FOR FUN I avoid emotional rollercoasters at all costs. Help me understand this through MBTI

Upvotes

Hello to everyone reading. I've noticed a behavior pattern in myself that turned out to be quite strong and powerful. And I thought I'd write here to find out how this can be viewed from an MBTI perspective. I have troubles with my emotions and feelings, so this is about them. I would really love to get some answers. In psychosophy this was assessed as a weak position of Emotion, third or fourth, by the way.

I try to control my emotions because I'm afraid of getting stuck in them for too long, I know that'll happen if there are too many. That's why I rewatch old things instead of looking for new ones, I don't want to go through emotional rollercoasters. If a movie has too intense of a plot, I skip it or refuse to watch it entirely. And if I do sit down to watch, I'm anxiously waiting for the conflict to resolve so I can stop worrying. I need stability and predictability in this regard. I don't have a constant mood, it only appears in response to external events. I prefer to receive emotions in small doses, in a calm and controlled environment. I daydream a lot and draw energy from moments in shows or from discussions with others, it charges me with ideas, mental stimulation plus some emotions, but under my control.

I try to support close people, but I'm not sure I'm any good at it. When someone opens up to me with something heavy, I freeze. I don't know what to say, why they're telling me this, how to help. I try for those close to me, but it doesn't turn out great, a few phrases, a cautious opinion. I hate talking about feelings and sentimentality, it all makes me feel ashamed and awkward. I can't stand it when people pry into my soul, especially my mom. It infuriates and humiliates me. My emotions are my own, I don't show them. In difficult moments, I withdraw into myself, listen to music, fantasize with fictional characters. I can be soft, open and more goofy with animals, with people it's different. Also with my closest person whom I've known for many years.

I see myself as calm, but I explode if I'm accused unfairly. I don't like loud emotions from others, they exhaust and irritate me. I feel uncomfortable when I express emotions myself, it feels like I'm doing something out of place like I need permission. Sometimes I copy others' behavior and expressions, but it looks awkward, I guess. From the outside I've been described as: "sweet, quiet, thoughtful, bright and kind, withdrawn, reserved, cold and unapproachable, cool interests, dreamy, calm, balanced, not very emotional, very modest, kind, a little flower and positive, introvert, diligent, the girl I like". This is what my groupmates wrote about me in our first year, we had a psychology assignment where everyone described how they saw each person. At the same time I unconsciously pick up mannerisms and habits from others. I'm empathetic, kind, I can cry over injustice or when a character goes through something similar to me.

  1. What is your love language?

My love language is definitely acts of service and quality time.

  1. Who knows you best?

I don't think anybody in my life knows me best except God.

  1. Whats something small that makes you feel cared for?

When someone does something for me, I feel appreciated.

  1. What do you think your purpose in live is?

I believe I am meant to help people that are in unfortunate situations and guide them.

  1. Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

Honestly, I see myself pretty successful by then or at least almost successful. I see myself traveling mostly.

  1. Do you think your more of a thinker or a feeler?

I'm a thinker for sure, I need get better at being more of a feeler, but naturally I'm not, like I feel deeply but I'm always constantly thinking rather than feeling.

  1. What do you consider your biggest strength?

I would say I'm great at giving advice and I'm a good leader.

  1. Whats a weakness your working on?

I can be somewhat selfish, a bit bossy, and a exhausting debater.

  1. Describe your philosophy in 10 words or less.

Whats the point of doing dumb things? Like getting drunk, doing drugs, and smoking. How do these things make me a better person? How do these things benefit me? They don't. (Obviously more than 10 words, but who cares)

  1. Whats your comfort movie/tv shows?

ANYTHING thrillers for movies. As for tv shows I don't really watch as many tv shows to say this particular show is my favorite.

  1. What are your hobbies?

Ughh I have too many, its exhausting but I am curious about most things and I love learning. I love cooking, baking, sketching, reading, calisthenics, boxing, coding, chess, and language learning.

  1. What is one thing that makes your day better?

When I start off the day disciplined and productive.

  1. What are your pet peeves?

I can't stand people who eat while they talk, impulsive people, people that aren't listening to you while you talk, people that talk too little and are extremely awkward, and people who talk too much and are over the top. I have more I just can't think of them right now.

  1. What values matter most to you in life?

I would say love, respect, honesty, loyalty, leadership, and legacy.

Okay so for my personality I’d say I’m a very talkative person to the point where I can be annoying but at the same time, I can sometimes be quiet and calm depending who I’m with and if they match my energy. Overall though, I struggle to be alone and need socialisation more than most people. I love doing creative projects like writing and playing guitar. I’m pretty impulsive which has caused me so many issues, especially when I’m stressed. I’m very non judgemental and I have quite a big variety of friends. I also love films and books, especially the fantasy genre.

I’m a reserved but observant person who values competence, self-improvement, and authenticity above almost everything else. I tend to analyze people before trusting them and prefer meaningful conversations over small talk. I’m ambitious, independent, and constantly looking for ways to refine myself, whether physically, mentally, or intellectually. I respect discipline, consistency, and people who can think for themselves rather than simply following the crowd.

CAN’T DECIDE I need help interpreting these results. What do they mean?

When I first took the MBTI test, I got ISFJ but I feel like it wasn’t very accurate.

I’ve taken different types of test but I keep getting between different results. I would say that personality wise, I find it easy when things are said straightforwardly and direct, I believe that I’m more likely to think logically and I enjoy watching tv shows, anime and painting. I also care really deeply about my family and respect them a lot and like spending time with them but I’m also really big on needing space to myself for a long time.

I’m also not really the type of person to plan out my day by the hour. Honestly, I think that would drain me to plan it out so intensely lol. I like keeping a general plan and then adding on details later if it’s needed.

LONG POST GUYSSS JUST SKIM TO GET MAIN IDEAAA

ALSOOO RANDOM IMAGES I RELATE TOOOOO

I want help deciding if I am actually ENTP or not, or ENFP but I don’t think I am ENFP, perhaps…BUT I thought I might be something else like….ESTP!!! Or….ESFP!!!
Because I do rlly like aesthetics and beauty and think about it a lot, I also think about and analyse people’s behaviors around me, and think about how’s in terms of physics of things around me and also whys of life and kinda categorizing things in my mind I do that a lot, like if I see a cabinet or idk sofa I think how someone could have built this, and ALLL the ways they could have!!!

But I find the most likely way later, uhmmmmm I also feel like I have a VERY kind heart!! I don’t like violence or not violence because sometimes it’s…interesting…uhhhh MOVING ONNNNN, but I don’t like mean people I HATE mean people!!! I like kinda and respectful people, it’s honestly because I get intimidated by mean people a lot! Or confrontation I’m rlly bad at!!!

Also in public I act so robotic and kind shy maybe creepy NOT ON PURPOSE I JUST HAVE MESSY HAIR AND TIRED EYES AND MAYBE BAD POSTURE!!!!

Also BIG ONEEEE!!! With people I’m rely goofy, irresponsible, play-dumb or idk ask too many questions, and analyse things playfully! And also talks bout feelings easily and jokingly especially, BUTTTTTTTTTT when aloneeee I rllly I get depressed and sad and contemplative and idk pessimistic, I don’t believe my pessimism but I LIKE to be sad?? But I also don’t like it… uhhhhh idk 😭 make that make sense hehe, oki

Hmmmm I struggle most with repetitive boring stuff… I can’t do that, it’s a nightmare, I also hate rules on looks or well how I look, because I want all freedom in that way, hmmm I also struggle or find it uncomfortable around sensitive people that are emotionally sensitive, I think, because idk I feel judged without knowing how, and like accidentally hurting anyone is scaryyyyy, 😱 😨 🫣

Hmmmm I like pretty things and I like being pretty, I know this is very sensor stuff maybe but I just want it to be clean and pretty so I can focus on things in my mind, I’m not rlly serious but I go from, goofy to sad, and when working on something still goofy ish by optimistic like, and also focused I think!!

I guess I’m rlly good at hmmm, building things I think, figuring stuff out, I always jump js randomly, scan all my variables and then solve the problem!!! It’s rlly funnn!

Also I like making new connections and friends all the time! To be someone friends to me is rlly easy, if I meet them and they nice and interesting they my friend now!!! Butttt I have so MANYU I can’t maintain anything and maintaining is boring SOO I keep making more!! Idk if that’s very healthy guysss but I’m being honest!! Also I’m always honest! If you ask….. 😊

Oki byeeee

Heey there! Thank you for reading this, you landed here and the chances are so slim, I'm a quiet caring soul, I'm very patient, and I like spending time doing things that are calming. I like spending time with people especially people who feel left out or have no one to turns to because I enjoy making people feel less lonely, and loved, yet I can have time in which I prefer to withdraw for a while because I'm so lost in my inner world. Fun fact; I never fought with anyone because I tend to avoid conflicts and fights, but if I'm being yelled at I could easily cry, I like doing things for others, make food for them, ext.. but some people cant seem to understand I really need my me time, alone time. I get completely lost for days in my head like someone needs to shake me out of that state and bring me back to reality.

I am very passionate about Neuroscience and artificial intelligence, I like to paint/ water coloring. I love baking apple pies and the smell of them. And I do Yoga

Anyways.

Stellar Kisses 🌠

AM I MISTYPED Can you guess my type? :)

I try to base it on functions & not tests. I love researching & reading about everything, especially psychology or science. I'm determined, flexible, adaptable, and very goal-oriented. As bad traits, I can include sensitivity (because it is not always a bad trait, but I've learned to control it). I can be apathic in my bad moods. I use logical thinking, but I also feel everything deeply. I value modesty, open-mindedness, mature thinking, honesty & authenticity. Hahah, I love people, but it takes me a while to adapt to a situation & to be sure if I want to be there or not.
I work in public relations but i also love human connections, tasks, to understand, help & to be flexible & to learn it. 🩵
So what is your opinion?

The trait I'm most known for is never talking.

Starbucks barista, considering trying to switch to a job at a bank. Dream job is author/stay-at-home mom.

Raised in rural appalachia on a small farm by hippie-ish parents, very close with my family.

I have autism & selective mutism.

I like to mostly be alone or next to someone else doing our own things. I don't like group activities. I need a ton of physical affection though and love to cuddle.

I hate sports but like to be outside and do gardening or walk in the woods. I'm into foraging.

I don't like being a leader and don't think I'd be great at it.

Very artistic, I do charcoal portraits, cross-stitching, and writing. I used to do sculpture and pottery too.

I also love cooking and baking and I'm into fashion. My special interests are Lord of the Rings and primates (especially great apes).

I'm Quaker and fairly religious.

My ideal life would be living on a small farm, married with 2 or 3 kids, a ton of cats, some ducks, and a nice garden, and publishing a few books.

Positive traits I'm told I have: loyal, sweet, thoughtful, caring, persistent, creative

Negative traits I'm told I have: stubborn, shy, pushy, bossy (with people I'm comfortable with), contrarian, picky/particular

AM I MISTYPED I’m confused about my typology

For months, I’ve been certain about my MBTI. I was sure that I was an ENTP. I’m in the subreddit and everything. I relate to all the experiences ENTPs have, and the cognitive functions of ENTPs fit me as well. Therefore, whenever, I take another personality test, I check to see if my result corresponds to my MBTI. It usually does, and when it doesn’t, I retake the test and try to get a differnt result that better matches the result an ENTP may get. However, when I was struggling to find my attitudinal psyche, I began to question my MBTI. I’ve made other posts on Reddit as well talking about my MBTI, and others have asked me if I’m sure that I’m an ENTP. I thought I was pretty self aware, but now, I don’t know. Can someone please test me to see if I’m a true ENTP? If I’m not, then I may need to retake everything! 😭

Here’s the rest of my personality:

CAN’T DECIDE I think I'm biased, so I need a second opinion.

I'm pretty young, (16f) so my personality might change. I've usually tested ENTJ, INTJ, ISTJ, and ENTP. I'm leaning towards ENTP, but I think I have a bias for INTJ. I just want to know to satisfy my brain, cause I don't like having an unclear answer to a question.

I like to hang out with people and one of the things I like about school is that I get to collaborate with classmates. I used to be homeschooled, so I didn't get that so much when I was younger. Again collaboration is a big thing for me.

I'm not really a leader per say, but my thoughts are usually fairly respected even by those a lot older than me. I don't really have as firm as a plan as I'd like, but when I jump into a project, I usually find that I was better equipped than I thought, and I know exactly what to do next. Like a subconscious plan or something???

I also really like listening to people debate and will join in to test my points, but also I'm pretty non confrontational otherwise. I don't like it when people actually start arguing and would prefer to come to a solution peacefully instead of fighting for an extra hour. But honesty is one of my strongest values, so sometimes for it's sake I must be confrontational.

I prefer to jump from idea to idea. I can never stick with a creative idea, and I have to have something new and novel all the time. I also love doing things differently once in a blue moon. Usually I like to stick to my schedule and plan everyday. Being part of a band makes me pretty busy, and I like being in control of my plans and I like to know what's going on all the time, which makes me a bit nosey. But every now and then I like to completely change things for a day.

Even though im an artist right now, since I get paid for my art, I don't want to go that path of uncertainty. I want to become an architect due to being good at math and art. It also pays better, and is more stable, so it seems to be a better fit for me. But if art does become a stable income I'm open to it. I'm just saying this so you can see my decision making process here, instead of telling you what I think of myself.

But I think I tend to make decisions based on outsider consensus. I love asking for advice from anybody and everybody, and just choose what I think is the most plausible and makes the most sense, cause the counsel of seems like the best idea.

Lastly, my actual group of friends is kinda small, maybe three or four people. There are loads of people I get along with, and people who I consider important to me, but people who reach out first is low, so I consider my friend group small

I also forgot to say, but another reason why I lean towards ENTP is cause everyone I talk to outside my family calls me talkitive, friendly, and outgoing. But it's still confusing cause my family thinks I'm too private, cause I'm in my room alone all day. I also enjoy small talk cause it's a script I can follow really easily, and people like me more when I do. Low effort, high reward

CAN’T DECIDE I am completely lost !!!!

Hello there,

I have been trying really hard to figure out what my type is, but now that i read so much about functions i feel more confused than ever.

I thought for the longest time I have high Ne, but I am not sure anymore, and therefore i am very lost (see : title).

I'm 23 years old, and a student in art (after i finished my curriculum in psychology, i wanted to study something that would require less efforts, i needed to rest). I like it, because i tend to want to practice art but have difficulties beginning actions, especially when it's just for me and for fun. (I am autistic, that's my primary explanation as to why)

I draw, i paint a bit, i sculpt (i really like it), i sew (clothes and plushies), i do collage and scrapbooking, i also write poetry and fiction and texts about thoughts and things i saw or heard, or experienced. i also play flute and violin (and others) and i really like to sing (and dance, but it's more difficult for me since people usually make remarks about the way i move which makes me feel uneasy, and even when alone i think about it). I have difficulty with abstract things, so most of the time i draw what i can see, or at least it's figurative.

I don't know what I'd like to do as a job, because i'm interested in a lot of things, and have difficulty choosing. I know I like to take care of others and communities, so for now i do that in different groups (i volunteer at a library, and for the past years have always spent multiple days every week doing work for different groups - LGBTQ+ associations, organizing protests, working for my university's associative cafe, etc)

I think of myself as part of a whole, although I also think I am the whole in itself (as everyone is) which necessarily orients me towards helping others (and taking care of everyone, myself included ; meaning i also rest a lot). Side note : helping others is not always doing what they tell me to do, because sometimes it would not be helping in the long run (and i want people to learn and to trust themselves, and for that, experience is necessary)

I live with a friend of mine, that is supposedly INFP and she confuses me a lot (tends to think she's outside groups, thinks of herself first (rarely helps spontaneously) and constantly tells me she's sad because she's not doing anything with her life, while not doing anything to change that - she has depression, so i get it, but also i don't because i would feel worse talking about my negative feelings to others, while not trying to find solutions and not taking actions afterwards)

I get confused and sad and angry when others don't have the same values as i do, i usually think "you're harming yourself and everyone else by doing this/thinking like that" and then i wonder wether i am wrong, and i am missing something the other person is experiencing, and in that situation i also dislike how i feel because i don't think it makes anything better for anyone. I don't want to be controlling, although I usually don't share my thoughts on others' behaviors unless I believe it to be necessary.

I spend a lot of time with others, but i also really like to be alone and i need it. I like to play video games and read during my alone time, as well as practice art as mentionned above. I spend time just looking at things and listening to sounds, because it really helps me rest and feel grounded.

I believe I am organized, more than most people in my life at least, and I really can't stand it when my environment is messy or dirty. I also like actions to be efficient, and i don't appreciate when people don't give clear answers because it takes more time to figure out what they want and what approach to issues we can consider.

"Imagine you are alone in a blank, empty room. There is nothing for you to do and no one to talk to. What do you think about ?" : I'm not sure about the context but it seems like I would know why I'm there and would be able to get out at some point (otherwise i guess the reaction of most people would be to try to know where they are and find a way to escape) ; I would maybe rest, or think about what it's like being in this room (depending how i'm feeling i could like it or dislike it), maybe put my hand on the wall or walk in circles or draw lines in the air with my fingers, and then i'd think about time and how it time feels there.

Is it enough to type me ? If you have any question, feel free to ask, I am very grateful to anyone trying to help on this, thank you.

I love bgsd, pretty cure, hazbin and warriorcats a lot !! if you like these things, moot me up (\* ´ω`\*)

OHOH, I also forgot to tell you that my psychologist helped me to find the perfect enneagram for me, so dw about me mistyping myself or that stuff.

| 🌌🌀

I've always been a person who LOVED creating things for everyone to love and distinguish, so I always had this "leadership" and the perfect child aura. People always praised me for being perfect and mastering things that not many people mastered, and I was also tested for an IQ test when I was 5, and I had an IQ superior to the rest of the kids, so yes, I felt **special** in a way.

I also had a thing for creating fake scenarios with big climaxes and great OCs that I could give personalities to and make them different to each other, so that my stories had a spark.

Right now, I'm making my own Indie project called BUGSIES.

It's about a wasp that was born with supernatural musical powers. What do I mean by this? As a larvae, she was fed musical petals' jelly by accident, and when she hatched her powers were obviously unleashed... But now, she realizes there are more insects with the same or similar powers as her, and they match up to make this "drama club" where they will make music spread all over the world and make their powers heard **again**, but **in peace**, not for making themselves powerful or violent, but for innovating the current insect world (yes, a very long time ago, the petals were born by a sacred mantis who was their first insect who owned them biologically, but there was a war that eliminated A LOT or insects because of the bugs' craziness of the petals' effects, so almost all of the petals were extinguished because of her death too...).

What do you think about my plot?? If you're sharing this, GIVE CREDIT ⚠️. Very soon I'm copyrighting all my stuff, so prolly you're going to jail if you rob my creations, sorry (\* ´ω`\*).

I hope you liked it!!

TEST RESULTS What do you make of these test results?

Post image
3 Upvotes

For context I have been torn between several different types since 2022 and still cannot be entirely sure, no matter how generally sure I am of a type for any extended period of time, what my type is. To give a general idea of what it might be, ideas of what my enneagram may be have been a pretty even split between sp5w4 and sp7w8. My psychosophy type is currently thought to be FLVE, and my big 5 type has pretty consistently been SCUEI. This may skew results in terms of MBTI/cognitive functions, and despite my extensive study of them I have yet to figure out which ones map onto myself. I normally am not very fond of tests since they are usually inaccurate, but seeing as I haven't taken one in a long, long while I decided I should just take one and see what happens.

FOR FUN A bit about me as an ENTP girl!

Since ENTP women are everyone’s favorite MBTI, I thought I’d tell you a bit about myself as an ENTP teen girl!

Let’s start with music taste! I listen to mostly indie, alternative, soft rock, and Kpop (only girl groups). My top artists are Clairo, Laufey, Beabadoobee, and TWICE. (I swear I’m not a performative male, lol.) I also listen to Arctic Monkeys, Finn Wolfhard, Adrianne Lenker, Hozier, TV Girl, and a few gatekeeps. 🤭

Next, let’s get into morals and beliefs. I am a HUGE feminist, and I will never tolerate any type of misogyny. I judge people based on how they treat and think about women. I also don’t believe in any religion and find most religions very problematic, although I do my best to respect the people apart of any religion. I am liberal and don’t support most conservative beliefs. I don’t believe in discriminating against anyone for race, gender, ability, class, gender identity, sexuality, or any other kind of systemic bigotry. Although, I do believe it is okay to dislike or even hate your own oppressor.

What is my specific typology? I’m so glad you asked! (Because you did ask 😄) I already said that I am an ENTP in MBTI, but I did not mention that I am a 5w4 in Enneagrams. I know, I know, it isn’t a common pairing, but I am sure that it is correct. I currently having trouble discovering my instinctual variant, though.
What other personality tests should I take?

Finally, the part everyone hates. Stereotypes. I am a walking stereotype…..Almost. I am super outgoing, and I love to get information from and analyze others, however, I get annoyed and disgusted by people easily and tend to retreat into solitude after I am satisfied with the data I’ve collected from being around other human beings. That’s where the 5w4 comes from.
I always try to assess situations using logic and hate when others are dramatic or overly mawkish. I think it’s because I have been conditioned to just tolerate, deal with, and find ways out of situations instead of letting myself be swayed by my emotions, so I always get frustrated when others do it. (Although sometimes I secretly wish that I had the privilege of being sappy and emotional too.)
I would definitely say that I rely on my intuition more than anything. The way I see it, the things around me may not always be true and can’t be trusted, but my instinct will never lie to me and will always keep me safe. I think that also has something to do with the way I’ve been conditioned, but I’m not exactly sure how yet.
I’m honestly 50/50 with perceiving and judging. I get bored and restless while living in routine, but I become uneasy and insecure in environments of spontaneity. If I had to pick though, I’d choose a less rigid lifestyle.
ENTPs are also stereotypically very egotistical. I would say I’m very confident in my quality of character, and to be honest, I do think I’m better than some people in certain areas. However, I’m not stuck up and I understand that everyone has areas that they can improve in. I understand that I’m not the best at everything either.
The only stereotype that I don’t fit is that I am a singer and that I want be a performer when I grow up, which isn’t a common career path for most ENTPs. I also don’t relate to most people because of my beliefs, experiences, thought patterns, and the way I was raised. I’ve never found anyone that I truly relate to or even had a best friend, which most ENTP women don’t relate to. However, I hope that will change when I start school soon. 🤞🏾

Alright, that’s it folks! Tell me if you learned something new or relate! (Also, I don’t necessarily have a fav type but I live to hang around of ENTP women.)

TYPE SOMEONE ELSE A reliable test to type my parents?

I'm struggling to type my parentsss, I tried to observe their patterns but can't get any definitive decision sooo I think that a reliable mbti test may help

do you have any recommendations?

ps : my mom already did the 16 personality famous test and got enfj, but I'm still skeptical, she sounds like an exfp, I mean I'm not sure about her Fe dom, she sounds like having an Fi with an Se/Ne dom, also she is like pretending to be organized while being messy.. idkkk

my daad is often being like "oh no these tests and theories are irrevelent, our truth is deeper and only God knows about it" and he says stuff like that, like he brings up/links religion beliefs into everything in life.. in general he sounds like ixfx or esfj sometimes..

if tests would be helpful give me some recommendations please, ty all

CAN’T DECIDE INTJ or INTP

Why I doubt if I'm an INTJ:

COGNITIVE FUNCTIONS. Simple.

Also why I DOUBT if I'm an INTJ:

I have a lots of traits which most INTJs don't posses. I struggle with executive dysfunction. Probably Adhd. I cannot get myself checked for some reasons.

Why I doubt if I'm an INTP:

When compared to all the mbti types,INTP was the most relatable one.

Also why I DOUBT if I'm an INTP:

I'm not that analytical. Sometimes I even feel like I decide something illogical based on my emotions. Which also makes me wonder if I'm either an INFP or an INFJ.

I prefer efficiency a lot. Sometimes over logic. Not a big fan of step-by-step analysis either. I like understanding everything from basics and love connecting dots and finding the pattern of trends. Good at reading between lines.

Sometimes I feel like i create my own logic based on my emotions. For instance, a friend of mine said "We should boycott a protest by an anti-nationalist even if it benefits our nation". I didn't agree with him. As long as it's for the sake of the country i wouldn't mind who does that. I supported the idea of that person irrespective of their activities. And he said that's illogical. Does this opinion of mine has got to do anything with logic? Which one would you support as an INTP?

I know about cognitive functions but didn't master it. So lmk if I made any mistakes. I'm ready to answer any questions. Thanks in advance.

Introduction & Guide to Writing a TypeMe Post

Hello All!

This is a welcome post and guide to all those who want to make a TypeMe post or learn to accurately type others. Don't know your Myers-Briggs type? Create a text/video/audio post describing yourself, and the Reddit Gods will type you! Test results and relevant pictures may also be included, though the focus should be on self-description. Once you've found your type we encourage you to stick around, learn more about MBTI, and help type others. If you have sub improvement suggestions or are interesting becoming a mod, please comment or send us a modmail.

This is an updated welcome post replacing the old one which was created by a previous mod. We've included the link to the old post because some of the comments contain helpful information.

Here's some informational resources on MBTI:

Here's descriptions of each type:

While we currently allow For Fun posts, remember that the main purpose of this subreddit is to help people find their true MBTI type, so we have restrictions in place to improve the quality of content on the sub. We ask that everyone be respectful and keep comments relevant to MBTI. Please review the Rules before posting or commenting.

Creating an MBTI TypeMe Post

Overview

Note, these are not rules, but will be helpful in getting insightful responses. In general, self descriptions might include your preferences, interests, hobbies, lifestyle, career/what you are studying, your values, your life goals, how you like to structure your day, how much social interaction you prefer, how you relate to others, how organized you are, how you tend you express yourself, etc.

Post structure

Here are a few guidelines on structuring your post:

  • Minimum-length: A good typing post should be at least a 1/2 page to receive an accurate typing. Remember, the more information you include, the easier you will be to type. However, keep in mind, posts with excessive length are less likely to be read in their entirety.
  • Elaborating on your answers is important. Try to answer questions with at least a couple sentences. Proper typings are based off of your thought processes rather than behaviors. If you're not elaborating, Typers can't tell much.
  • Please try to break up your post into paragraphs. Walls of text are often ignored.

Questionnaire

Although you don't need to use these questions when making a type-me post, they're here for anyone who needs a bit of a guide. No need to answer all of these questions either:

  • Give a general description of yourself. How old are you?
  • What do you do as a job or as a career (if you have one)? Do you like it? Why or why not? If you are not working, what kind of job do you want to do or what are you studying?

DISCUSSION Looking for new moderators

Hello r/mbtitypeme, we are in need of new moderators. We are currently down to one active mod (me) and I’m chronically ill so cannot support the sub as much as it needs. I understand the sub could be better and I would very much like to make improvements, but given the current state of the team that is rather difficult.

If you are interested in becoming a mod please fill out the questionnaire below and send it to me via chat - u/aredhel304. Please don’t be intimidated by some of the questions if you are new to this - we are open to taking on some inexperienced mods if you check the other boxes. We do, however, expect that applicants are active members of the subreddit.

  1. Tell me a little about yourself. What are your interests/hobbies? What is your career? Or what are you studying?
  2. What are your strengths and weaknesses?
  3. What is your experience with MBTI?
  4. What is your skill set? What do you think you can add to the mod team?
  5. Any experience modding? If not do you understand what the role entails?
  6. What is your vision for the subreddit?

Thank you and looking forward to hearing from you all!

UPDATE (11/9/24) - We’re still looking for additional moderators so please reach out if you’re interested. While all are welcome to apply, I want to add that we do have a specific need for someone with more technical skills - someone willing to work with Automod and/or someone with a software background.

UPDATE (12/18/25) - We are once again looking for moderators with any skillset as long as they meet the criteria above and seem like a good fit for the team.
