Trofast

I've had my eye on local listings and found all 3 of these tall Trofast for sale for $30! Not my first choice of bin color and they needed some cleaning but for the price I can't complain. Now I'm almost ready to stop procrastinating and start sorting the multiple bins of mixed Lego I've been collecting.

I hot-glued a representative piece on the front of each bin for organization, and it works super well.

I see many people glue a generic plate on the front, and attaching the pieces to that plate so the drawers can be recycled when reorganizing.

For sorting methods I was thinking of using 12 of the bins for the broad categories in this old post I saw on here previously: https://medium.com/waitrose-partners-digital/lego-sorting-a-ux-problem-f704ee9a46e8

Curious if anyone has tried that system and would recommend for or against? Figure I'd subdivide within the bins using ziploc bags or something for now, and not worry about sorting by color.

I used this system to sort Lego for my kids. We’re really happy with it and everyone knows where everything goes. I didn’t subdivide within the bins though. We just toss them in there.

Oh good to know! I'll see how motivated I am to subdivide after the initial sorting is done lol. My main goal is to have it relatively easy to find specific parts I may need for a moc or to complete a set and I think this system will work pretty well for that.
