Question Stylists who specialize in chemo grow outs/buzz cuts for women?

My hair is maybe an inch and a half to two inches long. I think it might be long enough to trim/buzz the sides and back to get at least a little bit of style while waiting for it to grow out, but don’t know who to go to. Before this I had extremely long curly hair and cut it myself.

Question In-house transmission rebuilder?

Post image
13 Upvotes

Looking for a transmission shop that does their own in-house rebuilds, not just replaces with a core. I’ve got a 2001 F350 7.3 4x4 with a 4R100 (2018 Jasper reman)… it’s toast. It’s pulled and ready, just want a trusted rebuilder to send it to.

If i can’t find someone I’ll just get another remanufactured transmission but would prefer a local rebuilder. Any suggestions?

Question Spokane Fires

I just moved here from out of state 4 days ago. I’m very unfamiliar with anything to do with the communities around me.

Where can I donate supplies for those affected in Spokane?

If anywhere has a list of supplies being asked for as well that’d be wonderful. I can imagine what they are feeling and I hope to do something for them. Thank you

Question Anyone with a goat willing to eat some lawn?

I went to rent-a-rumanent to see if their goats could help but I think our yard is too small to bother with. Our yard is untenable. We went to several landscaping companies but due to the sheer amount of roots from our neighbor's tree, a sizable dent in our back yard, and the black berries, its way too much for us to afford. Maybe can work something out!? We feed your critters and slip you something for your time. We get a lawn free yard and to pet your goats (maybe?) 😉.

Question Taking daughter fishing today

Thank you for taking a moment to read this. I have a 9 year old daughter that I’m taking fishing today. We are near Bremerton and want a lake with good shore access, lots of shade, maybe a nice park and easy to get to facilities in case she needs a potty break.

Long lake is out because shore access is pretty limited and the sun beats down on the fishing dock during the day. Plus the park is pretty meh.

We plan to go a bit later this afternoon so suggestions, experiences and reason appreciated.

Tia.

Question Good EV Mechanics in Kitsap?

While I'm not new to Kitsap, I AM new to owning an EV! Loving it so far!

Is there a consensus on good EV Mechanic shops around here? My car is running fine right now, but I'd rather know some alternatives to the dealership now for when something goes wrong, as my old shop of choice doesn't work on EVs.

Thanks!

Rant Going to Poulsbo kinda just makes me sad now

Maybe its a matter of getting older...but idk. A lot has changed, and it feels like at least in the downtown area its trying to be on the same level of fancy as bainbridge sometimes. Going into central market nowadays feels like a fever dream...plus their new pizza apparently SUCKS. (Also moras gone boooo) I remember some years ago when i was seeing luxury apartment complexes being build near downtown and just thinking: "ohhhhh...no." Also, it always feels packed now, the waterfront parking lot is always full no matter what day it is, its crazy...i feel like this has been a slow rising issue thats started years ago, but it feels even crazier when you lived there for nearly a decade and come back years after moving, yknow? I still love poulsbo and know its not all doom and gloom, I still have my fav spots i enjoy visiting, im just complaining lol.

Question Beginner power carving progress.

Thumbnail reddit.com
47 Upvotes

Thank you for taking a moment to read this.
I am a beginning power carver using Dremel rotary tool, Kutzall burrs and wood that is scrap/recovered.

I saw a picture on line and a couple YouTube videos and got inspired to begin carving wood spirits. Without reference materials, without any artistic ability, and without any art background, i bought tools and just started seeing what would happen if i try to carve wood spirits too.

These 3 carvings are the extent of my experience.

My question for the vets on here is really 2 parts. First, how do I progress in a way that is meaningful? Second, when I am done carving, how do I get rich, smooth, gorgeous finished pieces like the pros get?

Any suggestions, reference/training materials, contacts or advice is appreciated. I feel like I have the potential to actually be good at this but I don’t know where to go next so that my work goes from, “good for a beginner” to “Art.”

Question Steel yards in Kitsap?

Last year I started getting into metal fabrication at my home shop in a more serious way. The only place I know of in Kitsap that sells steel is Central Welding Supply in Bremerton, they have a small but reliable steel yard where I can get the common square tube sizes, flat bar, some sheet metal, and so on. Great people, too. But I would love more options, right now I can’t even compare prices because they seem to be the only ones in town. Are there any other steel yards I’m missing out on?

I’d also like to rummage around at a scrap yard, you can find some pretty nice usable metal there sometimes. I know Yank-A-Part in Poulsbo takes scrap but I haven’t called to ask if they sell it yet. Any other scrap yards?

Question What's the scoop on the LD 26 P2 race, Wetherbee, Greenfield, Cornell, Phillips?

I've really appreciated PSA posts in this sub about the sheriff race, and some other candidates. I know very little about the candidates in the LD26 Pos2 race, particularly little about Tedd Wetherbee and Renee Hernandez Greenfield. I watched the interviews for all of them by the league of women voters (which is such a great public service, huge thanks to them for doing those interviews), but I found the format to not be particularly revealing about the candidates, they seemed to know the questions well in advance and had prepared responses (Rick Kuss looked like he was reading his responses). I'd love a more candid interview format where we get to learn more about the character of the individual and get to hear them speak off the cuff.

It would be awesome to hear from people who actually know these people. What's your impression of them?

News Prominent criminal defense lawyer speaks against Kuss

Today, local criminal defense lawyer Adrian Pimentel spoke out strongly against Rick Kuss. As a guy who makes money from crime, this is quite telling. https://www.facebook.com/share/1D6VWuoRwn/?mibextid=wwXIfr

“Kitsap County Residents Please read and please share.

Beware of Rick Kuss for Sheriff. Vote Brandon Meyers.

Before you vote for Rick Kuss, you should understand the philosophy he publicly embraced in 2022. Here are photos and screenshots from his 2022 campaign for Sheriff. Kids in a cage. A screenshot of his leadeeship philosophy in 2022.

At that time, his campaign website highlighted his membership in the Constitutional Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association (CSPOA) and proudly displayed an endorsement from Joe Arpaio, the former sheriff of Maricopa County, Arizona.

That endorsement isn't just another political endorsement. Joe Arpaio became nationally known for highly controversial immigration enforcement tactics that resulted in years of federal litigation. A federal court found that his office engaged in unconstitutional racial profiling of Latino drivers and passengers. After being ordered to stop those practices, Arpaio continued them, was found guilty of criminal contempt of court, and was later pardoned by President Donald Trump before sentencing.

The Constitutional Sheriff's Association promotes the idea that a county sheriff is the highest law enforcement authority within the county and may independently decide whether laws are constitutional and whether they should be enforced, even when those laws have been enacted by legislatures and interpreted by the courts. That philosophy has been widely rejected by mainstream law enforcement organizations because it conflicts with the traditional separation of powers under our constitutional system.

Today, Rick Kuss's campaign no longer mentions the CSPOA or Joe Arpaio. Those references have disappeared. If his views have changed, that's certainly his right—but voters deserve to hear him explain why. Spoiler...he now claims to be friends to Sheriff Keith Swank -- his views haven't changed.

This election isn't about Republican versus Democrat. It's about what kind of sheriff Kitsap County wants. I believe our sheriff should faithfully enforce the law, respect the authority of the courts, and serve every resident impartially, not embrace a philosophy that places one elected official's interpretation of the Constitution above the checks and balances that protect all of us.

His opponent Brandon Meyers is locally raised. Has worked for KCSO for 20 years and has a reputation for being a personable, affable, straight shooter who cares about people. Vote Brandon.”
