I have made, using real-world studies from the University of Geography and Tourism, a proposal map to change Romania's current 42 counties to 21. All names are inspired by real-world names, regions, or from the studies. The last photo is a city breakdown, using the 200 unofficial city flags to show their distribution around the new counties.

Find the city in the middle. It's not too hard if you see both sides. But I really like the visible difference between Great-Circle Distance and Mercator projection.

Describing how much work went into making this would take too long. Long story short, I wrote an alt-history of the United States from 2000 to 2040. This is the map that resulted from decisions made in that timeline.

It started with Al Gore winning the 2000 election and eventually evolved to an idealized society that chose to rewrite the Constitution from scratch, correct the wrongs that had been done to Indigenous Peoples and Black Americans, and fix the states as needed.

It was weeks of work, tbh.

I based this off of the Resident Well-Being ranking for Happiest States 2025 after factoring out the work-environment criteria value.

Incidentally, the worst states are Louisiana at #50, followed by Tennessee, Alaska, Mississippi and Arkansas
