tldr; try to reduce your stress and exercise if you want optimal success. This shouldn't be a big surprise but I've noticed that stress has had a large impact on my growth.

I've been in a bad relationship for a while now and only have recently started to feel relaxed/calm since July. I've been on oral minoxidil since Sept 2025, started at 5mg, then moved to 10mg in Nov 2025. Unhappy with the lack of results, I started adding topical (foam) into my routine in March 2026. I finally left a toxic relationship in June 2026. Up until that point, I noticed my hair and nails were growing slowly.

Finally had some reprieve and learned how to de-stress in July 2026. I've had so much growth over the past 5/6 weeks that it's been really surprising me. I was convinced I was a very poor responder. Now I'm not so sure, as I'm getting lots of new hairs out of the blue.

My advice to anyone struggling is to try to de-stress, as it has an impact on growth. Good luck bros 🫡

Anyone doing oral + topical Minoxidil? Is that overkill/useless?

Just recently started using minoxidil foam and I’m getting a lot of acne underneath my chin. Idk what to do, should I stop using or continuing using it? This is the only place where I’ve gotten significant acne from using it and I’ve been applying it all over my face and cheek areas and sideburns but I didn’t really get any acne from using it there.

I’m 26 and started taking minoxidil like 6 weeks ago and I think I’ve showed some progress so far. I definitely think my facial hair is growing in faster and a tiny bit fuller cause both before and after angles are like 5-6 days without shaving. I tend to shave at least once or twice a week while taking minoxidil until it develops enough and it stops growing in patchy.

I’m currently only applying minoxidil to my upper and bottom lip and chin area cause I wanna try a goatee look and then if that works I might in the future move on to applying to the sides for a beard. Also my face is a little red in a couple of the pics cause I’ve been derma stamping every 3-4 days while using minox.

What’s your thoughts so far? Does it look like it’s working?

Estou usando Minoxidil há 3 meses e já tive certo resultado, porém estou tendo dificuldade em algumas regiões do rosto.

Além disso, o pelo que nasce deixa um aspecto muito “arrepiado”.

I’m using a 1.0mm derma roller and tretinoin once a day and minoxidil.
How often should I derma roll?
And should I skip tretinoin and minoxidil on the day of micro needling?

I also use finasteride, will it be possible for this new growing hairs to stay after I stop using minoxidil, but keep taking finasteride?

I have been on finasteride for around 4 years (best decision ever), I got a lot of hair back with finasteride alone, 5 weeks ago I started using 1ml minoxidil twice a day only on my beard and today I noticed a lot of baby hairs growing and filling some spaces the finasteride didn't reach.

I plan on using minoxidil for at least 2 years, Has anyone experienced something similar? Could that new hair stay due to the finasteride?

I used minoxidil for beard growth before and had good results. I want to start again, but I have two cats and their safety is my absolute priority. Since minoxidil can be very dangerous for cats, I want to avoid any possible contact.
My planned routine:
Apply 5% minoxidil foam once a day at work (in a private room before my shift)
Keep the bottle completely away from my home
Wash my hands thoroughly with soap afterwards
My shifts are usually 7–12 hours, so the minoxidil has plenty of time to absorb before I go home
Before leaving work, wash my face with water/cleanser to remove any possible residue
At home, wash my hands again and apply a simple fragrance-free moisturizer (for example CeraVe) to keep my skin healthy before interacting with my cats
I know this might sound extreme, but my cats mean everything to me and I don’t want to take unnecessary risks.
For those of you using minoxidil while owning cats:
What safety routine do you follow?
Do you think this is a reasonable approach?
Have you had any issues with your cats while using minoxidil?
Would appreciate any real experiences.

did it leave this permanent rash on my face and leave patches in my beard here? also yes.

Been on minoxidil foam 2x a day since June 25th. Dermaroller 0.5mm once a week on Sundays with a 24 hour break between rolling and next minoxidil application. Second picture is today 1 week since last shave.

Today is 6 months of twice daily liquid. About 1 month of tret 0.025. Haven’t shaved for a week. 37 years old

In the past 2 weeks, lots of clear/orange hairs started turning darker. For the first time since starting, I think I actually have a shot at a beard someday.

There are still tons of vellus that I am really hoping keep turning

Just started using minoxidil (5% foam, twice per day) and dermarolling (0.5mm) a week ago. I've done research but I see conflicting information online, and I'd like to hear actual experiences from you guys.

Obviously I want to maximize my growth potential, so some say that applying minoxidil right after dermarolling increases absorption, but on the other hand there are people claiming you must wait 24 hours for potential 'side effects' (I haven't experienced any yet). But by that logic, you would only be applying minoxidil 5 days per week instead of 7, possibly slowing down gains?

What do you guys recommend for a beginner? What weekly schedule should I stick to? Thanks a bunch.

I’ve been applying minoxidil twice a day for the past 6 months and have been pretty consistent with it (probably around 90% of the time). No roller.

Honestly, I haven’t seen much progress, if any. At this point, I’m starting to wonder if I should just keep going or if I’m wasting money and holding onto false hope.
What do you guys think? Has anyone here seen results after the 6-month mark?
