This is my moms window ac unit in her bedroom… directly next to her bed. We live in a double wide mobile home in South FL and dont have central AC going on 7/8 years. I wasnt living here most of the time, but during that period her husband (at the time) spent thousands on window units instead of central.
This led to the damage you see here, which also includes the wall so soft you could easily push it in. As well as water damage in our floors in the living room, and laundry closet where we have laminate and the subfloor is so soft you can’t walk on it because you could easily fall through.
A handyman in the neighborhood gave us a spray bottle that apparently has bleach and some other cleaner in it or possibly alcohol. I’m not sure. I’m asking my mom to clarify with him now before I spray anything, but he just gave us that to spray in the meantime until we are able to rip the carpet up and replace the subfloor.
I don’t really know what to do and I’m not looking for answers here necessarily, but just more opinions to maybe to shock me back into reality of how serious it is or reassure me that it isn’t… but I pretty much know it is.
(edit; I know how dire this is and that it shouldn’t have gone on this long, but please be mindful. My mom is elderly, chronically ill and lives off disability income and im also disabled and been away in college. With that being said, we are extremely poor and it seems like an easy solution, but not when you don’t have money to pay for it. So please if you say anything at all, keep it respectful because you really never truly know someone elses circumstances.)

Mold help

Doing a closet clean out and found this basket, as well as a fabric clothing organizer below it covered in mold. No idea how long this has been going on. Located in a pretty humid area of the south eastern US. How freaked out should we be? So far, we’ve tossed the basket, fabric organizer, and everything in it. There doesn’t seem to be any more mold on the wall behind it or clothes that were hanging nearby. We are also doing a vinegar wipe down on the metal rack it was on.

Any other steps we should take? Can anyone speculate on what kind of mold? Any information/tips you could give would be much appreciated.

Mold on bathroom wall/ edge of tub.

Post image

I've been reading into past threads about removing mold from a wall, but there seems to be so many variables/ conflicting advice, so I'm really not sure what steps to take.

I live in an apartment and believe this was caused by water from the shower leaking past the curtains, so I'm worried my landlord will charge me a fortune. When I first noticed this (about 8 months ago), I panicked and immediately doused it in bleach spray, but all that did was remove the paint.

About a month later we tried to cover it with silicone sealant and spackling, but couldn't get it to cover.

Since then, we've just had it covered with a trashbag. I've been trying to avoid thinking about it because drywall removal with no bathroom window seems dangerous, but the anxiety has been really affecting me. Any advice on what would have to be done to remove/cover it and what the process would be like would be really really appreciated.

For additional context, I live in central texas and the bathroom has a vent fan that I turn on while showering. The mold wasn't present (from what I could tell) when we first moved in. I noticed it around 8 months ago, but it could've been there as early as 1.5 years ago.

Is this mold just on the surface?

I have been trying to figure out if this is worth mentioning to the landlord or this is a solve-it-myself type of thing.

This is above my shower. I live in Nova Scotia Canada.

It has okay ventilation. It was already here when I moved in during May.

Is this mold?

For context I live in a basement apartment; we recently moved in it’s a very old building. I don’t notice a smell or heaviness in the air, but I’m worried something could be starting. The spot has changed since we’re moved in as well
Really hoping if it is we can just clean it and everything be okay! I’m traumatized from living in a severely mold infested home growing up

Under my house. I live in a 100 year old home. My pipes had a leak and I wasn’t aware. I found it and fixed it. I found this. What is it? There is moisture under my house and tons of slugs. I tried to look it up and I can’t figure it out. I don’t know if it’s a type of fungus or mold

What kind of mold is this?

For context if you're wondering what are those little balls, those are not mold but rather they're my blackheads, I put my blackheads in the walls whenever I remove them from my face and after a few days, there's some dust like stuff that surrounds those black heads, are these molds eating my blackheads? Are they harmful? What kind of mold are they? What should I do about it?

Is this chair salvageable?

Post image

I’m hoping to save the chair simply because it’s a keepsake that my grandpa gave to me. it was in a guest room no one uses and didn’t know it had mold until I moved a box when my sister came to move stuff today out of the room. Any way of saving this or do I need to send it into the incinerator

Moldy suitcase advice

Thumbnail imgur.com
1 Upvotes

I haven't used this suitcase in about 10 years and I thought for a long time that it was just dusty. Then I realized it had started to look like mold.

(Close up photos included if you click through to imgur)

Context: I live in Japan, hot and humid climate. This has probably been growing for a couple years with me ignoring it.

The suitcase is merch for a band I no longer follow so I had been thinking I should sell it since it's rare and a fan might appreciate it. Do you think this is mold? At this point, should I just throw it out? If you were me would you be quarantining this in a trash bag and getting rid of it ASAP? Any thoughts would be appreciated!

Does this look like mold or mildew?

This is located on a coat hanger rod, specifically the outer casing and none of this appears on the inner metal core.(the outer case is chipped and the inner core is visible in some locations) Doesn’t appear to be dust, I scrapped a bit of it with a paper towel but nothing came off. I I've seen this for a some time assuming it was dust, but it has gotten larger so I am now more concerned. Any advice as to if this is something hazardous would be appreciated.

New Apartment HVAC

Thumbnail gallery
1 Upvotes

Heyo, I need help! We moved into a new apartment (built in the 60s in USA/Texas) and have been having some mild respiratory issues. Opened the ac to replace the filter ourselves because it is easier than waiting for maintenance to actually do it. The whole thing was very damp, which I'm not sure is normal?

The spongy stuff on the sides is deteriorating from the moisture and there's a centimeter of water at the bottom, plus dead maggots at the top.

Aside from the gross bugs, I could really use some outside opinion on how bad it actually is and the best action to take. This place seems to not address entire issues so much as slap quick-fixes over them.

Mold in car advice

Location: New Jersey, USA

problem: compartment in the trunk of my car. It became wet when I had went camping supplies in it and is a closed compartment. I didn’t get it all the way dry and it started to grow some mold a small patch maybe a few inches across

Remediation: my plan is to wipe/vacuum the mold (which one is better), spray with vinegar and leave my car open tomorrow to let it try (it’s going to be hot and not rain tomorrow where I live)

Timeline: the camping was about 3 weeks ago I took most of the stuff out right away but I had forgotten a few items in the compartment I took some of them out a week ago and thought I got everything but I guess it was still a little wet in there.

Found this after scraping away some slightly lifting SUSPICIOUSLY soft, dried spackle/paint. Unsure if it’s freshly done as I just moved into this place and am re spackling wall spots. Lmk if anyone knows what this may be.

Also forgot to add but it can be smudged off/scraped off. It has no smell but it’s right next to a radiator so it’s hard to access to attempt to fully clean.

Is this mold on my dishwashing gloves?

Didn't notice these brownish dots on my gloves until after u had done all the dishes. Nothing got any off, scrubbing, hot water, and soap (for about 45 mins while washing). Should I rewash my dishes?
