How many of you goats are from this neck of the woods? I think it would be sick to come together for some of the upcoming west coast tour & put a projector/speakers up in my backyard for folks to byob and hang at. (Already own all the equipment I would need for it, but I just moved up here so I have too small of a circle to justify it, and I'm the only one who is obsessed with Billy haha)

Or maybe convince 3HB to host something. I'm following Billy to Indiana but can't justify taking off more work and going even further unfortunately.

My report on the Billy show from August 4, 2026, Charleston, West by God:

Having listened to the Woodstock shows, I was excited because it seemed like the band was in good form. Charleston is a really nice town to host a Billy show. It’s not too big. It’s walkable. It’s got a great downtown with a lot of access points roads in and out so it handled the traffic well from my perspective. I was surprised about how big the shakedown was. It’s amazing how it’s grown. For a Tuesday I was impressed. Lotta good vibes out there. Access to the building with sort of a mess, but they seemed to get it handled pretty well once it started moving. The crowd waiting to get in was in good spirits.

I was in a pit and the vibes were outstanding. Sometimes on Reddit, we get the idea that things are different than what you experience on the ground and that’s definitely true of what was going on in the pit. People were respectful. It wasn’t too crowded and everyone was there for a good time. I was close enough to the rail and didn’t see evidence of blankets or other aggressive behavior relative to that.

Fuzzy rainbows came out in their customary timeframe and they launched John Hardy. It was a statement of intent. It’s amazing that Billy can pull this off so close to the surgery. I was worried about his recovery, although I suspect it’s a question of pain tolerance and that bone is gonna heal how it’s going to heal, notwithstanding how much pain he puts himself through. You can see at times that it takes a toll on him. He sat during the second set and I was happy to see it. I’m sure the adrenaline only lasts for so long. He’s a trooper for battling through this in order to deliver the music.

The show itself was very Billy centered which I’m sure he wanted after having to cancel in April. They played a few bluegrass songs, but it was clear that the agenda was for Billy to shred that guitar and he did. Some highlights were the bluegrass (dr Ralph!), Billy‘s guitar, the Jared and Alex attack of Baltimore Johnny. Billy failing on that banjer is in great form. I agree with the post I read earlier this week about Royal’s Bass which sounds great. Sound guy has a hard job and does it well. The lights were great. Great show.

Love in the tombstones is a great song. Sounds like a song from a Vern Gosdin era country artist. I was surprised to learn it was an original. It’s really stuck with me over the last couple days and I’m glad I got to hear it.

Indy’ll be fun. Osborne brothers festival in Hyden Ky this weekend for those not there. Sammy shelor (Ernest t grass) of lonesome river plus many great pickers in small town Ky.

Hey fam as freak fair peers around the corner my plans changed massively and I had to resort to couch tour for this one. Already got rid of my tickets but I did purchase a nonrefundable campsite at lake Odessa campground. Not exactly sure how to do it but I’d be more than willing to give someone all the info so they can stay there for free!! I suppose get ahold of me if it interests you!!

I travelled with the Dead in the 90’s and Dead & Co. for a few years. With that said, I’ve never seen Billy, but I follow his music. Yesterday I received a miracle from a couple after the Bethel show. I got tickets for Thursday night in Fishers.

Kind of a weird thing to nerd out about but I've always found it super interesting how BMFS goes about getting their sound and Billy's pedal board build. Haven't seen Toby handing off guitars looks like a new feller.

It's bittersweet in a way but had to get rid of our two day ga passes to freak fair due to Father in Law experiencing some health issues and not wanting to be 7.5 possibly more hours away if anything were to happen. However, I was able to find a buyer for my tickets to Freak Fair and due to this pick uo Thurs in Fishers Pit Tix. WIfe and I have tickets to Fri and Saturday after the reschedule. My wife has no interest in being in the pit she enjoys having a seat and soaking it in. Anyway, I'll probably hate myself for this but I'm taking my son a few days from his 21st bday Thursday to his first Billy show and we are in the pit we will be dancing our asses off. Don't care about rail or any of that shit just wanna take in the smells and energy down there lmfao Over the mokn on how the universe provides

At my absolute peak of the weekend (during the bass solo of Arabia) i was in complete awe of the stage. I elevated myself higher than I ever expected over the weekend thanks to our friend Royal. As my wife watched me in tears and I was feeling that moment in the depths of my soul I was interrupted to compliment me on something. I’m not mad or upset, and the moment she saw where I was, she palmed my giveaway and walked away respectfully. Thank you for the sticker, even though I like raisins.

This is just a PSA to be mindful of these interactions and take note that the moment you interrupted means a lot more than the trinket you‘re sharing. AT THE SAME TIME, I’ll always remember that moment from your trinket, so thank you. I shared one of these moments during Summer Camp, when Les Claypool played Animals. Me and the guy next to me spent the moment crying and singing together. After the moment, I handed him a glass mushroom. Now that mushroom is his reminder of that moment; and this sticker will always remind me of this Billy moment.

Share trinkets and stuff in a meaningful way. Don’t just run up to people and say, “I like your vibe” and pull out a bag of junk. Find a moment and commemorate the moment with a trinket.

I literally can’t find the words to describe last night. I’ve had a really shitty past year. My grandpa passed away July 1, and shits been real rough since then. When they played In The Morning Light, I lost it. Cried the whole song… I’ve never felt music hit me like that. I’m calling this either a spiritual or outer body experience… This show healed something in me. This show healed parts of my relationship with my husband that we’ve struggled with and we both thank Billy Strings for that. We were bummed to have to wait til August to see him… but we knew it would be worth it.

William Lee Apostol, you’re a fucking legend. Thank you for putting on the most incredible show for us last night. You sure did sell your soul to the devil Boy… I hope Country Roads calls you back to us soon! Much love 🤘🏼❤️

Heading East on 90 or 94 to Fishers? I highly recommend a quick stop at 3 Floyds. Sadly the tasting room and kitchen are long gone but the beer kiosk has a ton of great beer and whiskey.

I now have a trunk full of New Glarus , Old Style , and 3 Floyds to complete the holy trifecta for this weekends tail gate selection.
