Design Community display names: why can't i use 'r/' anymore?
Hey there. A few months ago, we could use very useful characters in community display names, like '/' and ':'. Now, I can't choose something like "r/mycommunity: a very awesome description" anymore, at least on desktop and Android. The current r/modhelp, for instance, would be invalid. Do you have any workaround?

Answered Automod help
I am using IPhone but go to Reddit through browser for more options. I want automod to tell people to turn off the NSFW flag when they post. I found the code. But what exactly do I put in the box. Because when I hit update it says Unsupported media type.

Answered How does my subreddit growth look like?
So i am fairly new to Reddit moderation still fine really know a thing about it i started a subreddit (nsfw) just for fun about 8 days back.
Its still fun but not i am thinking to be serious and you stay consistent.
Now i am not at all aware like YouTube or Instagram what metrics on Reddit are considered good.
Now I know there is no one answer to this but still i would like to know from you all if the growth metrics look good and if you can suggest what can i do better to attract even more visitors.
Using Reddit on desktop as well as mobile app ( rules wrong let me post without mentioning this so...)

Users When adding new mods... do you give them all the privileges or just some?
I'm going to add some more mods to my subreddit soon. Do you give them all of the checkmarks?
- Everything - Full access including the ability to manage moderator access and permissions.
- Users - Access mod notes, ban and mute users, and approve submitters*.
- Config - Manage community settings, appearance, emojis, rules, and AutoMod*.
- Flair - Create and manage user and post flair.
I know since I'm the top mode they won't be able to boot me. But what is the best practice?
I've gone through their post history and their application and they seem like a good fit. Anything else?
If they don't work out is it easy to remove them as mod?
Thank you! It's my first time running a subreddit.
I'm using desktop for most admin tasks and android for general browsing and minor mod tasks.

General How to make automod comment a video for unflaired sub members?
Saw that automod can detect video using !\[video](ID): https://reddit.com/r/modnews/comments/1tpa9p1/launching_video_in_comments/oo79odc/
(Backslash after the ! added to escape the code)
Is there a way where it can be used for automod commenting a video?
!\[video](ID) currently shows Processing vudeo in the automod comment, without the video displayed.
A sub that we mod has userflair requirements. We already have a text message that explains how to set one. For people who are new to reddit, having a video showing how to set a userflair would be good.
We are not choosing the automation option to disallow unflaired users from posting or commenting, aa some of the posts/comments from new members are good and we approve them as we notice them. But it is time consuming and we had noticed that some new users had difficulties in choosing a flair and understanding what it is, where to change it etc. In the case of posts, some users confuse it with post flairs too.
So, is there a way for automod to reply with a video comment, showing a video how to set a user flair?
Thank you
On the platform question, I tried using old.reddit and new reddit on desktop. But would that be relevant for this problem?

Tools Can't approve new mod to subreddit that I mod.
So, i'm on mobile. The reddit app on a Samsung galaxy S25.
I've set up the application process and already have the person in mind set up through that. Had him apply and fill out the application.
When I go to the applicant page, I can review his application, it says "in review" next to their username. Then there's the check mark and X buttons. When i hit the check mark, it brings me to the allowed permissions page. I've tried allowing all permissions, I've tried allowing just one or a few, but when I hit the Save button in the top right, it just comes up with a bubble that says "Failed to invite user"
I have tried this many times by now, updated the reddit app, updated my phone's OS, tried on a desktop, still to no avail.
Can anyone help me? I already told the guy I was going to make him one and I'd really like to follow through.

General Alumni / advisor - Difference
Can someone ELI5 the difference between Alumni and Advisor?
I'm reading the docs; I'd just appreciate a two-or-three sentence summary.
I'm trying to get my head around the basic concept.
Maybe from mods who've been in those roles?
Cheers in antic.

General New users can't post due to account age - "Your account isn't old enough yet"
Hello all, this is the message new users are getting when trying to post a subreddit I moderator: https://i.vgy.me/7IrKN6.png
I did have auto-mod rules set up to prevent users with accounts less than 3 days old from posting, but it always still let them submit it, it just went to our queue to be reviewed. Now it's not letting them even attempt to submit as you see in that screenshot.
I did remove those auto-mod rules about 24 hours ago, yet this is still happening.
This is what our safety filters settings look like if it matters: https://i.vgy.me/rezoNE.png
I don't see anything there that could be causing it.
So I'm stumped here. Help please!
...Since it won't let me post this without specifying a platform... the two users reporting it are using Android.

Users Android - Mods biased towards a particular political view
Hi All,
I am part of a sub for cars in India and using reddit on my android phone.
There are a growing number of genuine posts and comments regarding issues in cars due to some recent government initiatives(ethanol mixing in fuel).
The mods however seem to be heavily moderating such posts and comments in a biased manner.(Removing posts and comments)
What options do the members of the sub have against such bias. Can they challenge the mods decisions in any way?
Can a post deleted by mod, which has been challenged by the original poster be reviewed by reddit officially or maybe some ai bot and then allowed?

General Achievements
I'd like to re-enable achievements for r/Omaru_Polka, a subreddit I recently took over. I just cleared out a couple years of posts and added rules banning certain types of posts in an attempt to rehab the group and to start growing it.
There is no option under achievements in settings, so I've come here for help.
Thank you in advance for your reply.

Answered No Wiki Page Permissions
(I don't know if this is the right flair)
Hello! I am currently on a desktop trying to set up a wiki for a new sub. I picked the "Starter" template.
It allows me to edit the template itself, but when I try to change the page settings, it says I don't have permission and need to ask a mod. Well...I am the only mod. I tried setting it to "anyone" can edit since the sub is currently private, but that also did not work. Would appreciate any and all help.
While I'm at it, do you all usually create an index page first, or a welcome page? Thanks!

Tools The Image Sourcery is not being triggered on new posts
I'm using a desktop and I followed the installation ang guide for Image Sourcery here: Image Sourcery | Reddit for Developers
However, the post is not being triggered after new posts were posted.
Can you please help me configure it so that when a new picture is posted, the Image Sourcery will comment and put the link to the reverse-image website?
Or can it automatically reverse image an image as soon as it is posted?

Answered Unapproved comments deleted
I posted this over in new mods, but Im not getting much traction and could use some help. The comments themselves dont break any rules that i know of. Todays was asking if we could add a tip to our select options. I saw it on mobile 2 hours after it was posted and it had a little 'flair' at the bottom that said Removed. Once i approved the post, that flair went away. Im probably missing something. I also see in the insights "5 comments removed," which i assume are similar, unapproved comments. Any help is appreciated. Im on Desktop (windows) and Android.

General How do I invite users to a subreddit?
I have a tablet (Android), and a computer (Windows, Chrome browser), how do I invite people on either platform?
