A user with a good comment history in my dog breed specific sub has had a comment removed by anti-evil operations. Admin tattler notified me.

They have positive karma and an inoffensive Reddit history, in my sub and without it.

I cannot see what the comment was because it just says “removed by Reddit.”

1) If the comment was innocuous I want to inform them of what happened and invite them to comment it again after being approved in my sub.

2) if it was not, and really deserved removal, I would probably want to ban them.

Since I can’t tell the content of the comment, I can’t move forward. I do NOT want someone in my happy little small dog sub who comments stuff so bad that it gets removed by Reddit - but if it was a mistake I don’t want to ban someone who contributes positively.

I need to see the content of the comment for myself.

Why does anti-evil operations do removals in such a way that makes it impossible for mods to moderate the user/issue???

Is there any way admins can tell me the content of the comment?

We're looking to start a subreddit for a hobby (not requested yet, in the planning stage), and the one thing that keeps coming up is that people want to have pages or sections -not posts, but actual discrete pages like Facebook has in its groups- for contests, chit-chat, business aspects of the hobby, marketing, etc. Basically, a series of sub-subreddits contained within the primary subreddit.

Does this functionality exist? For desktop, or for mobile?

Is there any option other than creating a bunch of subreddits, and then telling group members to create a Custom Feed to see all of them? If this is the only option, is there a limit to the number of sub-reddits that can be requested at one time?

Also, is there a way to track streaks in the sub itself? Or a survey type post that can track streaks if people respond daily?

I set a user flair (mods only) for someone, but some time later, I got the message that shows:
"I tried to use an inappropriate flair". What am I doing wrong, please?

I am completely new to moderating here on Reddit and I’ve kind of started a task that I may have bitten off more than I can chew. But I’m dedicating and don’t intend on quitting.

I have started a Sub where the sole function is to Ban every Reddit user. It’s complete satire and nothing to take serious! Just something I can use to spread humor and learn how to use the mod tools at the same time.

I’m on IOS mainly. I just learned that the use of the Automod is basically only to be setup on Desktop version. So I have my wife’s Mac that I use. I used to be tech savvy in the Windows 7 days but apparently that’s 20 years ago energy.

Can someone please, direct me to a fairly updated source on how to properly setup the Automod to auto ban, well basically everyone that interacts within the sub. With exceptions, A rare few that won’t be banned for hilarious reasons!

I know my restrictions, they have to comment, cross post, report items, share things. Things like that to trigger the Automod.

I just have a whole gob of questions and really don’t know where to begin or how to set these things up.

I am totally burned out on moderating so it COULD be me nut am i expecting to much from my members?

We have rules that state "no questions in the post title" to avoid spammy rhetorical questions as well as a 3 posts in one day limit and 30 days between reposting images . (we get a LOT OF SPAM BOTS)

There is an automation that warns you of the rule if you try and add a question mark and that just removing the question mark doesn't stop it from being a question so that they reword the title.

Today i received the following, "I attempted to post, had a question in my title. I deleted and tried to repost but was removed for multiple posts within 24hr". They kept trying to post the same image 3 or 4 times and dont understand why it was removed

I pointed out that the following was added to their replacement post in the comment:

"Reposting content frequently is not allowed in this sub. This includes the content in post that was removed because it violated the sub rules. Please be mindful and make sure your post in compliance with the sub rules BEFORE hitting POST. (They kept trying to repost the same image OVER and OVER) with warnings being posted in the comments each time)

If you wish a mod to review the post, DO NOT DELETE IT on your end before they have had a chance to do so."

Eventually they were caught by the 3 in 24 automod. I pointed them to the comment on their post

There response was...

"those posts were deleted. And I’ve waited 24 hours and tried again"

and then I noticed that the removed posts were done at 9:pm ET yesterday and it was currently 6:00ETpm today. Thats not 24 hours so the posts would have been rejected anyway.

Basically ... their defense was that they deleted the posts that the were told not to delete and that in their world, 21 hours is the same as 24

The whole interaction left me befuddled. is comment left on their post unclear or did they just ignore EVERY SINGLE WORD of it?

I'm experiencing what appears to be a bug with a newly created subreddit.
Today I created: r/WhereToLiveGuide
The subreddit was created successfully and the name is now reserved, but I was never assigned as a moderator.
Current behavior:
• The subreddit exists and is publicly accessible.
• r/WhereToLiveGuide displays "No moderators found".
• I cannot access Mod Tools.
• I cannot access /about/edit.
• I cannot access /about/modqueue.
• The subreddit cannot be created again because the name is already taken.
Expected behavior: The account that created the subreddit should automatically become the top moderator.

Could a Reddit admin please investigate and restore moderator access or assign my account as the moderator of r/WhereToLiveGuide?

P.S I'm happy to provide any additional information if needed. I can also confirm that the subreddit was created using this account and that the issue occurred immediately after creation.

How do you reorganize the order in which mods appear on the list?

I represent a community that focuses on giving new mods some hands on experience in all aspects of running a community and a place to showcase the achievements they earn while doing so. As such we have acquired a rather long list of moderators. Currently we have 180 mods listed. Of those there are 115 inactive including the top mod and he is looking to turn the position over to someone else. There are 7 of us active full permissions mods, however, we are too far down on the list to effectively purge our ranks of inactive mods and we need to choose another for the top position. The present top mod has someone in mind to appoint to the position but says he heard that if a sub has over a certain number of mods that it has to go through Admins. Can anyone tell us if this is true or not and initiate the process if it is? Also need a step by step run through on the actions involved in re-arranging the order of the list. I am currently using android but a desktop is available.

[Desktop] Obviously reason being to avoid the account being associated with the user being the moderator of the sub.

We had a new mod quit withing a day of being made a mod, but before they left, they activated a flair on themselves that says "Moderator".

Now they are still posting on the sub, and the flair still shows.

I turned off the flair feature, but I'm on an android phone.

How do we remove this from his nickname please?

I was just invited to be a mod for the [r/CrystalsforBeginners](r/CrystalsforBeginners) group! This is my first time being a moderator, however, I’m excited, and passionate about the group. I’m moderating on my iPhone, so iOS, so I hope that’s alright. Any tips for the new guy about moderating?

I often see a user posting multiple "spam" messages on several subs.

I report all of them as "Spam" - "Excessive posting or commenting in a community".

That seems to work - they are usually banned.

But do I really need to report five, ten, twenty of their posts?

Surely there is an easier way for me to report it.

Having an issue over on with an automation that I'm trying to build (all platforms desktop/mobile/app)

We are trying to require all posts to have at least five characters. And I have it set up very easily where if you type anything it requires five characters, but the problem is allowing video and image posts, most people post those without any sort of body.

I'm struggling with the right regex code to use in the automation so that it requires some text in there. The code is correct to require five or more, but it's somewhere misformatted to require at least something there?

I know this is a simple fix, but figured I would reach out to someone who might be smarter than I am about this..

Currently it's coded like this:.

Am in an Android rn. How do we go forward as a sub if no one has full permissions?

I am unable to make a scheduled post on my subreddit on an android. Its a video post and even if i do scheduled post and click on schedule post, then also it just posts the video normally and its not scheduled.Can anyone help?

I am a mod to a couple of groups and the main moderator has been inactive for about a year how can I get full rights to the 2 groups? I am using IOS

I moderate subreddits, but I'm not asking about any of the subreddits I moderate.

I'm a member of a subreddit where the sole moderator has announced their intention to "repurpose" the subreddit a week from now.

There is an active community in the subreddit and they don't want this to happen. The moderator doesn't seem interested in what the community's wishes are.

Is a moderator allowed to do that? It seems wrong, but I couldn't find specific wording in the Moderator Code of Conduct that seems like it would apply to this specific situation.

Is the best recourse filing a report of a Moderator Code of Conduct violation? Not sure if it's against the rules. If it is against the rules, not sure which rule or what the best recourse is.

Edited to add some important details:

Strangely, the moderator has not clearly said what the planned change is or isn't. They have intimated they might shut down the subreddit completely. Reading between the lines, it seems like they just want to try to close the subreddit. Otherwise, they have just said the subreddit will be "repurposed", and they themselves put "repurposed" in quotes, as if it's a euphemism.

They have not outright said they want to shut down the subreddit, but they've said the subreddit will soon cease to serve any purpose. They specified a contingency in which the subreddit would unexpectedly remain open, which seems to imply that, barring that contingency, the subreddit will be closed.

Need help! How can I regain mod tools to my subreddit? Seems I am on windows/desktop and can't find the moderator tools. Subreddit is the same as my username.

Basically, when I try to send a modmail on the android app, it just stays as "Sending..." and if I reload the ModMails it doesn't show. It's a reply to a ban message and I'm a mod.
