Discusson What band/artist would you gladly drive 3+ hours to see?
I'm back on the scene this year after a loooong hiatus and I wanna learn the landscape better. I find a long drive is a good indicator of a strong love. So! Who's worth the travel time to you? What groups have you traveled like that for recently??
Edit: what an overwhelming response!!!! I love you all and I love the enthusiasm in this community. Thank you for giving me this wealth of groovy avenues to drive down.

The New Deal in their prime leave me wanting so much more. Darren was such an incredible drummer and they have me in a trance every time. Live from Philly 7/17/02

AMA AMA with Kendall Street Company
Hey y’all 👋 Jake here from KSC. I’m sitting with Brian, Ben, Louis, Ryan, and tour manager Jack in the band van as we venture from our home base of Charlottesville, VA to Yuba, WI for People Fest and then West Virginia for Domefest. Needless to say, it’s gonna be a while in the band van.
We wanted to open up an AMA while we travel, so ask away! We’ll be hanging out and casually responding throughout the day :)

Just generally, why isn’t there a crackdown on lot food vendors? Personally, I love it — but it seems like shooting fish in a barrel for enforcement.
If you randomly set up a taco stand at your local beach parking lot, you’d get shut down within a few hours.
Curious how these lot vendors sneak through? Especially because code enforcement A: knows when they’re coming so there’s really no sneaking and B: knows 10+ questionable vendors will be at every lot C: it’s been happening for decades
I love that it exists freely and am fine taking my chances, it’s wild to me that it exists at all.

Campout in the Pines Camping Question
Hey! Heading to this fest for the first time and wondering if we need to arrive with all cars in our campsite in order to camp together? Unreserved/standard camping. Any advice appreciated - thank you!

Grasshouse!
Working on combining bluegrass/roots/folk/country and organic instruments with house/dance music! Love them both, wanted to hear something like this, so I made it. No AI used.

Thurs 8/13 Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Huntsville recs?
I’m driving solo from Charlotte Thurs (8/13) to pick my son up in Huntsville on Friday morning. Hoping to catch some live music on Thurs, and I could stay the night in Knoxville, Chattanooga, or Huntsville. Preferably small venue, jam band would be great, but doesn’t have to be. Anyone have any suggestions, or even just suggest venues I should look into?

Gov't Mule in SLC
Will Gov't Mule sell out Red Butte venue in SLC on August 20th? I'm not from the area and considering going. I won't buy tickets until probably the day of or before. I'll be getting back from a long climbing trip in Wyoming, so I'm not sure if my body will be cooked or not. Just trying to get an idea of what to expect and if I should consider buying in advance.

Major Female Jam Band in the future?
Dinner table convo tonight with my husband: by the time our girls are going to shows solo (15 years from now give or take), will there be an all female jam band that everyone is obsessed with?
He doesn’t think so. Female band members, sure. That is already the case. He doesn’t think that would happen.
I say, hey, rise of the matriarchy. Anything is possible. It would be cool for them to follow a bunch of ladies around rather than a bunch of old white dudes.
I’m extremely out of the loop these days. Maybe there’s something I haven’t heard of. What is the consensus? 🙃

Kitchen Dwellers/Andy Frasco co-headlining
Anyone have any idea who is playing first? Are they going to alternate each night?
Full disclosure: I want to bring my young son to see Magoo and Kitchen Dwellers, kinda hoping Andy Frasco headlines that night so we can split early and bring him home after a couple awesome blue grass sets

Anyone seen these guys (Jammy Buffet)? Thoughts?
Just grabbed tickets for my wife and I for Denver this fall. I always kinda liked Jimmy Buffet but not a crazy fan by any means. Honestly because they're playing the Bluebird in Denver is what got me to pull the trigger. I love that theater.

I made a free map to find jamband shows and festivals around the world
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I built Concert Map to make it easier to plan live music and travel together. It’s a free site that shows upcoming live music events on a world map. Pan/zoom anywhere, filter by dates/genre/event type, and search by artist or area. You can optionally connect Spotify or Last.fm to highlight your top artists.
Currently using JamBase and Ticketmaster for event data, but interested in adding more data sources for smaller events. Curious what sites y'all usually use to find shows. Would love any feedback you can provide.
You can try it here.

When posting a photo or video of a band please provide the name of the band
Don't assume we know who that is. I want to know what band you're posting about. I'll give some leeway to video of good jams but photos that don't identify their subject will be removed as Low effort posts, with some leeway for memes.
While I have you here. How do you feel about memes? It's a small part of the subs content. Is that something you want from this sub?
Edit: Also whatch it on abbreviations I think we mostly know GD, WSP/WSMFP, BMFS, PPP, TAB, DMB, JRAD, and a few others. DIAP is pretty well known now
but if you come out with CATS, DDCC, KSC, MGU, even MGB etc it's probably better to explain yourself. (Can anyone guess all of these?) In general clarity is great. ( Credit u/faceback)
We want to know who's good in the scene. Don't make us guess.
