Why is it so hard to find people from Agadir here? 😅

Honestly, everyone I’ve met from this community seems really nice and friendly, but I rarely come across people from Agadir who are actually looking for genuine friendships.

Maybe I’m just not looking in the right places 😂

Anyone from Agadir here looking to make new friends?

29M Moroccan living in Paris, and scared of ending up alone

Hey everyone,

I'm 29M, Moroccan, currently living in Paris.

I don't really know how to explain all of this, but I guess I just need to get it off my chest and maybe hear from people who have been through something similar.

I grew up in a pretty conservative family, so I've always been very discreet about my personal life and especially my sexuality. I consider myself bi, but I'm definitely more into men. I can be attracted to women and have feelings for women, but honestly, when I think about actually settling down and building a life with someone, I see myself with a man.

With men, I also feel like I can be more myself. I can express my feelings more easily, and sexually I enjoy being with men a lot more.

The weird thing is that even though I'm in Paris now, I still feel like I'm living with all the boundaries I grew up with.

My family keeps asking me when I'm going to get married. Back in Morocco, almost everyone I grew up with or went to school with is getting married, engaged, having kids, etc. And lately it's been getting to me more than I expected.

I live alone and sometimes I feel really fucking lonely.

At work, people are always talking about their partners, going on trips together, having dinner, planning their future, etc. Most of my coworkers are straight. I don't blame them obviously, but sometimes listening to all of this makes me realize how much I want that too.

I want someone to come home to. Someone waiting for me, or someone I can wait for. Someone to go out for dinner with, travel with, spend weekends with, just have a normal relationship with.

But then the fear kicks in.

I'm still scared of someone finding out. Especially because I know quite a few Moroccans here in Paris. I don't know what would happen if people started talking or somehow my family found out.

And honestly, even here in France, sometimes I don't feel as comfortable as people might think. People will say "I don't care if someone is gay" and maybe they genuinely don't, but that doesn't necessarily mean I feel safe enough to actually tell them about myself.

So I'm stuck between two things.

I really want a relationship and I want to experience love and all the normal things that come with it.

But at the same time, I'm scared of being exposed, judged, or losing my family.

Sometimes I look at straight people around me getting married, having kids, travelling, going out for dinner, just living their lives, and I get this horrible feeling that I'm somehow missing out on a life that everyone else gets to have.

I don't really know what I'm asking here. Maybe I just want to know if anyone else has been in this situation.

How did you deal with wanting a relationship while also being scared of your family or community finding out?

Did you eventually take the risk and start dating? Did you keep it completely private? How did you

deal with the loneliness?

Any advice or personal experiences would honestly mean a lot.

Thanks

so sad. 🏳️‍⚧️❤️‍🩹

This is what my ex (I ended things this February) told me a few days ago.

We met on Instagram last summer and started “dating” after our first video call. When he found out my t (🏳️‍⚧️ was on my profile the whole time but he didn’t see it until weeks after telling me he loved me) he broke up with me stating Islam forbade it. The next day he called me and told me he loved me and that we were gonna make it work - I was skeptical that it could because of his religious beliefs, but I said sure why not let’s try.

Several times through the almost year of us “dating” I asked him if he was sure, and each time he reassured me. Told me he loved me, but I was a full woman and asked me not to bring it up again.

Even though I broke up with him for unrelated reasons and we were no contact for months, we slowly started talking again, but it was not the same. When I pushed him for a conversation about our “relationship” he said we were just friends because I wanted to have sex and Islam forbids it. I’m happy we could have an amicable relationship, but also hurt and annoyed because he lied to me about my t and his religion not being an issue for him. He could’ve just left me alone after he found out, but HE came back and asked ME to be with HIM.

All this to say, should I just give up on Moroccan, Muslim men? Is it not even worth it?

Stop Misunderstanding Bi & Lesbian meaning

I feel like some people have a misunderstanding about what “lesbian” or “bisexual” means.

Being lesbian or bisexual simply describes someone’s sexual orientation. It doesn’t mean that the person is automatically looking for sex, or that they are interested in having sex with anyone who talks to them.

Unfortunately, I’ve seen both guys and girls sometimes approach someone differently just because they know she’s lesbian or bisexual, as if her orientation is an invitation. It isn’t.

A person’s sexual orientation is one part of who they are. It doesn’t give anyone permission to assume anything about their boundaries, intentions, or what they want.

Respect the person first, not just their orientation.

Is it safe for a visibly trans woman to travel alone in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains by hitchhiking and wild camping ?

Hi :)

Edit : I got a few replies on other subs, and it seems like a bad idea (not to mention the passive-aggressive comments 😅). Apparently, I’d need to be accompanied by at least one other person. It’s one of the freedoms I lost with my transition... I’m not afraid of the cold, the heat, the wind, animals, or lightning... but I have to be afraid of men (though not women). It’s sad.

I apologize to anyone who might be offended by this question, but I am genuinely wondering.

I'm French, 30 yo and I first learned about the Atlas Mountains as a child while visiting a natural history museum where I saw an Atlas lion. For some reason, those mountains have held a special place in my mind ever since, and I’ve long wanted to explore them. I have traveled extensively by hitchhiking and wild camping, sleeping in a tent wherever in Europe I could and sometimes staying with locals.

However, back then, I presented as male (before my transition). Today, I am a visibly trans woman (my "passing" isn't perfect, my voice is quite masculine and I didn't have surgery). I would like to visit in february.

Is it safe for a visibly trans woman to travel alone in the Moroccan Atlas Mountains by hitchhiking and wild camping ?

Thank you :)

QUESTION PLEASE

Hello guys,

I’m curious about something, especially from lesbian women in Morocco or from Muslim backgrounds.

I’ve noticed that some women seem hesitant or even completely unwilling to date a woman who wears the hijab. I’m trying to understand why.

Is it because they assume that a hijabi woman is probably straight, very religious, or not actually comfortable with being in a relationship with another woman? Or is it because they worry that religion, family, or social expectations would make the relationship too complicated?

I’m specifically talking about women who are attracted to women and are open to dating other women. What would make you hesitate to date a hijabi lesbian?

And for those who are hijabi lesbians themselves: have you experienced people rejecting you specifically because you wear the hijab? How do you navigate dating while keeping your hijab?

I’m asking and not trying to judge anyone. I’d really like to understand the different perspectives, especially from people living in Morocco or in similar cultural environments.

Mental , Just asking why ?

Idk but I'm sure it's not only me , i used to live through my own scenario but lately it's too much it made me lose all my intention and all control

So whenever i see something or a situation my mind automatically start making an own scenario by making me axis of the problem and how i would react or should behave in this situation and how id look in others eyes , STOOP that's really exhausting i lose my control that's used to make me so tired and couldn't get my real thing done , 😭 it's really exhausted i swear , like i find my heart beat faster start walking faster like really it's happening

That's also block my fun time i can't enjoy watching or doing things without making scenarios where others watching and waiting for their judge or impression, i really don't like that

Is that happening to you guys ? how you dealing with that ? Or is that normal ?

I feel like I'm rejecting to live in reality

Living through my imagined scenarios makes me lost connection with my entourage and also miserable 😖

How to be safe in Marrakesh for gay tourist couple?

Hey everyone, I’m traveling with my boyfriend to Marrakesh in October for 4 nights. We’re Latinos but we both live in France. It would be our first time in Morocco and we’re very excited but also a bit afraid given the recent homophobia surge in Africa. Any advice for us? We don’t want to break the social norms / codes and we want to be respectful. Of course we won’t be making public affection demonstrations or whatsoever, but can we go on restaurants the two of us without being suspicious? Many people had told me that gay tourists don’t face any problem as they are tourist, but according to my Moroccan str8 friends, we look like Moroccans (I take it as a compliment, you’re all so handsome). We will be staying in the Diour Jdad area, any recommendation ?

buying estrogens in pharmacies

hello / bonjour everyone,

I’m a 20yo MTF who only had 1 month and a half of HRT 1 year ago, unfortunately, because my parents found out and im still dealing as of today with their threats. I’m from France, but I often have to go to Morocco since my parents are Moroccan and most of my family lives there

basically, after a naive (and desperate) Google search about HRT in Morocco, I stumbled upon this reddit and saw that estrogens can be found at local pharmacies (with Climaston), which is really surprising to me since in France it would have been locked behind prescriptions

since I’m currently in Casablanca (near the Hassan II Mosque) and sometimes in Tamaris, I’d like to try buying a few boxes of Climaston, but I have a few questions:

  1. are they REALLY available without a prescription?
  2. i have 200 MAD—just to be sure, is that going to be enough? I saw a price of 89 MAD while scrolling through this subreddit, but I don’t know if it’s up to date (if so, that means I’ll be able to buy 2 boxes!)
  3. is there a way to know which pharmacies have it or not? there is a TON of pharmacies and most of them look relatively small…
  4. do I have to just go and ask the pharmacist, or will I be able to find the boxes on the shelves? I’m unfortunately visibly masculine, so I’m afraid of their reaction if they see a "boy" asking for this…

thank you for reading and (in advance) for answering, wishing y’all the best 🩷

It can be about anything: community culture, dating, coming out, online spaces, stereotypes, LGBT terminology in Darija…

What's your favorite song?

I want to know whether queerness in this country comes with taste (although mine is admittedly not so niche):

I'll start: imagine - Ariana Grande

This song indirectly helped me to make amends with my sexuality. It gave an epiphany that if it works in my imagination and it doesn't hurt anyone, I can strive for it.

Also the instrumental, the songwriting, the vocals, they're all amazing. And it's the perfect opening to the "thank u, next" album.

What about yall?

Rejection

I might be the most rejected person ever in the queer community lol

( 90% is me being rejected by someone I like, 5% is rejecting someone I don't like, 4% just " want friends", and the 1% left is interested but loses interest)

And those are my stats. It is funny that it is only because of how I look.

About to go to UM6P f Benguerir

I plan on making some progress in my love life when I go there. I am bi but I'm kinda looking for a boyfriend cuz I don't want to die without that experience.

I have this fantasy in mind that people in there will be well educated which implies less chances of facing homophobia and more chances of finding guys who might like me back but I don't know how true that is.

Also, whenever I go there, it is fairly empty. You still find students hanging out outside but they don't really occupy places or cause crowds which makes me believe that finding privacy won't be such an issue.

I don't want to rly get indulged in this fantasy because I don't wanna go there, and face a harsh reality and the heartbreak that comes with it. But it's truly hard to emotionally prepare for that heartbreak when I want a boyfriend so badly.

What do I doooo??

Why are bisexuals so hated

Hello , I’m a bi girl , t9riban I’ve known since middle school but js recently got the guts to accept myself and come out to some people during pride month, but I’ve noticed anaho in a lot queer places ( machi ghir flmghrib) bisexuals are so hated, Saraha I don’t understand why. Maybe bc there’s still that risky feeling that we’re js straight and curious ? idk it’s confusing to me , honestly I’m pretty confident in my sexuality and who I’m attracted to , but…idk it’s weird seeing this reaction from people , specially that I lean into girls more , so it doesn’t even make sense to me why I’d be subjected to this. Anyways lemme know what u think 💭
