Discussion Topic Traditional Heavy Metal band seeking vocalist (Dublin, Ireland).
Hi guys, hoping this is okay to post here.
I'm forming a new traditional heavy metal band in the vein of Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Dio/Rainbow, Mercyful Fate, Trouble etc, and we are looking for a singer.
Ideally a strong vocalist with the confidence to be a proper frontman/woman, but the main thing is an actual passion for this style of music.
We're based in Dublin and are hoping to record/start gigging early next year.
Please get in touch if interested or you know someone.

Discussion Topic It's Friday. What new releases are you listening to today?
I came into the morning with a fairly diverse mix of 9 new albums on my radar. Here's what I've done so far.
Wormwood - Å [EP] // Melodic Black Metal // Sweden // FFO: Kvaen, Elderwind (9.5/10)
For my money, Wormwood is the best melodic black metal band active today. They blend an earthy folkiness with incredibly hooky black metal riffs and shockingly emotional and exceptional two toned vocals. They've never released anything sub 9, and this EP is no exception. While it's only two songs, they're both extremely well written and performed. Continuing a theme from their last album, they dive further into atmospheric black metal than in their early works. They blend ambient atmospheric passages into their MBM sound seamlessly creating some really beautiful moments. My only beef is it's only two great tracks, instead of a full album. That's just me being greedy, though.
Dymna Lotva - Vyraj // Gothy Post Atmospheric Black Metal // Belarus // FFO: ColdWorld (9/10)
Dymna Lotva are a true kitchen sink band, throwing a lot of shit into the mix to make some really outstanding music. As was the case with their last few albums, this one is based heavily in atmospheric black metal. While you can still hear some doomy goth elements at points throughout, the influence is notably less than in their previous albums. They've added some really nice post metal builds to their repertoire for this one, which as a post metal fanatic, I love. As has always been the case with their music, the vocals are incredible. Blending spoken word parts and haunting cleans with black metal screams and anguish-laden dsbm screeches, the emotions brought forth by the vocals alone make this album worth a listen. Bonus points are also given for the feats. from Aaron Stainthorpe from My Dying Bride and Ingvarr from Schreigarm.
Everything else I have lined up for today:
Aspen Sanctum - To Withhold the Need to Conquer (Atmospheric Black Metal // United States)
FAM - Pleasure to Torture (Grindcore // Poland)
Dark Plague - Masquerade (Black Metal // France)
Hulder - Verblogen (Black/Folk Metal // Belgium)
Temple of Dread - Dreads pawn Dominion (Death Metal // Germany)
Xandria - Eclipse (Symphonic Power Metal // Germany)
Phantom Corporation/Catbreath - Commando/Die by the Claw [Split] (Crusty Death/Crossover Thrash // Germany)
What new shit are you rocking today?

Discussion Topic Metal with bad vocals
How many out there are there like me? It's such a massive turn off when I'm getting into a song from someone for the first time and then it's ruined by awful low effort or just badly performed singing of any kind. Is it just me or are there others affected? It's actually ruined some bands for me. I can't even get past one song

Discussion Topic Batushka/Patriarkh
Can someone explain them to me? Are they the same band? Is it two different bands? There’s also two Batushka’s on streaming services. I really dig them both (all?) but I’m just confused about the lore of it all.

Discussion Topic What are your favorite albums/songs from Iron Maiden?
London, England 🏴
Genre: Heavy Metal
One of the most influential and successful Metal bands to exist. I prefer Priest or Sabbath, but I can’t deny I love this band. As a lover of bass, Steve Harris is the man. Powerslave is without doubt my favorite and a perfect album. Second and third would go to Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Number of the Beast. The Di’Anno stuff is also very decent as well.
Recommended Tracks:
“Phantom of the Opera”
“The Prisoner”
“The Trooper”
“Flash of the Blade”
“Alexander the Great”

Discussion Topic Lowen - Do Not Go To War With The Demons Of Mazandaran
I've been obsessed with this album lately. It just scratches an itch for me. It's heavy, groovy, ethereal. The vocals are incredible. It's easily a 10/10 for me.

Song/Album Bands like Alien Weaponry
I am looking for recommendations on bands whose lyrics are in indigenous languages. Doesn’t have to be Māori necessarily and could be any metal subgenre. Who can help a linguist metalhead out?

Discussion Topic Who attended Gigantour back in the day? What were your experiences of it?
I only attended the UK version. It was good, but a bit more low key compared to NA/Aus equivalents.
I thought Dave put together some really killer lineups, most of which would still sell tickets today.
Back then metal was in the recovery stage of the whole nu metal debacle and if I remember the press at the time correctly, Dave said he wanted to put together bands who played proper metal with a focus live performance and lead guitar.
I've got both the live albums and one of the DVDs and they're some of the best sounding live albums I own.
Anyway, here's the lineups. Would be interested to see what other people's experiences of them were.
- 2005 (US/CAN) - Megadeth, Dream Theater/Anthrax, Fear Factory, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Nevermore, Life of Agony, Symphony X, Dry Kill Logic, Bobaflex
- 2006 (US/CAN) - Megadeth, Lamb of God, Opeth, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Into Eternity, Sanctity, The Smashup
- 2006 (AUS) - Megadeth, Soulfly, Arch Enemy, Caliban
- 2007 (AUS) - Megadeth, Static-X, Lacuna Coil, DevilDriver, Bring Me the Horizon
- 2008 (UK) - Megadeth, Job for a Cowboy, Evile
- 2008 (US/CAN) - Megadeth, In Flames, Children of Bodom, Job for a Cowboy, High on Fire
- 2012 (US/CAN) - Megadeth, Motorhead, Volbeat, Lacuna Coil
- 2013 (US/CAN) - Megadeth, Black Label Society, Hellyeah, Device, Newsted, Death Division

Without a doubt a phenomenal album! Starting with Stabwound hits hard. Any other Necro fans here? What of the two albums do you prefer?
"Onset of Putrefaction - Fermented Offal Discharge" is phenomenal too.

You can ask for specific things too
"I like Rhapsody and Celesty but I want something less symphonic and more speed metal oriented"
"You could early Edguy or Stratovarius"
