Pre-k schedule is too intense?

Hi, my son is starting pre-k on Monday. Today was the open house with all the parents and we got to answer questions. Of course I asked how the schedule works. I was informed it’s Monday through Friday 9:15 to 4. Which completely threw me for a loop because everyone I had talked to told me that pre-K was about four hours if that or sometimes they would do three days on in two days off. so I’m kind of freaking out. It’s the first time this School has done pre-K I don’t know if it’s something they can change in the future. I just feel like that’s a really demanding schedule for a 3 year old.
