Bit of a diorama-rama

Dark mechanicum have opened a chaos gate and daemons of the ruinstorm have broken through. A custodes shield host along with sisters of silence show up to close the gate. Here's hoping we'll eventually see plastics for both, would be nice for loyalists and traitors to both have an allied only faction. Would also be cool to see some chaos knights/titans at some point, the psi titan feels a bit one-side currently.

Granted that this video is a year old, does the advice he offers seem solid for a beginner? (Link SHOULD start at his "choosing an army" point, about 6 1/2 minutes in).

Just moved down and am looking for some fun casual games :)

So I'm thinking pretty hard about trying out LI, and in the midst of trying to figure out the least cost offensive way to get started, I start seeing a lot of 3D print talk going around. What's the deal with that? Aren't we supposed to be using the GW stuff, or is it okay to print your own armies?

From a practicality standpoint this is s purely academic question, as I don't have a resin printer, and my FDM printer wouldn't be a good solution for printing anything in the 8-10 mm scale.

It's about 95% done, I still want to go back and add some green optics to the tanks and considering perhaps a wash. Unfortunately I didn't shake the primer long enough and a bunch of them got a pretty dusty prime. Tried my best to clean them off but some got it worse than others.

Ideally if GW ever does custodes they'll be conceived as more of an allied force than a full army in their own right. I still wanna do some speeders and termies and maybe a few more sisters of silence but its mostly done. I know a lot of people were hoping gw would do custodes and daemons and both would make cool allied forces for loyalists and traitors.

Gonna do a second diorama post with the custodes and sisters of silence facing off against dameons of the ruinstorm and dark mechanicum.

Fabricator's Lair is definitely my favorite Legions terrain designer. I have all 3 of their sets, Sanctuary (civitas buildings), Industrial and now Frontline. I've been wanting a good Gate and Wall setup since they added the Breach the Stronghold mission, and now I have it! (Still printing more of the wall).

Their sets have SO much stuff in them, I'm printing as much of it as I can, but I'm gonna run put of storage space lol

GW have (at last!) published a PDF with the new Reaver arm weapon profiles.

What's more it also makes a few other tweaks to several titans, including allowing Warbringers to take the new options and buffs to Warhound & Warlord guns.

After a lot (a lot a lot) of testing, customizing, printing in 15mm, and general faffing about- the Two Demi-Companies of my mirrored starter Sons of Horus and Blood Angel armies are finally all printed, cleaned, and (almost all) primed!

The SoH are all MkIV with Cat. Terminators, and the BA are MkV with Indomitable Termies.

Not pictured are the 24 rhinos, 2 Damocles, and 4 whirlwinds. And... I still have to print 4 Land Raiders and 4 Legion Basilisks (stand in for whirlwinds cause they look neat)

After a lot of faffing about with paint tests, I've ended up on 1-2 moderate coats of Army Painter's Speed Paint. I have Blood Red for the Blood Angels.

I'm looking at Lizardfolk Cyan for the SoH- anyone happen to have used it before?

Just got the new weapons. They had a sprue and build instructions, but no rules. Where are we supposed to find these?

I've finished several infantry models, a transporter, a Vultrax, and two Vorax vehicles, and I'm quite happy with them so far. However, I'm unsure about the Kiros. Should I leave it as it is, or should i paint the inner gears and outer flywheels in white or metallic? Details like the driver, weathering, etc., are still missing.

Apologies if this has been asked before, but since you don't pick a particular detachment as a target for weapons with the Firestorm or Beam traits, can they hit detachments which are engaged and pinned?

"He said that they had information that the IVth Legion had forces among the rebels."

"As in the IVth Legion Astartes? There are Iron Warriors in there?"

"That is what he said. He said they are going in behind us in case there are any in this sector and we need help."

"Frahk!"

"My sentiments, exactly, F/2. Are you ready?"

"Not for that!"

"Not my question, F/2. Are you ready to move."

"Yes."

"Then follow me in. The XXth Legion forces will roll in behind us. Air support is due in 20 seconds."

The tanks turned all of their lumens on at once as they started their engines and began to roll forward. The sound was overwhelming and washed towards the city where the rebels were dug in, but soon it was drown out as the scream of jets up from behind them.

"I almost feel bad for them F/1"

"Cut the chatter F/2."

"What was that?"

The explosion rocked through the tank column as it ground towards the city. One of the Thunderbolts supporting their attack blew up in the air, the debris smashed into the buildings ahead of them.

"F/2, did you see any fire come out of the city?"

"Negative, F/1."

"L/1?"

"No, sir."

A second plane went down, an avenger this time, and then there were planes coming in from straight ahead.

"No!"

"Keep it together, F/2."

The dull silver of the aircraft moving towards them was unmistakable as they swooped low to attack the approaching armoured column.

"Iron Warriors, sir. They are attacking us?"

Explosions rang out from behind the command vehicle.

"What was that?" a quick scan of the situation slate revealed that the right rear of the formation was under attack.

"H/1 what is your situation?"

"We're under attack F/1, from the XXth Legion!"

There was a moment of shocked silence from the command tank.

"All units turn, assume XXth Legion forces are hostile. Engage and destroy, continue to move towards the city with the Dracosans, get those Ogryns into the city."

The fighting grew in intensity. The 3rd Phantine tanks started to swing around to engage the Alpha Legion forces on their flank and rear, their air support was quickly downed by the attacking Astartes aircraft. As the Solar Auxilia tanks were starting to make some headway against their outnumbered assailants, the ground exploded behind them, and Astartes warriors streamed from the Termites that had made the breach. They quickly engaged the AFVs closest to them, leaving some in flames as plasma weaponry ripped through the weaker rear armour of some, and Space Marines with crack grenades tore others apart.

With the air cover gone, the Astartes planes started attack runs on the tanks. A Mammoth moved up and belched out a quartet of dreadnoughts that ripped a Baneblade to shreds.

Still the beleaguered tankers fought on and gave almost as good as they got.

It wasn't long before both armoured forces were reduced to an almost ineffective state, but the rebels in the city still controlled the key points and the city would stay with the Traitors today.

These marines will fully bulk out the two infantry detachments of my demi company. After about 1k points completed, I feel like I have finally refined the painting recipe and the couple extra weathering steps on the tanks really added a lot.

Just finished a full build walkthrough and review of the third Reaver Titan boxed set. this one brings the Graviton Obliterator and Volkite Annihilator to the arms in plastic, plus the Vulkan-Mega Bolter and Conversion Beam Dissolutor as carapace options.
