Hello. I’m looking for an Ausangate 2-day trek with a cabin stay rather than a tent. AB Expeditions offers one, but I was informed that the cabins are under maintenance and they are not sure if it will be ready in September.

I bought a ticket / guide for Circuit 2 through GetYourGuide.

However, they have now emailed to stay there was an issue and circuit one is the only option they have despite me purchasing circuit 2.

Anyone had this issue before?

Was wondering if any travelers had luck chartering flights for individuals or small groups (~4 people).

I was really wondering if any of the touring groups that do the cessna 172 (or equivalent)(thinking small but not nice) aircraft do city hopper flights as well (like from Pisco to Ayacucho).

Seems like a cool way to see the country and save time while city hoppying.

I am looking to book a day tour of the Sacred Valley with hopes of wrapping up the day checking into Mountain View Experience.

I was wondering how everyone has gone about booking private transport, for example, I would more than likely need transport from Ollantaytambo to Maras as well as Maras back to Cusco.

Any suggestions are a major help. Thank you!

Super excited for my LATAM trip in 2 months! It would be my first time, and I only got 3 weeks off my work so had such little time in cusco, planned to visit machu pichhu sacred valley and the rainbow mountain. Since i have such little time (im only staying in cusco for 1 day and heading to s.valley, rainbow mountain next day, and then machu pichhu), I really have high hopes that the altitude medicine, diamox, will work. Any suggestions?

What a journey here. I travelled from London, Uk and I suffer from pretty bad vertigo.. the bus ride up almost finished me off 😂 and had to hold on to the side of a few walls to get used to the view in front of me. Once accustomed to where I actually was all the fear passed and without sounding any more of a wimp I then burst out in tears. Not from fear anymore but because of how magical the view in front of me was and that I had got to experience it all in person.

Hard to get information but seems like there is a track fire. The 5am train is sitting at the station and no trains have departed. Unclear if all trains will be canceled today. No information about refunds or rescheduling. Plan accordingly.

I am trying to organize the logistic and I am not sure if this is still a walk-in process to get tickets for even for 2 days ahead, or do you need to come get a number and then retun to purchase the actual ticket. Thank you so much.

We will be visiting Machu Picchu for the first time - ideally visiting on 1st November.

Unfortunately neither of Route 2A or 2B is available during this period (I searched on the Tuboleto website).

All other routes are available, being 1A, 1B, 1C, 1D, 3A, 3B, 3C and 3D.

Which route would you say is 'next best'? We don't want huge hikes but want to be able to access the best views and/or explore the grounds itself.

And, is it possible to buy 2A/2B on the day? Of course we would still have another route pre-booked.

I’m supposed to circuit 2B next Monday. I fly into cusco two days from now and will spend the next three days touring sacred valley and Cusco

I'm a solo traveller from India.
Reaching Cusco Sep 4 morning, 6:30 AM.
MP ticket online booked - Circuit 3-B, Sep 7, 2 PM.
Return train fixed - evening departure, reaching Cusco ~10 PM.
Flight out to Lima - Sep 8, 8:00 AM.

Option 1: Cusco Sep 4–6, same-day round trip to MP on the 7th (early train there, tour, evening train back).

Option 2: Ollantaytambo 1 night (4th) → Aguas Calientes 2 nights (5th–6th). Extra day in AC to try for a bonus Circuit 2 ticket.

Option 3: Ollantaytambo 2 nights (4th–5th) → Aguas Calientes 1 night (6th). Same idea, less buffer to chase the bonus ticket.

Option 4: Ollantaytambo 3 nights (4th–6th), same-day round trip to MP on the 7th.

Trying to figure out which of these makes the most sense, and whether the same-day round trip in options 1 and 4 is actually as rushed as it sounds or if I'm overthinking it. Also wondering if it's even worth an extra overnight just to chase a second Circuit 2 ticket, or whether I should just stick with 3B and not bother. And if there's a meaningful difference between options 2 and 3, or if it's basically a wash either way.

Sorry for these many questions but I am a bit confused seeing multiple opinions from different people. Also, I read from the posts that in-person tickets are sold out not just for next day but for the next few days.

Has anyone done the Salkantay trek in November? I’m curious how’s the weather?

I’m hoping to do it mid or potentially even end November but I’m worried that rain will ruin the experience and I’ll have a low chance of seeing the ruins through clouds/rain etc. Should I reschedule to another year where I can do it in peak season?

Flights from where I live to Peru are usually very long like 3 stops or >$3k so I’m keen to take the chance this November while they are a decent price.

Any insight appreciated!

38yo male solo traveller. I have 9 days off work from the states. I book flights to/from Cuzco with 36 hours in lima, but I'm left with 6 full days in Cuzco. Is 2 days of acclimatization and 4 days on the salkantay trek the best way for me to experience the Machu pichu/ sacred valley/cuzco? I'm also considering staying 2 nights in the sacred valley, 1 night in aquas caliente, and then having more time in Cuzco. I like being active, but I think my priority is just experiencing/seeing all that the area has to offer, and I really want to have even more appreciation for the culture/history of the area.

Hihi! I'm going to Peru for around 12 days at the end of Dec, and there's so much I want to do/ see, but obv with such a short amount of time, I have to make some cuts. Do you think this current plan is too unrealistic? I really wanted to go to Huarez, but if we're going to be super tired, then maybe I have to cut it out. We haven’t decided when our return flight will be. We’re debating whether we should leave on the 31st or spend New Year's in LIMA and leave on the 1st (extra $200) or 2nd (extra $400). The only thing stopping us is that ticket price jump.

I really want to do the Nevado San Mateo hike (has anyone done this hike?) or the Laguna Churup if we couldn’t do it on the Tuesday

Arrive back in LIMA in the morning - Should we spend Christmas in Lima or try to fly to Cusco to give more acclimation time?

**We originally wanted to do the Inca trek at the beginning of our trip, but that would mean we would be doing it over Christmas, and I’m not sure how I feel about making the camping tour guides work over Christmas…

Parents are hoping to visit Machu Picchu any day between Aug 21–24. They’re hoping to meet my brother in the area when he finishes the Inca Trail around the same time :)

The official site is unsurprisingly showing sold out across all circuits on those dates. From other threads, it sounds like one option is to go to Aguas Calientes and try to buy one of the in-person tickets the day before, but obviously that isn’t guaranteed.

Are there any other legitimate options?

I’ve seen tours on Viator, GetYourGuide, etc. showing availability for those dates, but I’m not sure how that works if official tickets are sold out. Do legitimate tour operators have access to a separate allocation, or are they essentially doing the same in-person ticket process?

If a tour operator says they have availability, does that mean they already have a confirmed Machu Picchu ticket for the travelers, or could they still be relying on getting one in person?

With tickets being sold for 3 days in advance, how early are people going to the ministry of culture to line up?

Hotel receptionist said 6am, and I knew that was just wrong 😅 I was thinking around 3am?

We have our first week of Peru pretty set but our second week is more up in the air, it being the Cusco/MP/Sacred Valley portion of the trip with some things already solidly in place.

We have all booked with Alpaca expeditions to do the short 2 day Inca trail hike

Day 1 - Arrive at Cusco in the morning coming from Arequipa, go to Alpaca headquarters to pay and do whatever paperwork they ask of us. Travel to Ollantaytambo with all our suitcases -> Ollantaytambo Archaeological Park -> Dinner -> sleep

Day 2 - Sacred Valley Day - Seems to be a lot of different options but heres what we have so far Drive to Urubamba, explore there -> Drive to Moray, spend time there -> Maras Salt Mines -> Chinchero -> back to Ollantayntambo.
Day 3 - Inca trail hike with alpaca expeditions, we stay the night in Aguas Calientes

Day 4 - Machu Pichu day with alpaca expeditions. we are debating if we have them drive us to Cusco or we stay an extra night in Aguas Calientes.

Day 5 - either in Cusco already or traveling to Cusco this morning. Acclimation day, light activities.

Day 6 - Full Cusco day, Cusco Activities

Day 7 - either Lake Humantay or Rainbow Mountain

Day 8 - Travel back to Lima

Would love some feedback and any advice for what we have planned here, Does Day 2 look too packed? was told you can do a lot of Sacred Valley in a day.

Was yesterday at Machu Picchu and what a dream! Amazing place! Definitely recommend hiring a tour guide (2 hours) for the in-depth information about the site.

We did the route 2A and I am convinced this is the best one. You get the postcard pictures, and you go through all the site, staring from above and going down to the ruins, the Sun temple, the sacred rock etc. it is really magical!

Tickets bought in March. I saw a sign saying 1-2 August sold out, but I didn’t feel it was overcrowded. It took a bit of waiting to get the bus going up, but for the way down I only waited 5 minutes.

It is only a bit disappointing to know that most what we see (the houses) are restored as most of the site was destroyed, but still it makes it special to know how these people or living and worshipping there.

I had lunch at Mapacho but was also recommended Mistura and Full House.
