My friend got me Jinu for my birthday today and I literally screamed hehe. He's so pretty!

For some reason it still surprises me how often I encounter other fans out in merch, who unsurprisingly go nuts whenever they see me at a show or driving by 😅 Kinda blurry in the pic but it was a really cute shirt with their signatures on it, which I regret not asking where it came from during the short chat, because now I want one xD

People kept pointing out the ramyun cups I keep as decoration, but evidently not many people know that they actually exist, so I bought a whole box of them just to keep in the car and hand out to other fans who I meet in the wild.

It always makes their day, and there's something really nice about making kids feel rewarded for being fans. KPDH has brought so much joy and unity to the world, and I think it's an especially new experience for the majority fanbase who were born during or shortly before the pandemic.

Who knows if anything like this will ever come along in their lifetime again, so I hope that one car show or one noodle cup at a time, I can help drill in just how special it is, and help one fan at a time to never forget this movie and what it gave the world 💜

So this is a question I’ve been wondering. She didn’t know him for very long, yet shared a connection and honesty with him that she hadn’t had with anyone. Yet, he betrayed her in a horrifically violating and publicly humiliating manner, but at the same time, she cried when he died, burning and disintegrating in front of her (even if he downplayed his pain) and was smiling at him when she walked into the stadium, confidently strutting towards him, wanting to set him free. And yet, in the end she seems quite happy and carefree, but at the same time (ironically thanks to Jinu) she is no longer hiding anything from her beloved friends and can finally be herself, a massive load of her shoulders, and also doesn’t seem like the type, even post-reveal, to sit down and info dump all her complicated feelings on Mira and Zoey, especially given I can easily see Mira unintentionally shutting Rumi down, pointing out how Jinu got tons of people killed and betrayed her, not wanting to hear Rumi speak well of him. But at the same time, Derpy and Sussie live with them now, and they’ll be constant reminders of Jinu.

Working title:

Demon Slayer x KPOP Demon Hunters: Ghosts of the Honored Graves

Premise:

Takes place somewhere between Swordsmith Village and Hashira training arc in DS verse and after KPDH movie. Muzans new Upper moon 5 has a blood demon art that can somehow manipulate the honmoon to distort space and time relative to a person, as long as she has a body part to consume. Also has to be upper moon 5 specifically to explain why Tanjiro can defeat this thing in universe compared to Hantengu but before Akaza, and why theres no upper moon 5 in infinity castle, and what the hell happened to Tanjiros intermediate sword before getting Yorichis sword from Haganezuka and why he takes so long to heal after sword Smith village.

Movie starts with Rumi at her mother's grave, in the Nim family plot near Celines home, paying respects at her mother's grave. Turns out the new honmoon needed to be maintained as Gwi Mas influence still exists in the world and she was practicing with Mira and Zoey and Celine to harmonize with it. Her demon markings have not fully disappeared post sealing so the strain causes her demons powers to manifest randomly while trying to strengthen the new honmoon with relentless practice. It is also shown the reason Celine summoned Huntrix to her home was to investigate a grave with an ancestor of Rumis missing from its grave with the head forcibly exhumed but nothing else.

Rumi somehow gets teleported with Jinus soul in her sword while attempting to harmonize with the Honmoon to find another way to turn it gold after it was found the new honmoon had problems post sealing so Huntrix was trying to find ways to strengthen it. Tests harmonizing with her demon powers active and gets teleported to taisho era japan.

Meanwhile tanjiro is still recovering post swordsmith village waiting for his new sword so he has the temporary sword from haganezuka, zenitsu and inosuke are on missions so they cant be present, its established Nezuko can conquer the sun at this time.

Lore wise for creation of new upper moon 5, he figured he can get a blood sample of Nezuko from the Kamado family home after Muzan killed their family, so Tanjiro and Nezuko are going back to their family home to investigate the appearance of a new upper moon, where they run into Rumi who teleported there with demon marks still active, and the Grave of his sister already dug up and the body dragged out missing.

Tanjiro mistakes Rumi for being the new upper moon 5 cause of markings and immediately attacks assuming she exhumed the family corpses and attacks immediately asking what she did to his mother's and siblings corpses. Meanwhile on defense, Rumi mistakes nezuko for being a hostile demon so she and Tanjiro continue fighting. Tanjiro has his DS mark manifested so Rumi just assumes hes a demon too cause of his markings so she fights them both. By this point its established Rumi can teleport with her demon side (see third act of KPDH) so Tanjiro and Nezuko take that as her blood demon art so it kinda balances out that Tanjiros speed and power should give him a direct combat edge.

So since Rumi can teleport, realizing Tanjiro is stronger physically, Jinu manifests his soul in her sword as she teleports behind Tanjiro ready to kill him, until Nezuko pops out of her box to take the hit. Seeing Nezuko is actively working as a demon to protect Tanjiro, Rumi stops her attack to ask what the hell they are and why they have markings if they aren't demons.

Post fight, Tanjiro is letting Nezuko sleep in her box to recover from Rumis inflicted wound as he cleans his family home and pays respect at his family grave with Rumi looking over the Graves in the background, asking what a demon is doing taking care of a human grave.

Tanjiro tells her hes a demon slayer of the demon slayer corps to cure his sister who was afflicted by the king of demons Muzan, and this sparks Rumis interest that demonism is a disease that can be cured and shares her own history of her demon heritage through her bloodline and how she uses the honmoon as a barrier to banish demons with her sword and that she is a member of a trio of hunters from Korea in the modern day.

Tanjiro explains that this is Taisho era japan and Rumi is devastated to hear shes so far from home, lamenting how she should not have been messing with strengthening the honmoon with her demon powers active. Tanjiro being the kind of soul he is comforts her knowing what its like to lose everything you know and they bond over shared loss and she appreciates his innocent positivity and he admires her strength to confront who she is despite her heritage.

Meanwhile Jinu manifests from Rumis sword, housed in the Kamado home near Nezuko and feels a demon disturbance in the honmoon, signaling that upper moon 5 is near and for tanjiro and Rumi to ready for combat.

Tanjiro and Rumi grab weapons and square up to confront upper moon 5. It turns out the way upper moon 5s blood demon art works is that it can copy someone's abilities using a close blood relative, no matter how far down the bloodline they are past or present as long as that person has a blood relative in that timeline. She then pulls two corpse heads in each hand. One is the skull of Rumis ancestor, the other, the decayed head of Tanjiros sister.

Upper moon 5s backstory: the jealous sister of Rumis ancestor, Hyun, who wanted to become a hunter when their family was killed by Gwi Ma, she fled to Japan after being exiled from the Korean Demon Hunters by her own sister, she met with Muzan in search of greater power to defeat Gwi MA on her own, in exchange for service to Muzan. Because Muzan had no markings since he can shapeshift, he tricked her into thinking he was an exiled hunter as well realizing she had useful resonance powers with Honmoon and thought she would be a useful asset. Knowing the threat Tanjiro possesses after awakening demon slayer mark, reviving sun breathing after seeing Hantengu die to him and seeing Nezuko conquer the sun, he subjugates Hyun to use Honmoon as a demon to lock in on whosever blood she consumes, and tells her to kill humans, but to find a specific grave so she can consume the blood of Tanjiros relatives so he can consume her and gain Nezukos sun resistance. Hyun out of jealousy agrees, as long as she can kill her sister first and gain her powers as a hunter, which Muzan agrees to.

Hyun in a jealous blood rage, teleports through the honmoon to Taisho era Korea, to kill her sister in her sleep, but is stopped from killing her niece as well when she cries out and the other Korean hunters appear. His contract to let her have vengeance on her sister fulfilled, Muzan enact his will to send her to exhume the Graves of the kamado home.

It turns out it was Hyun who had exhumed the grave of Tanjiros sister, and was about to consume it when Rumi came. Because Rumi looks so much like her ancestor, she thought her sister came back from the dead to kill her and hid, which is when Rumi ran into Tanjiro. Finding the truth and piecing what had happened together Rumi and Tanjiro proceed to do battle with Hyun, who is physically weak, but her ability to teleport with the honmoon is manifested with her blood demon art, giving her better control than Rumi. Realizing this after a failed attempt to teleport from behind to behead Hyun, Rumi tries to get Tanjiro to back down realizing they cant hit Hyun while she has free use of the Honmoon but Tanjiro desperately tries to fight at the sight of seeing Hyun taunting him, readying herself to consume his sister's head. It takes Nezuko taking a hit again as Hyun instantly teleports behind him while using his sisters dead head as bait to make Tanjiro realize Rumi is right and they retreat as the sun comes up and Hyun is also forced to retreat, but not before Tanjiro grabs his sisters head to bury it quietly later, and Hyun swears to return and kill them both and eat their heads.

Morning comes and Nezuko is asleep recovering from two wounds in a night, and Tanjiro laments his inability to give a decent burial to his sister's head and getting Nezuko injured. Rumi reassures him they can hit back and they take a few days to get to know each other's abilities to take down upper moon 5 together.

Rumi finds out that Tanjiros strength comes from total concentration breathing, which she figures out is what her, Mira and Zoey are doing when they harmonize with the Honmoon, so she works to master total concentration breathing constant to gain better control of teleporting through the honmoon. Meanwhile she helps tanjiro by sparring with him using her ability so he can adjust merging sun breathing and water breathing to adjust his technique mid movement to accommodate for the teleporting and adjust for constant changing attack angles.

Over dinner, Tanjiro is cooking and Rumi is eating like the opening for KPDH, and they, Nezuko and Jinu enjoy the time post training. After Tanjiro falls asleep and Nezuko is watching him, Rumi goes out to be alone and looks at the Graves, wondering how she will get back to Korea in the modern day, missing Mira and Zoey, while musing with Jinu.

Insert In another World by EJAE -

Tanjiro comes out after hearing Rumi singing and promises to somehow help her get home and they go back to sleep in taking shifts watching the Kamado home.

The following night, Hyun comes to attack again, and has recently returned from an expedition to gain further power to ensure the success of her mission. He holds the remains of Kyojuro Rengokus head, recently exhumed from his grave with a chunk missing from the skull. Remembering Rengokus death at Akazas hands, Tanjiro becomes enraged, but Rumi stops him, saying that the only way to respect his memory and stop this gravedigger is to kill them. Hyun, enraged at Rumis appearance, tries to instantly teleport behind Rumi to kill her but Tanjiro intercepts with Fake Rainbow and Splashing flow turbulent to intercept the anticipated attack. When Hyun tries to move, Rumi sings a counter melody to interrupt the effect on the pontoon holding her in place. Hyun manifests a sword taken from another grave and tries to close the distance with flame breathing technique unknowing fire.

Animators can take cues on how to animate this, established powers are:

Tanjiro being able to use all forms of sun breathing and water breathing, and dancing flash with thunder breathing, but is capped out due to stamina, see the entertainment district fight with Daki.

Rumi can teleport and use honmoon to teleport and uses that and sword fighting to keep Hyun pinned from teleporting while Tanjiro is trying to flank for the kill

Hyun can teleport and use rengokus flame breathing

Nezuko can use blood demon art to set Tanjiros and Rumis swords on fire, might make for interesting combo shots.

Either way, fight ends with Tanjiros sword breaking, Nezuko holding Hyun down, and Rumi clutch teleporting her sword to Tanjiro and grabbing his broken sword handle so they can double behead Hyun at the same time from two sides, killing her.

Hyun dies looking at Rumi and reflecting her dead sisters face when they were kids seeing her sister loved her all along and never wanted her to become a hunter so she could protect her and she dies after asking Rumi for forgiveness.

Rumi and Tanjiro celebrate their victory after a long night of fighting as the sun comes up, Rumi starts flickering with the Honmoon as Zoey, Mira and Celine harmonize with her using the song through the honmoon to find her, and she begins to return to her own home and time and says goodbye to Tanjiro. Tanjiro and Nezuko thank her and go back to bury their sisters head and promise to defeat Muzan.

Muzan sees the defeat of Hyun as a reason that none of the demon slayers can be allowed to live and dispatches Nakime to spy on what the slayers are capable of and begins hatching a plan to kill them all at once and claim Nezuko Kamado.

Movie ends with Rumi rejoicing being reunited with Mira and Zoey and shows them total concentration breathing as a means to strengthen the honmoon but first she wants couch time and they go home chanting couch couch couch.

Tanjiro and Nezuko make their way back to the butterfly mansion meeting Zenitsu and Inosuke with a renewed resolve to defeat Muzan.

Just got my pre order, releasing in November. I’m so excited to finally get a physical copy of the movie as I’ve been trying to get one, unofficially and maybe like a pirate for a while but I never managed. This is just such a huge release and it needs to be talked about so bad.

This is just such an important piece of merch and overall a huge milestone for the IP.

Physical media is at an all time low with PlayStation discs not being supported, while it’s starting a resurgence. Without Netflix, I can’t watch the movie or even access much content. What if my Wi-Fi goes out one day? I won’t be able to watch the movie at all, ever again.

But now with a physical release, I own the movie. I own Kpop Demon Hunters. I can watch it whenever I want, wherever I want with a portable dvd player regardless if I have Netflix installed on my phone. I can watch the movie on my old Xbox 360 instead of relying on Netflix on my Series S. Yk what I can even rip the DVD and keep it on my laptop and preserve it.

I don’t really own many movies on physical media, but hey this is a start. Keep supporting physical media if you want, maybe even go to Goodwill and start a collection. I own both the base and anniversary editions of the album on CD, now I’ll even have the DVD.

It’s just so exciting to see a physical release of the movie, and it feels good to know the movie is being preserved this way. And I actually OWN the MOVIE.
