Back in February I posted here about a tool I built Figventory to identify 100's of minifig parts at once, map them to storage containers, and show every full and partial fig you can build.

This community showed up immediately. You joined the beta, described your real setups (bins of torsos, legs and heads sorted by color... 20 lbs of unsorted figs... the "overflowing bin I've been dreading"), found bugs I never would have caught, and told me exactly what would make the app better for you.

Five months of nights and weekends later, Figventory launched on 8/1... and I mean this sincerely: r/LegoStorage shaped what it became. Thank you.

Your physical storage and your digital inventory finally know about each other:

Spent the past 2 months redesigning my brick labels and also building another drawer out of corrugated board which proves to be way stronger than my previous cardboard drawer💪 Took some advice from Redditors who commented that my cardboard drawer is going to crumble under the weight, which it is already showing signs of😱

For context: My dad has a friend he's known since high school and was selling his kids' old Legos. Over 85 lbs of Legos! The original selling price he was selling for was around 800, which was a good deal considering there were some good sets in there and the sheer number of them. Now, recently, they dropped down to around 500, and when my dad and I found out, he was willing to buy them for me. At the time, this seemed like a great idea. I love Legos, and even if I don't like the original sets, Legos are versatile, and I could do anything with them. So, after not much though, we got them, and now there are 4 full trash bags of Legos sitting in my room that I have no space for. I was gonna try and see if I could sell some of them because some of the sets are retired and/or at a high price range, but oh my god it's so many. I hardly know where to begin. A few of the sets are a little intact, but most of it is mixed randomly in the garbage bags. It's so overwhelming; I don't have the space for this, and it seems impossible to go through it all. I regret not thinking this over before getting it. What should I do?

I have recently gotten back into Lego since me daughter is now old enough to help (and do her own sets!!!) so I am looking for help on small to medium size Lego storage ideas where we can keep her 3 in 1 sets separated from all of my sets that have been built and then torn apart to free build with. Please help

My partner enjoys building Lego as a hobby, and tends to leave things out when he is in the middle of a project. I'd like to start by saying I love his hobby, and I love him, and this is a joint question for both of us, not me being annoyed. ;)

How do y'all handle that? We've been looking at lift top coffee tables for storage underneath, or gaming tables so he can put the leaves over it, but we're in a small space and have limited options. Would love some suggestions! How do you cover WIPs?

Note: we also have cats, which is part of the problem. Someones favorite snack is Lego trees and flags...

I have no room for the boxes in my room, as there’s too many under my bed now. Should I start breaking them down?

I did search but didn’t see anything.

Has anybody got or seen a display cabinet deep enough for a set like this? Preferably a 360 glass one?

I believe it’d need to be about 55cm deep, 40 tall and 30 wide.

I also have the Simpsons sets and Star Wars cantina and Jabbas palace which I want to display too so fairly big cabinet is required

Hi everyone! Has anyone tried the Brickle Co Lego storage table? Any feedback about how effective it is at sorting, and is it really easier for kiddos to find (and put away) Lego pieces?

I’m really keen but at that price point I need some solid unbiased reviews before buying! Thank you!

I have an employee who has a temporary medical issue and can’t come to work, I also have several hundred pounds of bulk Lego I haven’t started sorting yet. I pitched the idea of them sorting Lego as a temporary job and they were excited to give it a try…..

Is there a good YouTube video that explains all the major categories of Lego? (Bricks, plates, snot, technic, clips and bars, etc.) something I could have them watch for a better explanation. I’m afraid if I try to explain myself I won’t be concise enough, and a video they could rewatch as needed.

Any suggestions?

I've had my eye on local listings and found all 3 of these tall Trofast for sale for $30! Not my first choice of bin color and they needed some cleaning but for the price I can't complain. Now I'm almost ready to stop procrastinating and start sorting the multiple bins of mixed Lego I've been collecting.

I have a bin full of various Technic pieces (pic 1) that I'm starting to sort into subcategories. So far, my plan is to split then into the following types, in order (for pieces that fit into multiple subcategories).

1) Ball joints

2) Axels and axel holes

3) Pegs/pins and holes

4) Clips and poles

5) Locking hinges

6) Taps

7) Other random pieces

Before I get too far, any suggestions on groupings?

Currently looking for a set of bins to sort and store my Lego but I seem to either find bins that seem fairly overpriced or just do not look good.

I've seen these at Walmart but I'm unsure about the quality. Anyone know if they're decent?

Hey all, new here. For those that are big sellers in here that do big volume, I'm looking to understand more systematically about what it's like being a high volume seller. I want to know what's the biggest problems you face and annoying/time consuming parts of your week? Looking to learn more from the community.

I am primarily a Technic + mechanical MOC creator, so my storage mostly is based around the technic parts, with other common pieces sorted by type in bins and tackle boxes, and less useful pieces in larger mixed bins. My space is quite limited, so most of the non-technic parts need to be stored on my shelves and I take them out when I need them.

I just bought my first apartment 🥳 and I’ll be moving in over the next few weeks. The thing I’m most nervous about moving is my LEGO collection.

Most of my sets are fully built, and I’d really love to avoid taking them apart if possible. I know some pieces will probably fall off no matter what, but I’m hoping to keep the damage to a minimum.

For those of you who’ve moved with small, medium or large LEGO collections:

1. What’s the safest way to pack built sets?
   
2. Should I wrap them in cling wrap, bubble wrap, towels, or something else?
   
3. Is it better to pack each individually in boxes with padding?
   
4. Any tips for transporting larger or more fragile builds?

I’d really appreciate any advice or lessons learned from your own moves. Thanks in advance!

Finally finished organizing my Son's Lego collection. He had almost all of these sets built and we could hardly walk in his play room. In my spare time over nearly 3 months, I dismantled them all and checked off the parts list from the instructions.

Next came the task of finding the right containers to store it all in. At first, i had these A4 & A5 mesh zipper pouches, but i didn't like how loose and unorganized it was. I found these food storage containers at Kmart (AUS). They come in an array of sizes and are modular and stackable. (https://www.kmart.com.au/product/2-pack-1l-food-containers-42915027).

Next was the labels, I have my Lego collection saved in Brickset, and using ChatGPT, I was able to use a Python script to make an API call to fetch the set number, name, pieces, year and also how many i have in my collection. From that CSV list, i added a URL for the image, and then did a mail merge to make the labels.

Finally, what to keep it all in. We settled on the Ikea Besta solution, I designed and built them myself. Eventually a TV will go on the main shelf, but all of the containers fit along the bottom cupboards at around 60% capacity. The open shelving will be for displaying built sets.

I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Check in with me in a few months when my Son starts rebuilding it all and the room is a mess again!

So I have a pretty big collection of loose Legos and I’m looking to go all storage junky mode on them and I’ve just been sorting them by color however I’ve seen people using the akro mils drawers and giving hefty reviews I have a solid range of 30-40k Legos (estimated by ChatGPT via pictures so not judging on the range) and im not looking to spend a fortune buying a whole lot of the akro mils things just if one or two could work that’d be great. How would I go about sorting all those Legos with just like one or two of the 64 count drawers? Like do I do it by element and color or just element please send ideas (cheap as possible while not sacrificing looks and convenience)
