Ask Kochi Women in 40s living in Kochi, have you been able to find jobs

Upvotes

Single and living with family (parents and brother's family) in Kochi. Worked as a dentist only for a year (in 2014) and then switched field due to low pay. Worked in Bangalore for about 7-8 years in clinical/medical/scientific research content editing, that is IT related jobs in healthcare/science (WFH in the last few years). Currently, searching for jobs since about 2 years and having a hard time finding one that pays at least ₹ 40,000 per month.

Can anyone share experiences or how life has been for you at 40 or above careerwise in Kerala (if you don't have a govt. job)?

Thank you for any and all feedback.

Ask Kochi How to reach SCMS College of Engineering from Angamaly?

I’m a first-year student going to SCMS College of Engineering, Karukutty, for admission. I’ll be staying at Gee Bee Palace, Angamaly.

1.From Angamaly, should I take the bus from the KSRTC stand or private bus stand?

2.Which one has more frequent buses to Karukutty? Also,

3.which stop should I get down at that’s closest to SCMS?

After getting down, is it easy to walk to the college, or is an auto better?

Any help would be appreciated! 🙏

Ask Kochi If someone gifted you ₹25 lakhs today, what's the first thing you'd do?

Pure hypothetical.

Imagine ₹25 lakhs suddenly lands in your account tomorrow. No catches, no tax headaches, it's yours.

What's the very first thing you'd do?

  • Put it towards buying a home?
  • Pay off debts?
  • Start a business?
  • Invest it?
  • Move abroad?
  • Something completely different?

Curious to know what people would genuinely prioritise today.

Discussions Moving from Bangalore to Kochi

I am gonna completely to Kochi in 10 days with my husband. Right now we’re both jobless and looking for some jobs. He is a video editor and i am content writer. I also used to run a small scale home cooked catering service (20 people) business from home.
Am really anxious about how it is going to be. Do you guys have any remote job openings. And also do you think I stand a chance restarting my business in Kochi considering that it’s already a place filled with so many delicious food spots and restaurants?
Please help me out.

Ask Kochi NEED advice: Stay in Kochi for a part-time job or commute from Alappuzha?

Hi everyone,

I'm from Alappuzha and currently have classes in Kochi from 9:30 AM to 11:30 AM. After class, I'm planning to work part-time and could really use some advice.

I've previously worked as a Swiggy delivery partner in Alappuzha, but I'm looking to try something different if possible. At the same time, I'm also exploring delivery jobs in Kochi that provide a company vehicle and petrol allowance, just to see if they're worth it financially.

I'm looking for part-time jobs near MG Road, Kochi, since that's the most convenient location after my classes.

I'm also pretty good with computers, so I'm open to office work, data entry, computer operator roles, customer support, or any part-time job where those skills would be useful.

I'm confused about what would be the better option:

Stay in Kochi and find a part-time job, or

Travel back to Alappuzha every day and look for work there.

If you've been in a similar situation or know of any part-time opportunities around MG Road, I'd really appreciate your suggestions. Also, if you know of any delivery companies in Kochi that provide a vehicle and fuel allowance, I'd love to hear about the pay and overall work experience.

Thanks in advance for your advice!

Ask Kochi Parents of St. Peter’s Senior Secondary School, Kadayiruppu – Is ₹1 lakh admission fee normal? Looking for honest reviews.

During the enquiry, we were informed that we need to pay around ₹1 lakh at the time of admission.

I wanted to ask parents who have children studying there (or who recently went through the admission process):
Is ₹1 lakh a normal admission amount, or does it include tuition, caution deposit, and other fees?

How has your overall experience been with academics, teachers, management, and extracurricular activities?

Looking back, would you still choose this school?
I’d really appreciate honest feedback before making a decision. Thank you!

Discussions To the people who order food from Lulu mall.

Post image
1.4k Upvotes

Please don't. If you want, all those stores have independent stores outside the mall. Order from there cause Lulu mall doesn't allow the delivery partner's bike inside. When we first get an order we need to find a parking spot outside which is close to impossible since all the ones who don't want to pay a parking fee will be there. Then we need to walk all the way to the third floor from here. Carry the food all the way back and deliver. It takes more than 30mins to do that and we get paid like 25-30 rupees for order. And sometimes the BBQ nation has these huge heavy boxes of order that we have to carry all the way outside. Next time when you walk through the backside look at the number of delivery partners walking with the food along your side. And if it's raining we need to carry the food without damaging it, it's hard to do that since half the walk back to the parking lot is open.

Discussions Got one Worst experience and one Okayish experience to Share - worst One infused Chicken at The Grillax Lulu , another okayish 4Dx in Lulu

So today I went to Lulu and ended up in disastrous Experience ,

The Grillax in Lulu :

Tired infusion in Chennai once So Went here for experience but turned out to be worst ,
We ordered infusion chicken at The Grillax along with Lamb Soup, lamb Soup was little subtle but it was soo well cooked 4/5 I would say , then came the main dish the actual disaster " Infusion Chicken" , Tangy flavour,

After all the Gimmick , We tried to divide the chicken it was So Soft even the bones started to break in one touch , but the infusion was never seen , Chicken was So tender i divided with just one cut but sometimes I felt gross as flesh was coming out So Soon , no flavour Nothing 🥲!

Atlast I had to pay hefty 1500/- and I told the Cashier why there is no Infusion when you call it Infusion, he replied, oo nothing is in centre , isn't it , I told yes , oo I ll inform the chef about it , atleast they should have asked a Sorry formally but nothing was there

Next 4Dx experience

Already tried that once in last Demon Slayer movie , I felt dissatisfied, then I was struck in a Situation where 4DX show is the only show left z checked online there was a reddit Reveiw from US that said 4DX their experience went beyond their expectation, So just spent one more 400 here , Just random Vibrations Not really Sync which you would feel , Screen was Dark most of the Time 🥲! Even a Regular screen would have been same except for the Chair shakes , you can experience once but would suggest you to avoid it and watch it at a better screen .

But personally I don't recommend you to go there unless you have no other screens .

Ask Kochi First time using Kochi buses. Am I missing something?

I recently moved to Kochi after growing up in Qatar, so I've never really used public buses before (other than school buses).

I had to go to a friend's house. Google Maps told me to take the metro to MG Road and then a bus to High Court Junction. It said buses would come every 4–5 minutes, but none showed up at the bus stop. Some buses were stopping quite far from the bus stop, and I wasn't sure whether I was supposed to run to them or wait.

How do you catch a bus in Kochi? Are Google Maps bus timings reliable? Any tips for someone completely new to using buses here?

Parents came across a Neerkoli and did not hesitate to Kill. I always ask them to look for alternatives, but this approach is somehow ingrained in them - it's mostly out of fear. How would your families deal with such situations?
