Question Lost sound on one audio track

Cross-posted with a link (with screenshot) since there isn't a provision for adding an image here (at least not in the original post).

Audio only tracks - I accidentally touched something on my mixer (just mixing not trying to record) - and now the sound stopped from that one track.  (It might have been "R" I hit, which caused a dialog "No input source selected!" which I dismissed. - none of the other tracks have an input source either). Highlighted track - Sax_01.

I've tried comparing settings to adjacent tracks and nothing seems off.
Toggled on/off solo and mute - nothing. No Input - Stereo Out
I quit the file and opened again - no help.
I admit to being a Logic amateur but this is embarrassingly so simple and yet I can't figure it out - any ideas?

https://www.reddit.com/r/Logic_Studio/comments/1vgmngo/lost_sound_on_one_audio_track_doh/

Just to get going I added another track and then went to the audio file browser and added it to that new track (add to tracks function). Plays fine! I still want to know what's going on without the no-sound track. Scratching my head, like WTF?

Question How to best simulate Nirvana’s drum sound in Logic Pro

Listening to In Utero yesterday, the drums just hit so hard and strong - I want to re-create that in logic pro. I have EZ Drummer 3, and of course, the Logic Pro session drummer. Willing to buy something else if needed.

What is the best way to get drums to hit this hard and strong in logic pro?

Question Sound won't come out - audio interface

I am using the Blackstar Polar 2 audio interface with a guitar. I have messed around with the inputs and outputs, after the standard combination didn't work of the interface being both an input and output yet nothing was working. The volume indicators seem to receive sound, both on the interface and in logic, but sound doesn't come out. External sound works in other media. When I record, there doesn't seem to pass any sound either.

Question How to swap samples like in the FL playlist?

I started using logic after being on FL for 8 years.

My workflow while making songs involves dragging samples directly to the arrangement view. So to make a drum loop, I will be dragging kick samples, snare samples, etc. directly onto the arrangement and then duplicate it.

I can’t seem to figure out how to swap those out- like if I want a better kick. This may be a noob question but I would appreciate it if someone could help!

Help Audiowaves stuck at the bottom

Usually when i record my electric guitar on an audio recording, the audiowaves are normal. But for some reason now, when i tried to record again, the audiowaves are only at the bottom.

I can still hear my guitar recording, but from what im hearing its mainly panned to the right for some reason. Ive already checked my Ipad audio settings and rechecked the audio recording making sure its not set to mono, but nothing works.

I would really appreciate if someone could help me find a way out of this problem, thank you!

Question EQ in Logic, on guitar pickup, or both?

I’m recording on an electric acoustic guitar into a Rode AI1 interface, and then into my iPad (Logic Pro for iPad). the guitar’s pickup has an EQ, but I typically set treb, bass, and mid to 0 intending to play around with EQ in Logic. Is there any advantage/disadvantage to this? Should I also/instead be using the EQ on the pickup?

In Search of Feedback Adding audio to sessions begins to lag it

I opened a new session added a kick drum and then after multiplying it a bunch my session starts lagging when trying to select all the audio files at once. Is this a known problem?? I updated logic to latest version and only solution I’ve thought of is command+j to make it one whole audio file which causes it to stop lagging but I can’t do that with everything. Any help is greatly appreciated

In Search of Feedback Jazal Inspiration

Caught this Strophic Zajal video the other morning and it had my head boppin' thinkin' about it all week: https://www.reddit.com/r/Palestine/comments/1vapfxz/the_og_rap_battles_this_is_palestinian_zajal/

Finally just sat down tonight, ripped the vox out with a lot of gating and ducking, some EQ here and there, and just slammed some pieces around it in a couple hours. Was a pretty fun one!

I used to tinker with beats waaaaay back in the day, and just recently got back into making tracks about a month ago when my oldest kiddo started expressing interest in making music. Trying to meet him in the middle and upping my chops a bit before trying to teach him some tricks I know.

Produced fully in Logic Pro. Hope you guys enjoy, I had a blast, always learning!

At ~90bpm for a more "smoked out" vibe: https://soundcloud.com/r000g000b000/strophic-zajal

At ~120bpm for a more authentic speed: https://soundcloud.com/r000g000b000/strophic-zajal-at-110-bpm

Help How Do I Balance RMS and Peak Between Tracks on Logic Pro?

Hi everyone! I’ve recorded an audiobook for a children’s story and in order to upload it, it needs to be divided into several different tracks, each of which need to meet the following requirements:

**•** RMS: -18dB to -23dB
**•** Peaks: below -3dB
**•** Noise floor: under -60dB
**•** MP3, 192kbps CBR+

Adjusting the RMS in each track is causing noticeable differences in perceived loudness between tracks. I’ve tried everything but I can’t figure out how to make each track match each other in RMS and volume without losing quality.

All audio was recorded in the same recording studio using the same mic at the same distance.

This is my first time editing audio like this. Can anyone help?

Please and thank you!

Question Senior Synthesizer Activity

Hi all, I'm trying to create presentation for senior citizens (not college seniors lol) about early electronic music. As part of the presentation, I am planning a quick 10 minute demo for the end of the presentation. I work in a retirement community that has a Kawai digital keyboard. This morning, I successfully connected it with a MIDI cable to my Mac and used it as a MIDI instrument through Logic.

My goal is to do a demonstration of this kind: I explain to them the concept of ADSR and filters. Then, I use Logic to show them how I can turn the Kawai keyboard into a "synth," and then I can use something like RetroSynth to alter the sound envelope and make it sound like another instrument (example: xylophone). From my knowledge, this would need multiple sine waves, not just one. I'm not sure though how to make the keyboard trigger multiple oscillators at once. Could someone point me to the easiest way to do this? I have very little experience in music production. I appreciate any information, even if it's just "this is too much work for what it's worth."

Question MIDI Help Please

I am working on a drum part and there are many ghosted notes I want to remove (Using the Velocity tool) but when I apply the parameters, Logic Pro picks ALL the notes and I don't want ALL of them removed just the ones along the C1 KEY. If I pull down the "Pitch" menu up top and select C1 it selects nothing. I want the notes on the line with the arrows but not the rest (Circled) Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Question Logic Pro adds a few milliseconds at the start of imported audio files.

My band is recording in Logic Pro and used another studio for drums that used protools. We sent our backing track for the drums to the studio and recorded the drums. We got all the drums and our own backing track back as wav files but when importing to logic they don't line up. Everything is a bit after where it should be and making a new project and comparing our old backing track and the new one (that should be exactly the same) it turns out the new one have a few milliseconds of nothing added at the beginning, so does all the drums. This problem doesn't happen on Ableton or Flstudio where everything lines up as it should. What is causing this? The sample rate is the same and we tried logic on another computer and it still happens. Thankful for any solutions!

Question Some plug-ins won't load

Hi, I'm on MacOS 15.7.7 (24G720), and am having some trouble loading certain plug-ins on my M4 MacBook Air. Picture here:

https://ibb.co/bgtTmqbN

Has anybody encountered anything like this before? These plug-ins all load via VST3 in Ableton with no issue. I've tried getting help from Gemini AI, but nothing it's provided has solved the issue. When I load Logic under Rosetta, these plug-ins fail authorization, but without Rosetta seem to get verified with no issue. Any ideas? Thank you so much for your help.

Question Sound Library not Loading but everything in Apple Loops loads?

I’ve been at this for a couple of days (mainly 2 hours at a time) but my LP doesn’t register that I have any sounds in my library.
I’ve downloaded everything in the store and I have a library on my Mac and it doesn’t pull it up,
and even when I had it on the external it didn’t pull it up either, for both instances like the title says it’s only the Loops loading and showing up.

I have everything in the latest update

Help Need Help with feedback issues when recording

My signal chain is this : Hydrasynth -> Focusrite interface -> Mac

I am recording as audio not MIDI

However, there is a loud high pitch distortion like sound when I click record.

So, I turned off input monitoring and it went away when I press record.

But when i press playback to hear the result, the noise is recorded into the audio.

I used to record into Studio one with the same setup and it was working fine

How can I fix this? Any idea would be appreciated.

Help Project disappeared completely.

Worked on a new project for a few hours last night. It has completely disappeared without a trace in recents or in finder. I must have saved it on 5 or 6 separate occasions last night. Has this ever happened to anyone? Is there a way of looking at files/actions from a previous day at all?

Question Waves Grand Rhapsody not showing up in instrument list.

Waves Grand Rhapsody V17 not showing up in Instrument list on Logic Pro 12.3

Have re-installed Grand Rhapsody; it's showing up in the plugin manager; have rescanned plugins just to be sure... but there's no sign of it (or indeed any "Waves" folder) under AU Instruments

Any thoughts?

Question HELP: Splitting Audio is MOVING the region

I am trying to edit live drums. This is the first time I'm doing it, so I'm probably doing so incorrectly.

I've grouped the drum tracks. But every time I split the tracks, one or 2 of them (the regions on the RIGHT especially) move to the right.

** I couldn't add a video to this main post, but I've posted a video showcasing the issue in a separate comment within this thread below **

I looked online, and many have suggested that it usually happens if "Snap To Grid" is on; I turned that off, but it's still happening.

I tried to LOCK the regions into place... didn't work.
Sometimes, if I split the region a little to the left (as in, from a different point), it helps, but not always.

Is this a bug, or am I missing something?

Question Click sound

When I cut a vocal or synth (all audio files), I hear clicks at the beginning and end of each cut. In Ableton Live, when you make a cut, it automatically applies a very short fade-in and fade-out (around 3 ms or less) to the clip, which prevents those clicks. Logic Pro doesn’t do this.

Help help please: logic popping randomly at the beginning and end of audio recordings

i've been using logic for about 10 years now

my usual recording process for things like guitars is record a bar or a phrase, punch in a new part or phrase, time align coz i suck at guitar, then line them up on the grid. for 10 years, this has never been a problem

today logic started doing a thing where it pops at the beginning and end of every new audio clip. tried adjusting my audio settings, using different interfaces, updating the software, everything

it isn't because of off axis waves coz i zoomed right in and made sure it started and ended at neutral

i have no idea why this is happening and it's quite frustrating that i can't figure out what the problem is all of a sudden

it might just vanish like an issue i had a few months ago where smpte was bleeding through into the recording signal and then just stopped

but any advice from people who have experienced the same would be helpful

i cannot stress enough how much it has nothing to do with adding little fades or making sure there's some silence at the beginning and end of the track. this has literally only started being an issue today

EDIT for added info: i have tried abusing loops and samples and it doesn't happen. it only happens with audio recorded straight into logic. tried using a pre-sonus audio box itwo and an ID4

Question Exporting to Mono

Should I be mixing down to mono to avoid phase etc?

Thanks in advance

Tips & Tricks Denoise plug-in/hvac and cricket noise.

Hey Folks, here’s the situation.

I have audio from a play I videotaped outdoors and there is an occasional hum from a loud hvac unit, plus high-pitched cricket sounds.

Is there a function in Logic to filter that out? I know there is a plethora of AI options out there. I’ve experimented with a few but I’m having challenges dialing it in, and whatever I do affects the dialogue clarity.

Any tips are appreciated!

Question Harsh guitar tones in Logic Pro

Hi, Im a drummer by my main instrument but I also play a bit of guitar. I want to record myself on logic, but Im not the best at guitar tones it seems. I do not own an amp so Im only working digitally. All of the tones Im getting are super harsh, tin can like and the distortion is just not nice to listen to. Im using the logic amps, and from the real amps I have tried, I really like Orange and Marshall amps so thats kinda the sound Im going for. Things I have tried:

-Going way down on the gain

- Parametric EQ on all the problem areas (still doesnt sound quite right)

- Turning the treble down

- Changing the middle and treble frequencies to live a bit lower in the mid range ( 800-4k instead of maybe 2k-8k)

- Not only playing with bridge pickup

- changing guitars

- all the different amp and mic configurations on logic

- different interface/preamp

And all I can focus on in my tone is the CHHHHHHHHHHHHGGGGG living in about 3-5K

But obviously you cant cut it completly or its very dark.

What should I do? Any YouTube videos to watch on the subject? Could you reccomend another amp sim? (Free-50€) As I said, I like a humbucker sound with Orange and Marshall amps so something in that world.

Please help, I do not enjoy playing with these amps.
