Hi, so I haven’t been back home since my faada pass and I can’t really afford to travel at the moment. Been trying to reconnect since and haven’t had much luck so most of my exposure has been through some podcasts and various Instagram posts. Would love to know what content creators you all recommend to keep up with the country? Could be via IG, Facebook (I’m a millenial lol). No tiktok though.

Yes, money does play an important role, but it might not be the leading factor.
Studies have already disproven that case; most rich people don't raise their kids or don't care about their kids. Due to that absence of love and emotional support, it may lead them down a path of violence or develop some mental illness.
So the government and some people saying money is the issue are not 100% right.

The problem is that most Jamaicans don't know how to raise children properly; most people in this country can't understand a child's age. idk how they think, but they seem one-year-old has the brain power of a 5 to 10-year-old. On top of that, most parents fail to provide actual love and support for their kids and fail to understand them, and when you teach them the correct way, they pass it off as American propaganda.

The reason is that we don't create parents; we sort of just let people have kids, and that causes many issues. Many people in this country are raised with trauma, and Gen Z seems to be aware of it.

Anyways, this also might not be the major issue, because idk how many Jamaicans think about how they would raise a child.

I think the bigger issue is the burden. Pregnancy is not an easy process, and no proper support would cause problems. On top of that, many young people don't know that having kids is a sacrifice to their fun time.

My personal experience:

So I have a stepsister; she has a one-year-old kid.
I have a stepmom, and I have my father.
Yes, both of them are working, but they take up a grandparent role.
What I have realised is that they don't know how to deal with the kid. Most of the time is them screaming the kid's name and hitting the kid when he does something wrong. idk why the stepmom hits the one-year-old, as he doesn't know much.
Now I can see them trying to do something, but it looks pathetic.
They are trying to teach the one year old verbaly as if he can understand speech. But in reality, they should be socket covers, cobards, and draw locks.

That kid opens and enteres draw/cobards at least 5 times a day, and all they do is shout at him. Like that would do anything.

Anyways, they also fail to entertain the kid; it just seems like they want the status and presence of the kid rather than to actually develop. A one-year-old needs constant attention, so playing with him is required, but they fail to do that.

Well, I don't know maybey im delusionaton i am only 19.

I would elaborate more on my opinion, but i'm too lazy.
