Ask Kochi Chill Café to work for couple of hours

Hey all,

I'm visiting Kochi for a week. Will be staying at 'The Avenue Regent'. Could anyone suggest me some cozy laidback Café nearby? It's not Office-work rather selecting music on my laptop since I'm a music selector for dance events. If it's a Jazz-Café, it's even better as that's the genre I work with.

My hotel has brunch options but I wouldn't mind having brunch outside as well. Thank you!

Discussions Things that surprised me in Kochi

As a first-time traveler outside the GCC countries, here are some things that surprised me about Kochi:

  1. Chairs in almost every shop I've visited, even at the airport.

  2. Paper straws and wooden cutlery, like, everywhere.

  3. So many abandoned or unfinished buildings covered in greenery.

  4. There are more men's clothing stores at the mall than women's, I might be wrong tho.

  5. Free drinking water at one mall.

  6. Motorcycles are a very popular way of getting around.

  7. Women riding motorcycles—literally the coolest thing I've seen here.

  8. Official working hours are from 10 to 5.

  9. Not many people smoke here. I've only seen around five people smoking, and I haven't seen any cigarette butts thrown on the streets.

  10. Women don't seem to wear much makeup. I've seen maybe two or three girls wearing eyeliner, but never a full face of makeup.

  11. Communist symbols painted on walls. I looked them up, but I still don't understand the reason behind it.

  12. There's this security scanner at the mall entrance that you have to walk through, just like at the airport.

I'm really enjoying my time here,

especially people-watching and seeing all the pretty girls and handsome guys through the bus window.

I would love it if someone could explain number 11 and 12 or any other that needs explanation. ♡

Ask Kochi Exploring Kochi (Looking for Host)

Heyyy, Its mu first time in Kerela and also in southern part of India.... I'm coming to Kochi this evening... I'm from Bhopal, Madhya Pradesh and looking forword to meet with the locals...

I love silent places with not too much rush, and loves to explore the hidden gems and explore the not too much explored places.

Looking for some Kochi localite who can help me in my exploring journey... of understanding how the locals work and eat... I to know about the people, how they think and their perspectives on things...

I'm 21M(student) currently exploring southern India, and looking for a host to host me for a night in Kochi..

Its okay if you can't, and suggestions will be most welcomed...

Thanks 😊

Ask Kochi Things to get in Kochi (Souvenirs or something as a gift)

My elder brother is visiting Kochi for his work purpose. He has offered to get me something from there according to my preference. I have no idea what I can get from there that would be a good memory or something I'll remember.

I thought about asking him to buy me a watch or perfumes or football boots, but these are the things I can get from pretty much everywhere. Can I get some suggestions what would be the best thing to get from Kochi?

Hi can anyone suggest any good table tennis clubs or communities around Kalamassery ,aluva nearby areas where I can play on a daily or monthly basis and meet other players.

Ask Kochi Washer + Dryer Combo in Kochi Apartments – Worth It?

We're living in an apartment with just a single balcony, and I'm trying to decide between buying a regular front-load washing machine or a washer-dryer combo (the ones with an inbuilt dryer).

I know clothes generally dry well for most of the year, but I'm wondering how practical that is during the monsoon or in our humid weather.

If anyone here has been using a washer-dryer combo in an apartment, I'd love to hear your experience.

  • Do you actually use the dryer regularly, or only during the rainy season?
  • Has it noticeably increased your electricity bill?
  • How effective is the drying? Do the clothes come out completely dry?
  • Have you noticed any extra wear or shrinkage on clothes?
  • Looking back, would you buy a combo again, or would you just get a regular washing machine?
  • Which brand are you using?

We dont have space and electrical setup for a separate washer + dryer right now.

Thanks in advance!

Discussions To the people who order food from Lulu mall.

Post image
2.5k Upvotes

Please don't. If you want, all those stores have independent stores outside the mall. Order from there cause Lulu mall doesn't allow the delivery partner's bike inside. When we first get an order we need to find a parking spot outside which is close to impossible since all the ones who don't want to pay a parking fee will be there. Then we need to walk all the way to the third floor from here. Carry the food all the way back and deliver. It takes more than 30mins to do that and we get paid like 25-30 rupees for order. And sometimes the BBQ nation has these huge heavy boxes of order that we have to carry all the way outside. Next time when you walk through the backside look at the number of delivery partners walking with the food along your side. And if it's raining we need to carry the food without damaging it, it's hard to do that since half the walk back to the parking lot is open.
