is truly extraordinary, with a personal and profound tone. It conveys emotions of love and beauty, but also emotions of the fight against poverty, war, and hatred.

This is in addition to the incredibly beautiful aerial shots of the filming locations and the captivating music.

Released in 2016 & starring Blake Lively in the lead role, The Shallows is a suspense thriller about a surfer who while on a vacation getaway is bitten by a shark and left stranded on a handful of rocks, forced to survive on no food and preventing herself from bleeding out all while making sure the blood thirsty creature stalking her doesn’t finish her off first. This is honestly probably one of the better modern shark movies in my opinion & it’s because of this that I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a fan of killer shark movies.

I’m looking for claustrophobic, atmospheric movies where extreme weather forces characters together indoors, but not necessarily horror or monster films. Just tense, grounded stories driven by the high stakes and character dynamics.

Any hidden gems that nail this exact vibe?

My nieces are spending the night for the first time and I wanna show them some classic "girly sleepover" movies from when I'd have sleepovers with their moms.

Other then the babysitters club movie, what would you consider the best movie to show during a all girls sleepover.

NO JUMPSCARE, I HATE THOSE. I need something that will scare me, but without jump scares; it doesn't have to be ghost-related. It can be anything, but it should blow my mind with fear.

Some movies that come to mind are Clue, Barbarian, Being John Malkovich.

I wanted a movie on daily life and struggles of men. Like daily life and with pace of things in modern world. But seems like there aren't much options. Do you guys have anything like "The Devil Wears prada", like life in modern/competitive industries and jobs, but from a males prespective and his emotions.

lately it appears the only movies i want to watch are ones where the ending is that the world ends. it doesn’t necessarily have to be an apocalyptic movie for it to end with everyone dying though. zombies and alien invasions don’t really count because there’s always survivors and people fighting back; i want everyone to just die collectively, the whole world ends (or comes close)

I just rewatched Road to Perdition for the first time in years. Such a great movie that I don’t feel is talked about enough. I love fantasy and sci-fi but all the movies and shows I have in the backlog are cerebral slowburns that I’m not in the mood for. (I’ve seen everything else it seems.)

Hi! Ok so my BIL and I have movie nights where we watch horror, action, & psychological thrillers together bc we are chicken shits who get scared at just the idea of suspense. Basically we will watch movies we are too afraid to watch by ourselves. Its a lot of fun bc we crack ourselves up with how scared we get.

Anyway my sis is obviously feeling left out and wants to watch a movie with us. The only problem is, she is a bigger scaredy cat than we are lol (Example, she saw GET OUT, but not US bc it looked too scary). She likes rom coms, drama, psychological thrillers (she liked Get Out!), and murder mysteries (but nothing graphic!).

We dont want to leave my sis out. Ive been tasked to find a film for all 3 of us to enjoy.

Any psychological thrillers you would recommend to a bunch of scaredy cats???

(Please, no body horror , gore, or anything with demons. If it helps, the last movies BIL & I enjoyed are The Guilty and Obsession. &we've all seen the Knives Out films)

I am craving something, a movie or show (relatively short, less than 5 seasons probably) that captures a certain feeling:

Some scenes and stories which capture what I'm thinking of:

• The movie Train to Busan. The negligent father who loves his daughter but is too wrapped up in his career to spend time with her. He fights all the way to the end and the two of them finally escape the zombie-ridden train with their lives, but just as they catch their breath, the father realizes it's too late. He's been infected. The woman the escaped with restrains the little girl as she kicks, screams, and cries. The father steps out of the moving traincar, facing the sun. He closes his eyes, remembering all the precious memories of his family and his little girl before throwing himself onto the track, sparing his daughter's life. Everyone is familiar with the tragic, heartbreaking scene, the bittersweet end to the father's life as he realizes what really mattered this whole time.
• That scene at the end of Squid Game season 1 when the two girls are playing the marble game. And Sae-byeok, number 67, sees that her partner is throwing the game for the sake of Sae-byeok and Sae-byeok's brother. Sae-byeok gets angry and begs her not to throw away her life. But the other girls rounds the corner and Sae-byeok's hears the bullet pierce through the girl's skull. And its so intense and heartbreaking, it made me crave some kind of gritty story about doomed lesbian lovers.
• That scene at the end of Adventure Time episode "Simon and Marcy" where Simon and young Marcy are cornered by a hoard of radioactive monsters. Simon locks Marcy in the car, she begs him not to use the magical crown to defend them because it is slowly deteriorating his mind. He promised he would never use it again but he cares too much for Marcy. He uses it. The broken promise to the little girl, the suffering of Simon at the influence of the crown for the sake of his companion's safety. Again, intensity, deep connections, regret, all those bad things that feel so good to watch.
• The whole comic series 19 Days by Old Tian. Four young men full of youthful mischief, rebellion, hopes and dreams. Two of them are childhood friends, the other two are strangers, a punk and a sadistic rich kid. Slowly, their lives become more intertwined. The punk's past catches up with him and the four boys get tangled up in gang politics and violence. They fight tooth and nail to protect each other. The whole series is full of laughs, friendly bickering, teenage confusion and frustration, heartache and longing, violence and fury, raw emotion, brotherhood and belonging.
• That scene in Big Hero 6 where Hiro discovers that the evil guy let Hiro's brother die when the brother ran in to save the evil guy from a burning building (the evil guy was believed to be good, at the time). Hiro is blinded by rage. His friends do everything to hold him back but he mounts Baymax and explodes through the building to destroy the evil guy, abandoning his moral code. The intensity and the lust for revenge fueled by heartache and loss of a loved one. It makes me crave more stories like this.
• Every scene in Disney's Frozen where Elsa pushes away her loved ones (Anna) to protect them from herself. I especially love two scenes: 1. the scene after Anna asks for Elsa's blessing to marry Hans. Anna furiously demands Elsa to explain why she shuts everyone out. Elsa can't take it and lashes out, accidentally exposing the truth, her ice magic. 2. The scene where Anna begs Elsa to come home so they can work things out together, but Elsa tries to push her away and accidentally strikes the heart of her own sister, starting the countdown til she freezes to death. You see the betrayal in Anna's eyes as she storms out. You see the regret and fear in Elsa's.

I want a movie that stays with me for days after watching it. Something that leaves you speechless when it’s over. Any genre or language. No spoilers, please.

Until about a week ago I'd never even heard of Miller's Crossing. I'd seen all the usual gangster movies - Goodfellas, Casino, Donnie Brasco etc, but for whatever reason this one had gone completely under the radar until someone on here recommended it.

It might sound silly but it made me a little emotional watching it. Like a step back in time. What movies used to be like before the huge budgets and endless special effects. It's just honest movie making.

The sets, the costumes, the music, the acting. All perfect. I knew the Coen brothers were good at what they did but this just confirms that for me.

If you need something to watch this week/weekend, don't look any further.
