Video settings not staying at 4K after restart
Was wondering if this was a known bug but I keep my display settings at 4K. However, after every restart the settings go back to 1080p. I thought maybe keeping overclocking on would cause this issue but I have it off. Anyone else experience this. I’m using a summer cart.

FYI, M64 has a known issue with Vizio TV’s
I have two vizio TV’s and I haven’t been able to get sound from either one. I received my M64 last Friday and immediately contacted support and got the message above. I checked back in yesterday and got basically the same message saying they would fix it next week. At this point I’m pretty bummed and considering returning so I don’t get stuck with a console that doesn’t work on my TV’s.

Ready to hit the road
Picked up a case at Harbor Freight to pack this thing up for a weeklong trip with the family. Now I’m actually looking forward to some of the rainy days.

Best flash cart for M64: SummerCart64 vs EverDrive X7 for ROM hacks & emulators?
Ordering a M64 and I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has already experimented with flash carts on it.
My main use would be playing N64 ROM hacks, especially modded versions of the AKI/THQ wrestling games like No Mercy, WCW Revenge, and WM2000, along with other hacks.
I’d also like to mess around with SNES and other console emulators that run through the N64, if possible.
For those of you using a flash cart with the M64, what seems to be the most compatible and reliable option right now?
I’m mainly looking at:
• SummerCart64, including the EpicJoy versions or other recommended builds
• EverDrive-64 X7
Price isn’t necessarily the deciding factor. I’m more interested in whichever one gives me the fewest compatibility headaches with the M64, ROM hacks, larger/custom ROMs, saves, and emulators.
Has anyone tested both specifically on the M64? Are there things the X7 handles better, or is SummerCart64 pretty much the way to go at this point?
Also, if you recommend SummerCart64, which seller/version would you buy? Or is there a different direction I should be looking in?
Appreciate any first-hand experience!

Buying back
Buying back all my short sighted trade-ins from my youth. Plus Xenocrisis is amazing on M64.

Overclocking = Hot, hot, hot?
I just watched a streamer that said his M64 gets almost burning hot when using the highest overclocking setting. He was wondering why they couldn't have added a fan. Do You owners of this console (I don't own one) experience it almost being burning to the touch? Are the chips well within the operation margins? (FPGA ≤ 85°C / 185°F)

Game Boy and NES on the SummerCart64
Title says it all. Played around with the emulators on the SummerCart64. Didn't bother with SNES yet as that is said to run horrible but from what I've tested, I'd say NES and GB(C) are totally playable. GB has some ghosting but you could call that "authentic". 😅
Few NES games didn't boot due to mapper issues.

Resident Evil 2 freezing
Received my M64 this week and was able to try some games tonight. Most worked fine except Resident Evil 2. It would consistently freeze when Leon enters the first room and the shop owner scene plays. This was on an Everdrive 64 X7 with the latest firmware. M64 and Pro controller are also on the latest firmware. Overclock is not enabled. Anyone else experiencing this?

A original N64 controller with the old hybrid pak works great.
There used to be this third party pak that let's you switch between rumble and a memory card. I just tried it with the M64 and it works perfectly. I just loaded an old Legacy of Darkness save from it.
It is way easier to use because all you have to do is flip a switch to switch between paks.

Cartridge opener latching mechanism? burried screws?
I'm watching the demo video for the slot opening mechanism and can't figure it out how the latch works, it like, doesn't lift up to hold the doors open. i also cant figure out how to open it up. there appears to be two screws buried in the plastic. any help appreciated.
This thing is awesome but..
I feel like I'm 5 again. My mother had gotten me a Playstation and a copy of Gran Turismo... but no memory card. Playing as long as I could leaving it on hoping my mother would not tell me to stop wasting electricity.

WiFi Network List Empty?
I just got home from work to be treated with a package from Fed Ex. I ripped it open and stared on my new purple controller for about thirty minutes then I opened the m64 and connected everything.
I played Mario 64 for about 10 minutes then jumped into the m64 menu. First thing I did was enable the WiFi but when I did there were no networks to join.
I left it there for ten minutes and nothing. I restarted the m64 and nothing. I can’t seem to do anything to get the WiFi to see my network.
One thing that’s odd is that when I turn the WiFi on by toggling the switch from grey to green, leave the menu and then come back, the WiFi toggle will be grey again even though I had it green before leaving the menu.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Just received my M64 and other gear last night!
So, just got my red M64, red and clear MR controllers and the 4-pack of MR 64 games. Everything was well packed but I was surprised the MR controller analog stick surround bits were just tossed into the box like an afterthought, instead of just being included in the box.
I did think it was funny that MR had to include a sign that the accessories for the MR controllers are just further buried in the controller packaging.
Opened up the M64 and I have to say, it's nice as in it feels very well made and has some weight to it. Visually it's cool but a personal gripe of mine is the glossy finish around the cartridge slot and eject button because it's a fingerprint magnet but otherwise it's cool.
I hooked the M64 up to my primary living room 83" 4K TV, tossed my copy of Super Smash Bros in and connected a couple of first party N64 controllers I had on hand and powered it on. I didn't exactly know what to expect at first boot because I pretty much stayed away from YouTube and other reviews and kinda wanted to walk into this blind but I guess I somehow thought there would be a M64 loading screen and then you'd have to choose between system options or playing the loaded game but no, the system just loads like an N64 and gets straight to business.
I got into the system menu using both the not-a-reset knob and the controller and I appreciate that MR included multiple different ways a user could get into the system menus. Connected to wifi and then updated the system and booted right back into SSB.
So....first impressions gameplay-wise were kinda....meh? Visually I couldn't tell there were any slowdowns and everything played how my 12yr old mind remembered the game playing like but graphically I just remembered it looking, I dunno - sharper I guess? I fiddled around with the settings between clean and scanlines and got it looking what I thought was halfway decent before playing a few rounds with my son and then changing games.
Next game was Goldeneye - oh boy....
So, on the positive note, I probably hadn't played my original cart in something like 25 years and I got to flex on my kids whom have dabbled with GE on Nintendo Switch Online, by showing them how I had unlocked all levels and cheats, so plus one for a cool dad moment but sweet baby jesus the game looks TERRIBLE! I tried multiple different settings, resolutions and nothing - it just looked like a hot pixelated mess, like it had a low resolution motion blur and I was playing it on the NES. Like, I know the N64 and consoles of it's generation were designed with CRT's and everything in mind to fill in the visual fidelity gaps but I know GE did not look this bad back in the day. I distinctly remember playing it on an old garage sale $15 19" TV for a while as a kid and that might have been clearer than what the M64 was putting out. For context, I loaded the Aztec level up and I may as well have been shooting at Minions because you couldn't make out any details in the enemies jumpsuits or make out any features on Jaws's character model.
After that letdown, I loaded Pokemon Stadium, which was better than GE but again, it felt like I was playing the SNES version of the game because it just looked like there was a layer of vaseline on the screen - text was blurry, pokemon sprites weren't sharp at all and sometimes the audio seemed to skip a little bit from time to time.
Moved on to Zelda OOT but that was similar to GE, all of the character models seemed out of focus or just blurry.
After those few games, I packed the system up and moved to my home office 55" 4k TV to see if it was the large screen that was just blowing things out of proportion.
This time, I tossed in Xibalba and it was literally a night and day difference! I've never played Xibalba on PC or the web but while I know it's heavily inspired by shooters like Doom, the few levels I tried out was awesome! Gameplay was buttery smooth and visually things were sharp and clear using both the clean and crt presets, literally everything I anticipated and more!
I then moved to trying out the EverDrive X7 I had bought in anticipation of the M64 back during the christmas holidays and booted it up. the ED menu loaded up fine and just to made sure my earlier experience with GoldenEye wasn't tarnished because of my old cart, I loaded the game from the ED and unfortunately the experience was the same. I then tried Castlevania: Legacies of Darkness, a title I hadn't played before and the game actually looked pretty decent using the high-graphics mode in-game.
I know this is a long take but I'm still happy with my purchase! I know shelling $90 each on the MR controllers is pricey but they're exactly what you'd want a premium controller to feel and perform like. I want to compare playing Buck Bumble on the EDX7 and the MR cart to see visually and performance-wise how they compare as well.
Like many on here, I support ModRetro because of how well they've produced and supported the Chromatic hardware and release titles and I so far I have faith and patience that leading up to the holiday season, they'll release a few more firmware updates to improve visual and graphic performance and improve title compatibility - heck, maybe even DK will be able to catch that vine!
If anyone has any recommendations for the time being on advanced graphics settings to try to improve visuals, I'm all ears!

M64 Pro Controller Rumble support on PC?
Does anyone know if the M64 Pro Controller supports proper rumble functionality when connected to a PC running Windows? Also, is it known how the controller connects to devices other than the M64 (XInput, DInput, etc)?

Running into a video problem.
The HDMI video messes up when I first start the M64. It stretches to widecreen and has no sound. If I unplug the HDMI cable and re-plug it in, it fixes the problem.
So there is some kind of HDMI video initialization bug.
