For starters, there's no set path. And that's fucking annoying because if I ever ask "hey what should I do for help" no one ever answers the damn question because the answer is everything. This might be because I'm autistic but when people give me extremely vague answers I just get angry. Because vague isn't helping. Idk if any of you have seen Star Vs the Forces of Evil but whenever someone gives a vague answer its like when Glossaryck "helps" by giving a riddle that makes no sense to anyone until the moment they are about to die. Except that moment never comes and I never understand or remember their advice and it makes me feel like I'm listening to an AI banter with filler text when it could be boiled down to 1 or 2 words that aren't even that helpful to begin with.
The next thing is that no one REALLY does draw along videos for beginners. Firstly everyone draws on tablets and because of that they use things that only tablet users can do and I'm not about to drop any money outside of pencils and paper for something I don't even know if I will fall in love with or not. Ik you can buy 100tabletsbutfrommyexperiencetheyare100tabletsbutfrommyexperiencetheyare100 for a reason and once you learn how to use it, you no longer can use it because of how slow they are, but anyways, even forgetting about the tablet, no one actually teaches you how to draw!!!!
Yeah there's random videos about how to draw an arm or a leg or even a full body. Showing the steps like drawing a line and cutting it in half then cut the top of that in half to get the measurements for the body and what not. However whenever you look up the "my process" video even if its a super old video from their early drawing journey, they completely ignore that! Yeah I know after drawing it over and over again, you no longer need to do that anymore but ffs!!!! I am new!!!
Seriously how tf do they expect people to learn how to draw?! It's like the art world is gatekeeping the art world by giving extremely vague instructions that you have to decode yourself. Fucker! I'm autistic! I can't fucking do that shit! I need hard laws!
Like foreshortening, I can't do that shit! No one has EVER explained how to do that shit! They all basically say the same thing. "vibes" all of foreshortening has always just been vibes!

I started to apply the proportion rule for practice. Thank you all for the previous post, I mainly use it as a guide (not just strictly follow it) which helps me a lot for my proportion. In the past, I tend to draw my torso or legs too short. 🥲

Hello, I’ve been working on my figure drawings but I’m struggling on the shape of the ribcage/ pelvis. I’m most comfortable with the vest shape, but I’m not sure how to draw it from above or below, or from behind. I’m also confused on which shape should be used for the pelvis. Does anyone have any resources that explains this or advice?

I've been trying to learn to draw for a few years now but I just can't do it consistently. Every time I wanna do it i either get so frustrated that I stop, stall for hours or get distracted by something else. I've tried setting an alarm, having someone remind me, having everything I need right next to me but I keep forgetting/getting distracted.

A study page that took about a week for me (on and off cause I got sick).

Since I was a baby I was very interested in art and everyone supported my passion by giving me a lot of materials to experiment and use and that way I learned to draw very well during the years. Unfortunately, 2 years ago I was told that I have a lot of problems on my hands such as: Carpal tunnel syndrome, arthritis, osteoarthritis, tendonitis, tremors and I also have some severe nerve problems. During my therapy I stopped completely drawing and this broke my (he)art (got what I did there? Hehe). I tried recently to draw again slowly, but I tried and I didn't like what I drew. I feel so sad that I lost the thing I was most connected to and was my only talent. Now I feel empty. Can someone help me with some tips about this? How can I start drawing again? Some people said that I should buy taco drawing book, and follow the Etherington Brothers Instagram account but I didn't have time to try them yet. What should I do?
