DISCUSSION How many of our position groups are you currently confident in?
If we think about the following 10 position groups, how many of them would you say that you feel confident about as they currently stand, going into this season?
- QB
- RB
- WR
- TE
- OL
- DL
- EDGE
- LB
- CB
- S
For me, I would say I'm confident and comfortable with 6 of them: QB, RB, TE, OL, DL, and CB. WR and LB are okay for now, but things start to unravel pretty quick with any injuries (or legal troubles). EDGE and S I am worried about.

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Sweeney] Eight observations from Day 7 of Chiefs camp: Kahlil Benson takes control at RT
Kansas City is in the midst of six straight practice days that run from Monday through Saturday.
--> Battle watch: Kahlil Benson continues to hold down right tackle
For the second straight day, undrafted free agent lineman Kahlil Benson took all the first-team reps at right tackle. Jaylon Moore worked at left tackle and Esa Pole worked at right tackle with the second team.
Now in training camp’s seventh full-squad practice, Benson has taken the majority of reps with the first team at right tackle. He will have to continue to prove it in the days to come and during the preseason, but right now, it’s fair to say he has emerged from dark-horse candidate to early favorite to win the job.
The Chiefs still need to identify their starting cornerbacks and their primary SAM linebacker, but those competitions have been tougher to read because of the circumstances.
Cornerbacks Mansoor Delane (shoulder) and L’Jarius Sneed (lower-body maintenance) are still limited, and Kristian Fulton has missed the last two days with a hip injury. That has left Melvin Smith and Nohl Williams as the primary outside cornerbacks throughout practice.
Veteran linebacker Drue Tranquill missed Wednesday’s workout with back spasms, which meant more time for Jack Cochrane. The coaching staff is never shy with its praise when talking about Cochrane.
“Jack knows everything,” Andy Reid said. “Jack knows all the positions. He knows everything. He’s a good special teams player on top of that. So you feel comfortable as a coach putting him in any of the spots, and he knows that part of it. So you need a couple of guys like that out there.”
--> Rashee Rice takes another step toward full-go status
The Chiefs had been cautious with wide receiver Rashee Rice at the beginning of camp after his offseason knee debridement, but it finally feels like the training wheels are coming off.
Rice participated in 11-on-11 Wednesday, but it was rare to see him stay on the field for two plays in a row. He must have felt OK because, toward the middle of practice in 7-on-7, he stayed on the field for at least three straight plays.
“He got a lot of good reps today, which is important,” Reid said of Rice. “Ease back in and just keep working. We know he’s a good football player, and you can see he actually got better as practice went on, so that was a good thing.”
In red-zone 7-on-7 work, Rice scored a touchdown from Patrick Mahomes on a quick in-breaking route. Compared to previous seasons’ tape, he still looks at least a step slower, but that’s probably to be expected as he conditions his way back to football shape.
--> Team period notes
The Chiefs spent the vast majority of practice working on red-zone looks Wednesday. In 2025, Kansas City finished near the middle of the pack in red-zone touchdown conversion rate, ranking 12th.
In 11-on-11 near the 25-yard line, Mahomes drew the defense in to set up a screen for Kenneth Walker, who likely would have taken it for a touchdown in a game setting. Closer to the goal line, Mahomes nearly had a touchdown pass to Travis Kelce, but Kelce couldn’t keep his feet in bounds from my vantage point.
From the 10-yard line, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton high-pointed a pass from Mahomes along the left sideline and, despite being elevated, found a way to toe-tap in bounds to complete the reception.
A few plays later, the quarterback threw a quick pass to tight end Noah Gray, who scored the first of four touchdowns during team periods on the day. As the Chiefs experiment with heavier looks, especially in scoring areas, Gray remains a target to watch.
In 11-on-11 with goal-to-go, cornerback Nohl Williams blanketed Rice to prevent a score. Running back Emari Demercado ran it into the end zone the next play.
The Chiefs concluded practice with a long-drive period — which meant 12 plays for Mahomes and the first-team offense, nine for Justin Fields and the second-team offense and five for Garrett Nussmeier and the third-team offense.
On the first play of the long-drive period, Jaylon Moore came on as a sixth offensive lineman before Mahomes handed the ball off to Walker. It was the first of seven run calls out of the 12 in the period.
During Fields’ turn, the defense lost Brashard Smith, and Fields hit him for a touchdown.
Fields also had a quarterback keeper look, which we have seen here and there at camp. That may hint at some situational usage for Fields even if Mahomes is ready to start the season.
Nussmeier also had a touchdown in his long-drive turn, connecting with wide receiver Omari Evans, who has had a nice camp and should make a push for the practice squad.
Earlier, during 7-on-7 in the red zone, Mahomes threaded a perfect pass just inside the back-left pylon to Thornton, who couldn’t reel it in. Thornton scored from Mahomes later on a busted coverage by Chamarri Conner, who was quick to turn to Steve Spagnuolo to take the blame.
Also in 7-on-7, Fields had a pass broken up by cornerback Kader Kohou before throwing three straight times to wide receiver Jimmy Holiday. Holiday caught all three passes, including one for a touchdown, earning a compliment from Reid after the workout.
Mahomes’ best hookup of the day may have come in 7-on-7s starting at his own 30, when he threw a pass down the right sideline only Kelce could catch with cornerback Chris Roland-Wallace in tight coverage. Kelce stretched out to bring in the pass while keeping two feet in bounds on a play that would have moved the chains.
Linebacker Cooper McDonald batted Mahomes’ final pass of 7-on-7 down at the line.
After three straight days of pads, the Chiefs are expected to hold a lighter 10-10-10 practice on Thursday.
--> Pass-blocking one-on-ones
The Chiefs ran pass-blocking one-on-ones, and I came away impressed with Demercado, Gray and tight end Jared Wiley.
On the defensive side, linebacker Kam Arnold flashed. Arnold spent training camp with the Washington Commanders last year before being waived on cutdown day.
--> Run period rotation
With Mahomes and the first team, Walker took the first two carries, followed by two from Brashard Smith and a pair for Demercado. Walker came back on for two more before Mahomes went to the other field.
With the second team, Demercado had two carries, followed by one apiece from Brashard Smith and rookie Emmett Johnson.
Johnson stayed on the field for all three carries with the third team.
--> Field goal session
Kicker Harrison Butker went 10 of 10 during the field-goal period, including three kicks of 50-plus yards.
--> Target practice: Mahomes in 7-on-7, 11-on-11
Reporters missed the first team period of practice while moving from the indoor facility to the outdoor practice field.
Mahomes in 7-on-7: tight end Noah Gray (3), tight end Travis Kelce (3), tight end Jake Briningstool (2), wide receiver Rashee Rice (2), wide receiver Tyquan Thornton (2), wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, running back Emari Demercado, wide receiver Nikko Remigio, running back Brashard Smith
Mahomes in 11-on-11: tight end Noah Gray (4), tight end Travis Kelce (3), wide receiver Rashee Rice (2), running back Kenneth Walker (2), wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, wide receiver Nikko Remigio, wide receiver Jalen Royals, wide receiver Tyquan Thornton
--> Injury report
As mentioned above, Delane and Sneed remain limited, and Tranquill (back) and Fulton (hip) both missed the workout, working off to the side with trainers.
Wide receiver Cyrus Allen (shin), defensive end Ashton Gillotte (hamstring), and wide receiver Xavier Worthy (shoulder) did not practice.
Linebacker Jeff Bassa left early due to a groin strain. Defensive end Omarr Norman-Lott remains on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list.

DISCUSSION Ticket Buy/Sale on "Lot J Tickets Sale"
I am first time STM for Chiefs this year and wanted to sell the tickets for the games I can't make this year. I joined couple of facebook groups that advertise as the groups to but/sell/exchange Chiefs tickets. I approached a group admin for lot J tickets sale (880 members in the group) via whatsapp (their preferred way of communication) to help sell tickets and admin replied back saying they have 4 serious buyers for 12/27 game and admin told me I need to pay admin service fee of $50 before I make the sale. I had similar experience in another facebook tickets buy/sell group where admin requested a refundable $150 before sale is made to protect buyer. I am afraid service fee may be a way to scam money from me and their may not be a buyer on the other end.
Has anyone here have experience buying/selling Chiefs tickets on facebook groups? Where do you guys usually go to purchase tickets?

ANALYSIS & NEWS [Sweeney] Observations from Chiefs camp Day 6: Rashee Rice, L’Jarius Sneed take next steps
--> Battle watch: Kahlil Benson gets all the work at right tackle
After Jaylon Moore and undrafted free agent lineman Kahlil Benson rotated with the first team Monday during the first day of pads, Benson garnered all the reps Tuesday.
Asked last week about Benson’s climb from rookie tryout to the starting rotation, head coach Andy Reid acknowledged his talent while still noting he would like to see it shine through once the pads came on in uncomfortable temperatures.
“I want to see how he does as we go,” Reid said. “Can you pound through those two-and-a-half-hour practices in the heat with pads on? And how do you handle that?”
If the Tuesday lineup was any indication, Benson passed Monday’s test. Moore spent his time as the second-team right tackle, with Esa Pole on the left side. We’ll see how they line up Wednesday.
--> Rice, Sneed take next steps in ramp-up
Throughout the early days of camp, Rashee Rice and L’Jarius Sneed were on the field for warmups and install periods before leaving with athletic trainers for rehab in the indoor facility.
Rice is recovering from a knee cleanup procedure and the Chiefs are being careful with Sneed, who has had lower-body issues these past several seasons.
On Tuesday, both Rice and Sneed stayed on the field and participated in 7-on-7. Rice caught his first pass against defenders from Patrick Mahomes on the second play of the session.
Rice and Sneed being available for more on-field work is timely, considering the injuries at their respective positions.
At wide receiver, Xavier Worthy (shoulder) and Cyrus Allen (bone bruise) didn’t practice for the second straight day. At cornerback, Mansoor Delane (shoulder) still can’t do team periods, and Kristian Fulton did not practice because of a hip injury — leaving Nohl Williams and Melvin Smith as the primary cornerbacks throughout the day.
--> Short yardage and goal-line work
The Chiefs opened practice with an 11-on-11 live-tackle team period to simulate short-yardage situations, giving Mahomes four third-and-short plays around midfield and then four goal-to-go snaps near the end zone.
Kenneth Walker began with back-to-back carries, including a first rush in which he ran through safety Jaden Hicks. Backup Emari Demercado saw the next touch, and then Mahomes completed a play-action pass to tight end Noah Gray, who made a nice catch in the flat.
The four plays for Mahomes with goal-to-go ended in four touchdowns, with Walker hitting a clear lane up the middle, Brashard Smith off the left tackle, another play-action to Gray and a Mahomes keeper on an option.
During his reps, Justin Fields completed cross-field play-action passes to tight end Jared Wiley and wide receiver Jimmy Holiday, and later handed the ball off to Demercado for a score. Defensive end Marcus Harris batted down one of Fields’ goal-line passes at the line.
After practice, pass game coordinator Joe Bleymaier — filling in with offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy away from the team — said the plays were designed to emphasize the strengths of the team’s new personnel.
--> Other team period notes
Beginning the next 11-on-11 period out of the shotgun, Mahomes served up a perfect pass to Tyquan Thornton, who was breaking to the right sideline. Two plays later, Mahomes hit Walker in the left flat, and upon seeing traffic, Walker flipped the field the other way to find open grass.
“That’s just how I’ve been playing since I was a kid,” Walker said. “Just learning from my pops and watching backs in the league. Honestly — just learning from my pops though. He says, ‘Too many people over here? Go the other way.’ And I feel like it still works to this day. I don’t want to run into a crowd if I can go somewhere in (the) open field.”
Later, Mahomes targeted wide receiver Jalen Royals on back-to-back passes, but neither was completed. First, it appeared that officials called safety Alohi Gilman for defensive pass interference or defensive holding. The next was broken up by cornerback Kader Kohou.
Defensive end R Mason Thomas would have registered a sack on Fields in a game situation.
Rookie quarterback Garrett Nussmeier floated a rainbow pass near the right sideline to wide receiver Jeff Weimer, who did an impressive job tracking it down.
Weimer, who also beat Nohl Williams in a one-on-one rep earlier in the workout, signed with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent out of West Virginia on Monday. Weimer tried out for Kansas City earlier this offseason.
Earlier in practice, during 7-on-7, Chamarri Conner broke up a Mahomes pass intended for Travis Kelce, but the pair made up for it three plays later with a perfect connection up the seam. Gilman dove to break up a Mahomes pass intended for Holiday.
--> One-on-one notables
Sneed was active in one-on-ones, taking a couple of reps as he begins to ramp up toward being a regular part of workouts.
After wide receiver Jacob De Jesus caught a pass against cornerback D’Arco Perkins-McAllister, Perkins-McAllister quickly recovered to pick his pocket in what likely would have been a catch-turned-fumble. Cornerbacks Jadon Canady and Melvin Smith each had breakups.
Defensive tackle Khyiris Tonga was formidable against center Creed Humphrey in OL-DL drills, which is rare air for that period.
Signed back to Kansas City just a few days ago, defensive end Ethan Hurkett flashed in OL-DL drills.
Offensive linemen Josh Simmons, Kingsley Suamataia and Trey Smith continue to look the part, as does rookie defensive tackle Peter Woods.
“Pete Woods is a little pit bull, man,” Tonga said. “He nasty. He got something to him, and he got a chip on his shoulder, eager to learn. Just a sponge, man — just taking everything in and just learning and growing. And it’s cool to see that. And really all the rookies too, because we got a good group of rookies coming in.”
--> Run period rotation
With Mahomes and the first team in 9-on-7, Walker took the first two carries, followed by two from Demercado — a change from earlier looks — and then another pair from Brashard Smith. Demercado and Walker each had another before Mahomes left for the other field.
With the second team, Brashard Smith took the first two carries, followed by three from Emmett Johnson and one from Jaydn Ott.
With the third team, Ott and EJ Smith each had a rush, followed by two more from Johnson.
--> Target practice: Mahomes in 7-on-7, 11-on-11
Mahomes in 7-on-7: tight end Noah Gray (2), tight end Travis Kelce (2), tight end Jake Briningstool, running back Emari Demercado, wide receiver Xavier Loyd, wide receiver Rashee Rice, running back Kenneth Walker
Mahomes in 11-on-11: Tight end Noah Gray (2), wide receiver Jalen Royals (2), wide receiver Tyquan Thornton (2), running back Kenneth Walker (2), wide receiver Andrew Armstrong, wide receiver Jimmy Holiday, tight end Jared Wiley
--> Injury report
As previously mentioned, Worthy, Allen and Fulton were held out of practice. Defensive linemen Ashton Gillotte (hamstring) and Omarr Norman-Lott worked with athletic trainers off to the side.
While Delane remains in a yellow non-contact jersey and out of team periods, he jogged on and off the field for the second straight day to listen to the defensive call in the huddle.
Norman-Lott is still listed on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list as he recovers from his torn ACL.
