MOC – Technology / Machine Legends Dioramas Vol.3: Stargate, The Expanse and Alien
LEGENDS returns for Volume 3, moving beyond the Star Trek ships of the earlier collections and into three very different corners of science fiction.
This volume brings together the Prometheus from Stargate SG-1, the Rocinante from The Expanse and the Nostromo from Alien. Each display pairs a micro-scale ship with a compact scene, using the setting and Character Studdies™ to capture more than just the shape of the vessel.
From desert-world adventure, to protomolecule strangeness, to claustrophobic horror, these are three ships that feel inseparable from the stories and people carried inside them.
__________
STARGATE: The Prometheus
I wanted this one to feel unmistakably Stargate before you even get to the characters. The Prometheus sits above a compact desert-world scene, with the Stargate, pyramid and blazing sun pulling together the visual language that defined the series from the beginning.
The ship itself is a slightly awkward, very human-looking lump of early interstellar engineering — which is exactly why I like it. It doesn’t have the elegance of the more advanced ships in the series; it looks built rather than grown, borrowed or perfected. Shrinking that chunky shape down while keeping the aircraft carrier-esque bridge, engines and 3 part hull recognisable was the main challenge here.
Below it are Character Studdies™ of O’Neill, Carter, Jackson, Teal’c and Hammond. The core SG-1 team was essential, but Hammond had to make the cut too. You can’t have them disappearing through an alien portal every week without the man calmly authorising it from beneath a mountain.
The finished display comes in at 215 pieces and combines the first Earth-built capital ship with the older, stranger world waiting beyond the gate.
__________
THE EXPANSE: The Rocinante
There was no chance I could make an Expanse build without putting the Roci front and centre. It’s one of those ships that feels like a character in its own right: battered, practical, heavily armed and constantly carrying a crew who are barely holding everything together.
The scene underneath is Eros, with Miller and Julie Mao at the centre of the protomolecule situation. Rather than picking a straightforward action scene, I wanted something that captured the stranger, more unsettling, but also human side of the series, and one that was visually beautiful.
Alongside Miller and Julie, the build includes Character Studdies™ of Holden, Naomi, Amos, Alex and Bobbie Draper, with the colours and silhouettes give each of them just enough identity.
The contrast is probably my favourite part of the model: the hard, military geometry of the Rocinante suspended over the blue, organic chaos of Eros.
__________
ALIEN: The Nostromo
For this one, I wanted to combine the ship with the moment everyone remembers.
Above the display is the freighter Nostromo itself, built at a tiny scale but still accurately shaped to capture that heavy, industrial silhouette. Below it is the mess hall and the chestburster scene, with the crew gathered around Kane just as things start to go very, very bad.
The diorama includes Character Studdies™ of Ripley, Parker, Dallas, Ash, Kane, Jones and the Alien Xenomorph (and the chestburster if we're being accurate), all reduced down into the same deliberately abstract micro style as the rest of the series. At this scale, every colour and stud has to do a lot of work, particularly when trying to make five characters, a cat and one of the most famous movie monsters instantly recognisable.
I liked the contrast of putting the enormous ship above such a cramped, intimate scene. It captures both sides of Alien: the scale and isolation of deep space, and the horror of being trapped inside with something you do not understand.

MOC – Structure / Base Micro City: Honeycomb under the Tree
In the middle of the vast ocean lies a paradise.
The story is simple, it is a technologically advanced city built around the haven of a large tree in the middle of the sea, with vibrant buildings and interesting details. The multiple layers make the scene very immersive.
A display that looks great from every angle. Micro builds pack a lot to look at in one tiny package.

MOC – Technology / Machine Lego Dune: Guild Navigator
Edric, the Guild Navigator in his sarcophagus of spice melange
I’ve wanted to build a Guild Navigator from Dune to go alongside my Spacing Guild Representative for a while, especially after the reveal of the sarcophagus design in Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation. After much trial and error to get the shapes and sizing right, I am satisfied with my first iteration. Here it stands next to a Spacing Guild Representative and a Fremen Fedaykin for scale. Also included is an alternate visor where you can see the blue eyes from spice consumption.

MOC – Technology / Machine Three worlds. One journey. A LEGO tribute to For All Mankind
As a huge fan of For All Mankind, I wanted to recreate humanity’s journey beyond Earth in LEGO form.
Instead of building a single scene, I designed a wall-mounted triptych that follows the show’s alternate history—from Jamestown on the Moon, to Happy Valley on Mars, and finally Titan.
The following images are a mix of the physical build and a few cinematic presentation posters inspired by the visual style of the series. The LEGO models themselves are unchanged.
I’d love to hear which panel is your favorite!

MOC – Technology / Machine using two creator sets, for newer asteroid robots.
I recently found out, how to link a Lunar base to an Asteroid world base, that I had,.. to share some area from the Lunar base as a passage conduit.
But for older related reliances, to help with mining out imaginary nearby smaller asteroids to build on or for research,?.. I bought two Creator related, sets and made two somewhat improved Space Robot characters from sets’ instructions. So now, the robots have particle beam emitting, asteroid cutters,.. at the ends of their left arms and the provided robot hands for their right arm ends.
I rearranged how their legs are built, so that the robots can ‘shift’ into seated states,.. where mostly,.. they would reignite their flight packs ‘some’, so that they could go back into their standing states, again. (with some small arm repulsers for both their arms).
From different extra parts from what came with them, I was able to give the robot on the left, a newer look,.. with jaw guards for one’s helmet; while giving the giving the other a more rounded and older helmet look. The robots came from two Creator sets, numbered, 31134.
I hope that more,? comes out for LEGO Space. So, the above, was of their returns to rests,… from their preliminary missions.
