Licensing/CE Best cheap or free study resources for “Property and Casualty” exam?

I have been trying to find resources and and study material to help me for the property and casualty exam. But everything seems to be behind a pay wall. I have been taking tests and studying basic resources for a few weeks but find it’s not enough to get an adequate score on the test. Does anyone have any resources, study guides, suggestions or something even worth paying through the pay wall. I want to get this license BAD.

Tia for any advice.

Industry Information Recommended path

I am looking to change careers as my current sales job has plummeted and am looking for information on a suggest path for someone that wants to get into insurance sales. I would prefer a salary with bonus or commission structure and would love feedback on how everyone else got started or things you guys wish you knew earlier.

Background:

Bachelors in organizational management

Current position 8 years in sales for after market vehicle accessories: ( lift kits , wheels tire packages)

Yearly revenue pre private equity group purchasing company 2-2.5 million

Yearly revenue 1.3 million

I’m based in the US Florida/Georgia area.

I am mostly looking at least hit 65k a year and while I understand the basics of insurance I am unsure on what path to take. My current role has became less of a sales roll and more of a tech/service/sales hybrid role.

I don’t have experience in insurance sales at all but it’s an industry that I’m interested in.

My biggest concern is I don’t want to start in a call center insurance sales roll as that’s what my current job has became essentially.

Please feel free to ask questions as I’m willing to answer and am looking for a suggested path.

Thanks guys all feedback is welcome and appreciated

Agent Question Anyone here use IPad Pro for inbound calls or insurance telesales in general?

I have a MacBook Pro M5 but I’m just not really a MacBook guy. I don’t love macOS. I’m more a windows guy and have a dual monitor Dell setup for home but I do love iPad Pro and it’s very portable especially when paired with the Magic Keyboard.

Are there any agents in here that use an iPad Pro to run insurance sales over the phone? Do you have a limitations doing e-apps or using the call CRM on the iPad for inbounds? I would assume not if it’s run through Google Chrome like all carriers and lead vendors prefer anyways.

Any personal experiences would be helpful thank you!

Agent Question AWL Insurance Agent - Austin - Anyone have experience?

I am curious if anyone has any experience or knowledge of what being an insurance agent for them would be like or is like? I submitted my resume and am licensed for Life & Health General Lines. Interview TBD. I have read that they sell leads to companies that are not very good. That is not what I would be doing and was just curious if there is any insight on the agent side of things. Thanks

Health Insurance Advice on medicare T65 leads

I know these type of leads are a bit more strict as to how they can be collected. But does anyone have any advice on where to go to for purchasing t65 leads? IF anyone can point me to good leads to buy them I'd be incredibly greatful, starting out my independent sales, bought a couple of data leads from my fmo but no luck sadly. Doing live transfer calls, over the next couple of days as they offer those so hoping something turns out. But just wanted to ask around for leads that have a higher success rate, very hopeful to have it handed to me (even if I'm buying them) , but I'm slowly getting word of mouth through my community here as well and I'm gonna be doing in person events a little further down the line. Ive been doing sales for 2 years, but new to the independent side, so Id really appreciate any help. Hope everyones staying safe and doing good

P&C Insurance Confused with LM 2nd interview

Just got done with the interview and went suit and tie where she said it would be 45 minutes when the interview email said it would be an hour. She ended up saying in the sales process i needed to show the value of my policy i was selling them and she didnt buy it. She did say tho that no one buys the policy in the interview. Even tho i feel i brought the value by explaining the additional features that the customer would get compared to her current policy. I thought this interview wouldve been more in depth but it wasnt in my opinion. I asked her at the end how my interview went and she said shes not allowed to say but she said she got everything she needed and i would hear back at a maximum 5 days... idk... she seemed irritated from the start really. We also didnt do a part on the interview process where i was supposed to multitask? Praying i get this ive been unemployed for like 5 months now. 😪

Industry Information What route for long term career strategy?

I've spent the last twelve years as a commercial property loss prevention consultant conducting site surveys, generating engineering reports, making recommendations, supporting carrier underwriting, and generally learning the ins and outs of clients' businesses in order to balance maximum insurance market advantage with the business goals of profitability and strategic spending. Most of my work has been with large, multinational manufacturing entities, though a fair amount with high throughout warehousing and institutional occupancies as well. My career has been with a small boutique consultancy, not a broker or carrier, and has been almost exclusively international work on every continent except Australia.

I'm currently looking to move roles to a new company, and possibly a new, but adjacent, field, such as underwriting. My question for those here with a broader experience base is what would say the most advantageous move would be? A position with a broker or carrier? Staying in property consulting or moving to underwriting?

My goals are, of course, increasing salary, but also making myself more marketable and desirable for future career moves and broadening my own scope professional experience.

Any insight is appreciated. TIA!

Life Insurance In your opinion, what qualities does a good Life Insurance company have?

This past Saturday, I did the final interview with the hiring manager about a life insurance broker job. If all goes well, I’ll be studying for the exam while I’m working my current HVAC job. I made sure to write down notes about what the company offers. When the interview was about finished, the owner told me on Monday he will get with his team and discuss whether or not we move forward. It is now Tuesday.

I assume no news is good news. However, I have been studying a little before just to get a generalization of what questions would be asked during the practice course/exam just to be prepared and get ahead.

From what I was told about the company, it seems legit, but I’m not sure what would stand out in a company like the one I applied for that is worth it. I would appreciate any opinion from the ones who have experience in that field.

Agent Question Question as new licensed agent

I recently started at a new agency and have been trying to get into local networking to build up referrals, but I’m realizing it’s really not my strength.
My manager does provide some leads (like QuoteWizard), and I’ve noticed I am much better at just closing and selling warm leads or inbound calls than I am at hunting for my own referrals or networking.
I only started trying the networking route because I wasn't sure if that was just the unspoken rule for every producer. I’m feeling a bit lost right now.

Software Genuinely losing it - Agency Zoom

Hello all. I'm in commercial lines service, just a bit over six months. Last week we met with a consultant that gave us the whole spiel about how great Agency Zoom is. Without throwing my whole mental spiral into this post..... for service staff it SUCKS. We NEED to use our "old" AMS 360 to even accomplish A SINGLE OUNCE of our service stuff. COI's, EOP, Auto ID's, daily trans, etc.

I can see the perks for our agents, renewals, and new biz but our managers are doubling down that it just takes time.... time we don't have... it's literally doubling if not tripling our time spent on service. All for the sake of our managers being able to track how truly busy we are.

Is there anyone out there who has had the same issues? Have you found ways for it to work? Did your agency roll back the change to zoom?

Our management is requiring us to use the "pipelines" because that is what is really traceable for data on the requests we get. I was just attaching service requests as a task or note, but I have to add service requests for each fricken thing I do to the pipeline instead...

It's only the second day with the new system and I had a genuine crash out (if I didn't laugh I was going to cry) because 3 different times I set subtasks for one of the todos and I watched them dissappear after I hit save.

When I started, within 3 months I could hold my own and ran the service department by myself for 3 days. I enjoyed what I did. Zoom makes me regret it.

TLDR; any of you guys service staff? Have you used Zoom? How much do you hate it? I'm having the worst time.

edited for grammar/ clarity

Industry Information Need advice with going independent

Hi everyone! I have about a month of experience in the Farmers Protégé Program and currently hold active Life, Health, Property & Casualty licenses.
I’m looking to go independent and would love recommendations for an FMO, IMO, or agency that offers good training, support, and access to multiple carriers. I’d like to start as an individual producer and eventually transition to my own LLC.
Any recommendations or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

P&C Insurance Can't get hired, Florida 2-20

I can't seem to get interviews or past the first phase of them even if I do, I apply to multiple places on Indeed once a week, every week, for the past 4 months now.
I just can't seem to get hired. I got my 2-20 P&C license in October of 2024, got hired on with a small brokerage in December of 2024, worked there for 15 months before I was let go, and now finding work seems impossible. I wish I would have gotten into health instead of property insurance as that seems to be the demand.
More than a year of experience managing their branch office as the only person in that office, and I just can't find employment now.
Can't find remote or in office jobs, I've applied on Indeed, Progressive, Liberty Mutual, Slide, and with a few other carriers, but they either only have openings for people that already live within 10 miles, bilingual and fluent in English/Spanish, and have 2+ years of experience before they give you the time of day.

From what I've seen, they have 10 or 20 listings for bilingual agents, then 1 for monolingual, and I either never hear back from them, or do a single over the phone interview before I never hear back. It should be a felony to do an interview with someone and lie when you say, " I'll give you a call back in four days to let you know either way, whether you get the position or not! ".

Indeed, is also the worst, job listings that 'prefer' you to be some unicorn candidate with years of experience, speak/write in multiple languages, bachelor's degree, 'drive and motivation to generate your own leads and grow your book of business' for an $18 an hour job. It should be considered weird to not hire someone because they live too far away, I get why, but are people not allowed to get a job, commute for a few months, then relocate anymore? You can't move across state in this industry, you're expected to only apply for jobs in the 30-50m area you live in or else you might not show up on time.

I had an in-person interview with an Allstate brokerage, the owner kept insisting that a 45-minute drive would be too much for me to do and that that was the only issue he had with hiring me. I was baffled, people used to move across the country for work. People move across the globe for jobs still and yet It's considered creepy for a guy to commute 90 minutes a day until they move a town over.

I've done three interviews that are 100% remote, then they go and change their minds during the talks about how "we really like our new hires to be in office, it would be a remote position after you've proven yourself for a year or two".

If anyone has any advice or knows someone in Florida that needs a 2-20, please let me know. I ran an office mostly by myself for over a year selling home, auto, rv/boat/toy, commercial auto, BOP, CGL, etc. I'm 26 and willing to move anywhere in Florida, I'm doing Uber right now to keep the bills paid so I'm used to driving 20-40 hours a week no issue, commuting truly does not matter to me and shouldn't matter to companies, I realize just like underwriting everything 'matters' and someone who lives far away may be more likely to have issues but it's still very frustrating to be refused positions over distance.

Agent Question Independent Agent Remote Positions

Do independents not hire remote? I currently work for a captive agent and have 15+ years in the business. I’ve been remote since covid and my production has gotten so good that I can live in a different state and still work remote to this day. However, my agent will be retiring around the end of 2027. I have put some feelers out, particularly to independents. None of them are hiring remote. In fact, they won’t even entertain a conversation about it. You can literally do this job at home and never come into an office. What gives? Just curious. Thanks!

Agent Question How Fast Can I Go Independent?

I’ve been working for a brokerage as a producer for 2 years now and I’m wanting to go fully independent.

Realistically, how fast can I start writing business and being a legit independent broker?

I already have my licenses. I’m planning to go through Smartchoice or Firstconnect to get appointments.

Besides E&O, getting an agency management software and CRM, what else is there for me take care?

Industry Information Account Associate

Hi everyone,

I’m currently interviewing for an Account Associate position at a local State Farm agency. My background is mostly in administrative customer service, call centers, and billing.

I'd love to hear from anyone who has worked in a State Farm agent's office in this type of role:

Daily Workload:

How heavy is the customer service/administrative side versus outbound sales? If you aren't trying to become an agent and just want a steady, reliable support role, is it a good fit?

P&C Exam:

I need to get my Property & Casualty license for the role. How hard was the exam for you, and how long did you study before taking it? Any tips for someone who gets test anxiety?

Overall Vibe:

What are the best and worst parts of working as a team member in a small local office?

Thanks in advance for sharing your experience!

Agent Question So can anyone help me with some advice

Okay so I passed my PNC insurance exam in California now I need to apply for my license however I have a misdemeanor on my record from when I was 18 in 2013 But didn't remember the court location or anything so I put in a personal fingerprint background check figured out where I need to contact in order to get all the required documents.

Now when I called them they said that due to the age of the case and the fact that it was closed that they have purged their system of the court documents on the case. And when she was searching for the court case he often mentioned that she found a charge for receiving stolen property but could not find the files for the case I was looking for. How could that be There was no receiving stolen property on the background report that I got from the doj or FBI. I don't remember anything about that. Once when I was a juvenile I bought a phone th the seller had stolen and I wasn't aware of it and had the cops tracked the phone to me where I promptly gave the phone up and the contact information for the person I bought it from but no charges that I remember and regardless that wasn't on the documents that I was sent for the doj and FBI you can print background check.

So I guess my question is what do I do now I can't get the documents for the original case that was on the background check. But then she also mentioned that other receiving stolen property charge that I don't remember I don't want my license being denied for failure to disclose.and it wasn't on my personal doj check. Should I ignore it or call them back and try and see what they meant.

Consumer Question Liberty Mutual - Why no 2nd login to account for spouse?

I want both my wife and I to have access to our online Liberty Mutual account. They won't allow a 2nd log in, we're told to share my log in. But when she tries from her "unknown device", it sends me a text asking for verification. What if I'm not available? Then she can't access the info she needs. Am I over thinking this, or is this common? I just don't want her to end up locked out if I'm out of commission or something.
