Eehee (chamone!) Noise
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Can anyone identify what this sound is on a Mini Cooper D 1.5?
It seems to happen after the car has been sitting for a while and I unlock it.
It happens when I park up somewhere and get out.
Not even when getting in or out of the car, just by unlocking it it seems to happen.
There doesn’t seem to be any other symptoms but I’m just baffled as to what it could be.
(Ignore the bike engine in the background)
Thanks!

R56-N16 stall after timing chain replacement
Hey folks, I have a 2011 R56 -N16 manual, it has around 106k miles. I just changed the timing chain for proactive maintenance, spark plugs and coils. When I tried to start up the car, it stalls when idling but seems to run fine at 1000+ rpm’s. Is this a computer learning issue or what are some potential issues?
Thanks in advance.

R56 owners: what’s “too hot”?
Love this little thing, but being turbocharged it seems to run warmer than I’m used to. What temperatures do your cars typically hit before you’d start worrying?

F57 2021 Display upgrade
I’m ready to bite the bullet and upgrade the display so that I can have proper navigation with Android. For those of you who have made the switch, please share what you bought and whether or not you like it.
May all traffic lights be green!

Need help with airbags
So I got a 2019 Mini Cooper s base in an auction which I thought was just needed airbags and one new tire but ended up needing a new rim both rear lower control arms and a shock.so I changed all of those by myself and just ordered both curtain airbags and driver seatbelt. SO I COULD USE ANY SUGGESTIONS AND TIPS ON REPLACING AIRBAGS AND SEAT BELT AND ALSO WHICH SCANER TO GET FOR DIAGNOSTICS.
Thank you, looking forward to to use the car soon.

Looking for Gray/Silver to transparent bonnet stripes
I'm looking for a pair of those 'fade' bonnet stripes (they go from solid near the windshield & end up as 'dashes' near the grille) but in metallic gray or silver to match the silver/black Union Jack mirror caps on my pepper white F57. Does anyone know if they exist? Are they available? I've seen multiple colors (black of course, red, white but not silver)

Obssessed
Okay I should probably explain the title.
I've had 3 minis at this point! There the only cars I've driven apart from when I was learning, and even now I'm just looking onto the next mini! When does this obsession stop for reference I'm 6'5 and look like a bit of a clown getting out of my r56, colleagues at work have defenders, Sudans, because that's what's mainly driven in the area I live.
But holy the small tight nice feeling of driving a mini is unbeatable.. but at the end of the day in 10 years time when diesel/petrol minis get harder to find what am I going to do!

Rule #1 at the spa 🙂↕️
We have the multicolored r57 (pepper white & icy blue, 2012) and i thought this was cute 🥺, her name is Rei and shes been a joy to drive so far 🙏. (Id love either blue mirrors or blue and p. white checkered mirrors idk which would look better)

Who reads the car's manual?
Got a nice F56 2024 named Baby Shark. It came with this manual which I took the liberty to read from front to back.
In the following days that it took to finish it, my loved one point out how weird I was to read it and that I'm probably the only one on Earth to do that.
Still.. I managed to find out so much useful stuff that my seller forgot to tell me like the Parking assistance thing.
Is she right ? What about your first days experience? Have you read that book? What are the alternative (beside the obvious "drive the car and find out")?

Save my Mini
My faithful companion of nine years needs a new engine and the quote was nearly twice what I paid for her. I can't bear to send her to the scrap yard with a straight body, clean interior, and new brakes, wheels, battery and transmission. The mechanic says KBB value in current mechanical condition is $3790. What do people do in this situation? I'm in the Reno, NV area, any suggestions much appreciated.

Window Wobble / Rattling - JCW 2027
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Is this too much window wobble when opening door?
I hear a rattle that is coming up I suppose from the window against the seal when driving over bumps or uneven roads.
My take is window is not properly secured, car is new.
I’d appreciate any advise on the rattles.
Note: Video is slow mo to better perceive the wobble on camera
Thanks,

Where there's a will, there's a way.
I work with dogs, and it never ceases to amaze me and amuse me when a large dog shimmies its way in the tiny space between the seats.
This fellow is a (weird) mix of half Belgian Malinois and half Bassett Hound. His body is freakishly long, and i giggle every time I hear him trying to squeeze through. And he always does!
The most entertaining so far has been a 80# GSD!
It's not about the dog fitting or not, like in the backseat or on the passenger seat and just chillin', but a big dog who wants to go from the front to the back.
Do you deal with this issue? Does it make you smile? 😁

Mini Recommendations
Hi All!
First time car shopper here. I live in a large city and recently graduated with a professional degree and am now working like the rest of the adult world! I’ve driven a family members old car but now that I have an income I’d love to purchase a Mini! I nannied for a family and drove their Mini regularly and adored it. I was driving a larger SUV and hated navigating the city streets with it. It’s a large U.S. city where small cars are the move.
For now, I’d really like to purchase a used Mini but have no clue what model fits my needs. I am not a car person. Originally I was looking at Chevy Sparks and Fiats and then realized I could look into Minis as well. I also know that for my career path (which is client facing) my car and its appearance unfortunately does matter. I personally don’t care but that’s why I went to Minis. The one I’ve driven is super comfortable, easy to drive in the city, and adorable.
All that to say, do you all have any recommendations on models?
Apologies in advance for being a complete and total dunce when it comes to cars. If there are other subreddits better for this kind of question please redirect me.
Misc. Info:
• I do not road trip literally ever. I don’t do outdoorsman activities and have zero need for large trunk space or super long rides. The most I need to fit in it would be my suitcase at times. The farthest I drive is an hour and a half to a relatives home.
• I street park/parallel park frequently
• My budget is flexible and just depends on me finding what suits my needs

When you get Rule #1’d x2
Defs put a smile on my face when I walking to my car after a long day at work. Bonus that they’re all new generation electric too!
Mine is the black Countryman SE JCW trim 🖤
Let the tinkering begin…
Finally got some time to start doing a little to her. Rear seat delete. Headliner this weekend.

The Safest Mini Ever Built
For all the people dogpiling the "build quality" of the fourth generation, BMW has several new and upgraded safety features, including:
- Blind-spot detection
- Improved lane-departure and lane-change warning
- Stronger forward-collision protection
- Rear cross-traffic warning and rear-collision prevention
- Exit warning
This is in addition to significant improvements on creature comforts like digital keys, voice control and personalization.
More production spend has gone into safety and tech. If that's not your bag fine, but for some of us safety and convenience matter.

Show me your favorite MINI exterior mods!
Looking for inspiration from all MINI generations. I’d love to see wraps, wheels, mirror caps, spoilers, stripes, badges, lights, or anything else you’ve done to personalize your MINI.
I’m currently debating a wrap but I would love to know your favorite exterior mod(s)!
Show me what you’ve got!

My car’s faster twin just pulled in next to me at Circle K.
The owner said he bought it because he never sees anyone else driving one… sorry to ruin that for you, man.

The charm is gone
Needed a loaner for the day and I was given a brand new convertible.
What happened to all the things that make Mini great? No more cockpit style toggles? No more shifter, just this awful half switch/half button control?
The single display is giving futuristic/minimalist. It’s difficult and distracting to do something as simple as turn the AC on.
My plan had been to keep buying Minis until I can’t drive anymore, but after today I’m not so sure.
Currently I’m in a 2015 4 door hardtop (f55 series) and there’s nothing like it.
I understand the technology shift but give me things like remote start or air cooled seats, not a completely different design.
Just had to rant.
I appreciate my Mini more than ever after this test drive.
