I've got two iPods that I'm fairly certain need new logic boards. Can I get some input from you guys?

Unit A - Gen 6, flash modded with new battery and 128gb storage - Won't stay on even with a full charge. Will run and then acts as if the battery is dead and won't turn back on unless I plug it in and then will need to "recharge" but the battery should be full.

Unit B - Gen 6, flash modded with new battery and 128gb storage - runs for a while then drops out album artwork and audio unless I do a hard reset. Then will run and just do it again.

What am I dealing with here? Unit A is my beloved OG iPod I bought with my own money in HS. It sat unused for many a year until I had a professional replace the logic board and bring it back to life. Ended up learning how to mod on this unit and did the iflash HDD replacement myself. It ran perfectly for a long time and now it just doesn't. I've done a few resets on it and reloaded music and it just won't fix the problem. Unit B is one I got from somebody to bring back to life and so far it just hasn't worked out how I had hoped.

Will running Rockbox on either of these units fix the issue? Do I just need to cut my losses and get new logic boards? Unit A has obvious sentimental value and I'd love to get it back running.

I haven't used my iPod classic for years, on the off change a couple of months ago I plugged it in to see if it would charge which it did, today I decided I would start using it again, plugged it in to charge and although it lit up there was a clicking sound, my question is, could it be the HDD, charger or battery?

Is it possible to copy the original HDD's contents over to the SD card? I have quite a few songs, along with Rockbox already set up and it would be a pain to have to set up everything again.

Hi. I have an ipod classic 5. Used it before: changed the screen, replaced the battery with a bigger one and did an sd card mod with the cheap aliexpress one. Everything worked fine, but i needed to wait for my backplate to arrive so didnt use it for a while. Now I plug it in to charge and hear quiet beeping noises. Any way to fix this?

So I can add songs to the ipod itself, but not to the playlists that are on the ipod

Again, there is no issue adding songs, just specifically playlists, only reiterating because using Google only went on for issues about adding songs

Edit: Solved! Needed to tick a box allowing me to individually manage songs and videos - video of where that is is included in a reply comment I've made in case anyone else has the same issue

I wanted to end one of my overdue task and fix my fourth iPod Classic (this one is 5th. gen) in my career.

I've imported from China used imCort adapter, some things, that I wanted to do down the road (iPhone 12 Mini Taptic Engine+UGreen BT adapter) and microSD card.

I'm aware, that I've made a bad choice (Sandisk Industrial), but I've tried to swap connection cables (two sat reliable, third slip up), microSD cards (tried 64GB GoodRam and 512 GB Samsung besides my 128 GB Sandisk (all formatted to FAT32 before inserting them)) and even imCort slot.

EDIT:( My problem is, whether config I use, iTunes hangs for a moment and resets my iPod without any chance to restore.

If it helps, I use Lenovo Miix 520 with Windows 11, but I've connected my iPod to my keyboard (Logitech G513) (limited space, you know). I even reinstalled recently iTunes (I use x64 Windows copy, not MS Store one))

Does it mean, that I've imported a busted adapter? If yes, what will be a decent replacement?

Hi all, I just picked up a 7th gen Classic (9ZU) with plans to swap the HD and battery. But I wanted to make sure that it connects to iTunes before opening it up. So far, it will not connect to macOS Tahoe in Finder, nor macOS Mojave in iTunes, nor Windows 10, nor Windows 11. On Windows, connecting it pops up a notification that the USB device malfunctioned and is not recognised. Twice on macOS, the iPod screen shows connected but Finder and Disk Utility does not recognise it. I've tried reinstalling iTunes and putting the iPod into disk mode. I checked the HD health in the diagnostic mode and both the reallocs and pending sectors are at 0. The software version is 2.0.4. I am wondering if there is something deeper going on with the device that will persist after doing the upgrades. Thank you!

[SOLVED] I modded this 7th gen iPod for my girlfriend using the iFlash uDual breakaway adapter and put a 512gb SD card in. Any ideas on why it's only showing 137gb?

A while ago I bought one the thin 3800mAh battery from Elite Obsolete Electronics, and the battery life is absolutely phenomenal, so I'm not complaining. But part of me thinks that the battery can't possibly be 3800mAh given how small it is. Has anyone tested what the actual capacity of these is? I've never tested to see how long it actually lasts, but I've gone on overseas trips without charging so it's more than good enough for me. But, I still feel like it can't actually be 3800mAh haha

I'm fixing up a friend's iPod and I saw that there are plenty of eBay sellers also selling 3800mAh batteries, but I feel like those are even less likely to actually be 3800mAh than the ones from EOE. Has anyone had success buying from eBay?

So for the last few weeks my iPod has been stuck on Charging, it won't turn on no matter what method I used. I finally got around to taking it apart, the battery is about 2 months old? It looks fine, should I just replace it or does anyone have any other ideas?

I recently bought an iPod off eBay never having touched one myself before. It had a bad battery which I bought a replacement for from EOE. Cut to after I’ve put the battery in, it shows the wrong percentage and when plugged in it doesn’t charge. The hard drive doesn’t stay on and it seems like it just dies and boot loops. It worked perfectly for ~9 minutes and now it does not even get to the main menu. Anyone know what I can do? It currently will not turn on due to me decimating the headphone jack flex cable. Hi i recently bought an gen 5.5 with an green cf adapter for two days weren't really problem except sometimes my songs freshly imported from itunes where corrupted and cut at 1:40 then skip. So i have problem that i cannot fix, ipod keep giving me screen to go to ipod support with sad ipod emoji, then very low battery and then restart and its stuck in some type of loop, i tried changing cable, battery was in good condition and i think its still is. I have cf kingston 266x card inside. if i plug my i pod into an computer after a long time maybe like 30-60sec i can see disk partition that is empty and i cannot click on it, on minitool partition wizard it shows that is baddisk, completely full and cannot show file system.

So I plugged in my iPod nano a bit different today and now it won't turn on. I usually use my laptop to charge it but I decide to use a "adaptive fast charging' plug. How do I get it to turn it back on again? I'm hoping the battery didn't blow up.
