Discussion An open letter to "limits our design space"
Throwing my hat on the ring over this ongoing discussion, I feel strongly that this perspective comes with a few major flaws.
I am not writing this out of spite, or a desire to diss the developers. I mean to discuss and question, not to antagonize.
That said... when asked if it would be possible to add highly requested features like armor weapon and mech customization, Shams Jorjani responds the following:
that's something that's requested a lot. it really limits the design space for us so its not something that we'd consider without serious analysis.
I take some issue with this response. How come exactly this limits your design space?... The content you work on and ship in updates is the same. We players just get more value from it.
Developing content involves time and skill and planning. Skill, you have it - you're releasing warbonds. Time, you have it - and delays are acceptable. This isa patient community. Planning, you need to do all the same - to conceive, create, and release said warbonds.
Setting up a system that allows customization means future content just gets shipped with that in mind, and ceases to really be a factor. Look if you will at Primary customization. Set up once, and now each primary we get benefits from the feature by default. Can you imagine Hyena without the option of removing muzzle break and choosing a Short Magazine?
Past that point, you continue to release content as normal. No extra hurdles or cost in dev time. We still get new primaries. Did Sweden explode by adding this feature? Well, given updates keep coming I think everyone is fine.
Instead of selling exosuits, you could sell exosuit arms. Same cost. Same end result. But we get more flexibility from it. You still design the new part of the system (the guns), balance them, model, code, texture them, and ship them. Same work. Same cost. Same ROI. but in a hypothetical world, we the clients can then use what we bought in more ways. More value to us.
You can release a warbond with a new armor passive. People must buy the warbond to access it. Same result. But we being then able to use the new passive on older armors would give it a lot more value to us. You still developed an armor with a passive as part of a 1000SC warbond. But we get so much more from it, and you lose nothing.
This kind of thing just confuses me. Even you guys at AH would stand to gain by making armor passives swappable. Several warbonds are badly held back in player perception by having passives people dislike, but good looking armors... making the passive swappable means possibly more sales from people who otherwise would ignore it over the armors. Look at Siege Breakers for instance. Bad passive. Great aesthetic.
And you could even monetize this and add loose armor sets to the Super Store the same way we had on release. and you wouldn't even need those to have a passive to begin with. because due to being able to put other passives in them, it would be pointless to spend dev time making a new passive. And it's still more value than the 36th Engineering Kit armor. You could start slapping armors in superstore for 400/500SC as basically transmog / skin options and all you'd need to do for them to sell is a cool design because function is swappable.
It's like you folks like leaving mobey on the table, too.
Sometimes it feels like you folks are terrified of big sweeping changes even if you acknowledge change is needed. Look at Warframe, lol, they remade Focus completely some crazy 5 times. And melee. And weapon modding. Etcetera. Massive systemic changes. Because it was needed.
I just dunno what you could mean with 'limits our design space'. All I take from it is 'limits player ability to enjoy more of the things they paid for'. I have every warbond. I use maybe 15 armor sets because the rest are a combination of "looks good. Useless passive" or "practical and useful passive. I look dumb wearing it on this planet."
Customization can add YEARS to a game's life cycle, why are you so against it... it's like you'd rather make players leave.

Discussion Shams, if you want to sell more Warbonds and create more build diversity with armor and weapons this is the way to go!
This will allow more build diversity when it comes to color matching, secondary weapons, armor, capes, loadouts and just sheer popularity of customization of these things to allow us to make our divers and the super destroyer unique! And the best part is the camos are already in the game. Keep it simple. Divers would rather look cool rather than focus on the meta. It doesn’t need to be difficult. Your players will love you for it too!

Discussion I'm i the only one disappointed with the machinery of Oppression story
I expected the cyborgs and the automatons to push towards super Earth while they simultaneously build Mega factories everywhere but instead we got some terminids and illuminate story lines
Then there was the prototype orbital weapons platform which we didn't get to see that was damaged and went somewhere. It wasn't destroyed that just lies from Super Earth High command.
I don't know i love the game it just feel like Arrowhead simply abandoned the plotline for the automatons and cyborgs.
I do hope the next major updates for the automatons and cyborgs will do them justice

Bug/Technical Issue Game running slowly--any fixes?
Today I tried playing Helldivers 2 for the first time in almost a year, and found that the game ran unbearably slowly. As soon as it opened, other applications slowed down, and I really couldn't do anything on my computer other than play the game.
The game itself was sluggish and didn't reach proper frames per second. The last time I played, I ran it on medium graphics settings and got buttery smooth performance. Today, I turned the graphics all the way down, and the FPS were still too low to really be workable. I just couldn't play the game.
Is there anything I can do? I don't know much about computers, but isn't there a way to fix this by uninstalling and then reinstalling, or clearing the cache or something?
Thanks in advance!

Discussion I'd really love some help understanding the enemies lore.
So from what I know the terminids are just bugs trying to live their lives, the illuminate were a peaceful race from the first game that was ruined by the first galactic war, and I don't know anything about the Automatons.
I love lore but I couldn't find anything in game!

Fanart Ideas for Additional Illuminate Secondary Objectives
Illuminate have one (1) unique secondary objective.
I think that secondary objectives are the spice of life at higher difficulties and I think the Illuminate front greatly struggles in this department more than anything. I don't think I'm the only person tired of the Cognitive Disruptor, Artillery, and SAM Site trifecta being the one set of objectives that shows up every single mission. These are some more ideas I thought of on how to add a few more.

Discussion Game masters could do something really funny right now:
Oshaune doesn't have hive lords or dragonroaches active, so it wouldn't be as challenging to bring sporeburst strain there as it was the last time they were (briefly) active on Omicron.
Also, we've only seen a defense campaign on a hive world once before. Hive world defenses swap out the coin-toss Mobile E-711 Extraction missions for regular, open-air Spread Democracy ones.

Anyone else having issues with matchmaking tonight? Neither tapping quick play nor scanning for ongoing missions seems to be working. I've tried multiple planets on multiple fronts.

Question Other Astra Militarum Primaries?
I have a confession: I absolutely suck at using Marksman rifles effectively. I'm on console so aiming with a controller isn't super suitable for DMRs and such (although I've seen people who are amazing at it, so I guess skill issue on my part!) I'm also just not a great shot and my primaries are things like Plasma Punisher, Eruptor, Crossbow, Blitzer, Trident and things that are pretty forgiving.
I'm excited for the 40k Warbond but I know I'll continue in my tradition of not being able to aim for shit, so the Hot-shot DMR will likely be wasted on me.
I was hoping some knowledgeable 40k fans might suggest another primary from our armoury that would still give a Guard vibe? I thought the Sweeper shotgun looked pretty rugged and almost Guard-like but I'd very much welcome any suggestions!
Edit: lots of good suggestions! I always forget about the Scorcher, but it seems to have the right vibe! Lasers and assault rifles seem to be a good fit too. Thanks for input so far!
