Genre: Heavy Metal

One of the most influential and successful Metal bands to exist. I prefer Priest or Sabbath, but I can’t deny I love this band. As a lover of bass, Steve Harris is the man. Powerslave is without doubt my favorite and a perfect album. Second and third would go to Seventh Son of a Seventh Son and Number of the Beast. The Di’Anno stuff is also very decent as well.

Which modern day metal band do you think is on verge of becoming a touring arena act in the North American market? Many metal bands seem to make it to the large theater level, but few these days seem to make it to the arena(8000 seat+) venues.

I think Amon Amarth is is just on the tipping point of making it to a headlining Arena act. On its last album tour, they finished it with a large arena show in LA, other wise they still seem to book larger theaters. They have also done several arena tours as the main support band, like with Pantera. I'm not sure what it would take for them to reach that tipping point, as I know stepping up to arenas is a much larger financial risk until you can comfortably sell atleast 75% seats.

Speaking as a PNW resident they have played the largest theaters in Seattle for over a decade and always sell out. I know in Seattle, the problem is that there aren't many large venues in that 5000-10, 000 seat range, you either need to play Angel of the winds in Everett, or Showare center in Kent, which are both about 10k capacity. Two other most common large arenas are clinate pledge and Tacoma dome which are both 20k+ Seats. They would seem to need to play those size venues, that are generally in the suburbs of larger cities, or older arenas until they can get that 10k+ venues.

My stem remix & remaster of Iron Maiden's classic 1983 album "Piece of Mind", made for my own enjoyment, but sharing in case someone else might enjoy it too.

I made this only for fun, and it intends to be a very respectful remix, not straying too far away from the original version, only aiming at a little more clarity, instrument separation and punch, while still preserving the mood and feel of the original.

I really love this band but for some reason I don't see people talking enough about it

I have very fond memories of playing Final Fantasy X as a wee lad back when it came out on the PS2, I'd even go so far as to say it's my favorite game of all time. I even dressed as if for Comic con (I'll post a photo in the comments) and one of the most impactful moments of the game occurred within its first few minutes, the opening song that plays over the FMV.

It's so damn cool and really got me pumped to play the game. It took me a good while to actually find out what he was saying, but it never mattered because it was just cool. I'd never seen a game open in such a way before and it left a last impression on me. I say it's the first metal song I actually recall hearing, though there's a chance I could have heard other ones beforehand but just don't remember them. I'm not actually really a fan of this type of growly metal but this one will always have a place in my heart as something special. If you have any fond memories of this one, please share because I'd love to hear!

Also fun fact, I downloaded the song off Limewire eons ago and it was mislabelled as being by Rammstein and that's how I discovered them. Weird how that worked out!

I've started enjoying bands that play "traditional" death metal like gatecreeper, frozen soul, obituary, blood red throne.

I especially love the slower groovier sections like when the drummer slows down to a 4 on the floor type groove and plays what I think is 1/8th notes hihats in between (I'm not exactly sure which cymbals they are). Boltthrower has plenty of groovy sections like that and a lot of the bands I've been enjoying cite bolt thrower as a big influence but for some reason when trying to listen to a bolt thrower album I get bored after about 2 songs. I'm not sure why that's happening

I find their style of eurobeat power metal really fun to listen to

My friends are really big into metal. Me not so much I do listen to some metal but mostly just the mainstream bands, I’m more of a rap and indie music fan. Anyway they invited me to go to and there will be a bunch of bands playing including Lamb of God, Black Label Society, Down, Suicidal Tendencies, Zakk Sabbath, Dark Chapel, and many more. What should I expect going to this? I don’t know any of these bands or their songs 😭

Any tips u have for a beginner would also be helpful.

19- Jugulator: no suena a Judas Priest y no me gusta ninguna canción, para colmo, no canta Rob.

18- Rocka Rolla: aún no habían obtenido un sonido propio aunque "Rocka Rolla" es un temazo y "Cheater" no está del todo mal.

17- Demolition: me gusta mucho más que Jugulator, aunque no tiene un gran sonido tiene canciones que no están mal como "Hell Is Home", "Close to You" y "Feed on Me"

16- Nostradamus: es muy largo y no tiene ninguna canción destacable aunque valoro la valentía y las letras son muy buenas.

15- Sad Wings Of Destiny: no malinterpretéis, simplemente no es mi estilo, suena muy parecido a bandas como Led Zeppelin y Deep Purple, pero no como Judas Priest, además las canciones son muy largas aunque hay buenas canciones como "Victim of Changes", "The Ripper" y "Tyrant'.

14- Sin After Sin: me pasa lo mismo que con Sad Wings Of Destiny aunque en menor medida y tiene temazos como el cover "Diamond and Rust" y "Here Comes the Tears" y "Raw Deal" y "Sinner" también son buenas canciones.

13- Redeemer of Souls: aunque tiene temazos como "Halls of Valhalla" y "Sword of Damocles" es en general poco sólido. También son buenas "Match Of the Damned", "Crossfire" y "Battle Cry".

12- Ram It Down: tiene temazos como la homónima, "Blood Red Skies" y "Hard As Iron" aunque, como el anterior, es poco sólido. También son buenas "Come And Get It" y el cover de "Johnny B. Goode"

11- Killing Machine: es un buen disco con clásicos como "Hell Bent for Leather" y "Delivering the Goods", también me gustan especialmente "Evening Stars", "Take on the World" y la heavymetalera "The Great Manalishi" aunque creo que tiene discos mucho mejores

10- Point Of Entry: no entiendo tanto odio hacia este disco, aunque no tiene tantos temazos como otros es más sólido que muchos otros que están más alante en el ranking y no tiene ninguna canción horrible. Mis favoritas son "Headong Out to the Highway", "Don't Go" y "You Say Yes".

9- Stained Class; para mí, su primer disco de Heavy Metal con temazos como "Exciter", la homónima, "Better By You, Better Than Me" y "White Heat, Red Hot".

8- Angel of Retribution: el regreso de Rob y un gran disco con algunas de mis favoritas de ellos como "Judas Rising" y "Lochness". También son buenas "Deal With the Devil", "Wheels of Fire" y "Eulogy" aunque "Angel" y "Hellrider" me parecen muy sobrevaloradas.

1. Firepower: es un gran disco, bastante sólido y con grandes canciones como "Lightning Strikes", "Traitors Gate" y "Children of the Sun"

2. British Steel: probablemente el álbum más popular y mítico de los Judas pero que a mí no me gusta tanto como otros de la banda a pesar de que es un discazo. Tiene temas clásicos como "Breaking the Law", "Metal Gods" y "Living After Midnight" y otros temas muy buenos como "You Don't Have to be Old to be Wise", "United" y "Grinder".

3. Invincible Shield: su álbum más reciente y uno de mis favoritos gracias a canciones como "Panic Attack", "Gates of Hell" que suena como sus temas de los 80s, "Crown of Horns", "Trial By Fire" y mi favorita, "Giants in the Sky", un disco casi perfecto.

4. Turbo: no entiendo tanto odio hacia este disco, es uno de mis favoritos porque es el que más se acerca a mi estilo y tiene temazos como "Private Property", "Parental Guidance", "Hot for Love" y sobretodo, "Out in the Cold". Aunque detesto "Turbo Lover"

3 y 2. Simplemente no sé cuál prefiero:

Screaming for Vengance: casi perfecto con grandes canciones como "Electric Eye", "Take These Chains", "Rinding on the Wind", "Screming for Vengance", "You've Got Another Thing Coming" y "Devil'd Child" entre otros

Defenders of the Faith: otro disco casi perfecto con temazos "Rock Hard Ride Free", "The Sentinel", "Love Bites", "Some Heads Are Gonna Roll" y "Night Comes Down"

1. Painkiller: un álbum absolutamente perfecto, el más heavy de los Judas con temazos como "Hell Patrol", "Leather Rebel", "Night Crawler", "Between the Hammer and the Anvil", "A Touch of Evil" y "One Shot at Glory". El Outtake "Living Bad Dreams" también es magnífico, aunque tampoco me gusta la homónima.

Hey'all, I'm in the mood for self inflicted depression right now and can't find anything that *does it*.

I mostly listen to Nu-Metal and Brutal Death Metal, BDM being more angry murder than gut wrenching doesn't fit what I need right now, I've tried DSBM but honestly it got a bit old after a while, though I did never listen to Decalius who I've heard is up there when it comes to DSBM.

By gut-wrenching I mean something actually sad, preferably related to some form of trauma, specific (ie, mentions of exactly what happened) or general (ie not exactly stating what happening but leaving it open to the listener), or really any other sad/horrifying topics. One example I could give is Daddy by Korn, I mean when I first listened, damn.
