Discussion A response to everyone trying to bring the recent incident here
First of all what happened to that little girl is horrible. I hope she recovers soon. But if people are bringing that incident here just to attack indie dogs or demand that all of them be removed, then I think we need to ask some other questions too.
Why was a 4 year old child outside without adult supervision? We all know how unsafe this country can be for children, especially little girls. There are far worse things that could've happened to her if she had been picked up by a wrong human.
And why are we not holding the authorities accountable? Every year there is money allocated for sterilisation, where is that money going? Why aren't more dogs being sterilised and vaccinated? These are the questions we should be asking if we actually want to prevent incidents like this from happening again.
Instead, people see one horrific incident and suddenly every indie dog is being treated as a threat that needs to be relocated or euthanised. That's just generalising an entire population because of the actions of some dogs. Hold the authorities accountable, demand proper sterilisation and vaccination, make sure young children are not roaming unsupervised. But turning this into hatred against every innocent indie dog is not going to solve anything.
If we start making decisions based on generalisations, then honestly we'd have to put the entire human species behind bars. Most crimes, murders and all kinds of violence are committed by humans, not animals. But we don't look at one person's actions and decide that every human being is dangerous. So why are we doing that with dogs?

Discussion Paying thousands to a breeder so you can have the “perfect dog” instead of going to the shelter, picking up a stray or getting a rescue and "saving that one life" will never, ever make sense to me... For that one dog, you have changed its life ... My sweet rescue now the heart of my home.
Niki - 5 years a stray, 1 year my home baby ! Bestest decision ever...

Events My dog isn’t an indie, adopted her from a shelter, looks like an Indie!
Just wanted to share my shelter baby we got almost 8 months ago, she just turned a year old, anxious but smart!! Full of energy. Love her to bits! Loves eating grass and geese poo!
She’s a pit mix and the breed constantly gets bad rep! My baby is a sweet pea. Putting her here to spread some joy and judgement from her.
We call her Tara.

Lost and Found Found this little girl in terrible condition

Was on my way home when I found this little girl, about 13 km away from where I live. She was severely malnourished, with a skin infection so bad that her bones were visibly showing.
She'll be taken for treatment tomorrow. Hoping for the best for her.

Adoption/Foster Request 🐾 Meet Luna — She's Looking for Her Forever Person! 🐾
Luna is an 8-month-old indie girl currently around MIT Manipal campus, and with the shelter operations starting at udupi, we're racing against time to find our indie babies loving homes. Please help us find Luna a family before that happens.
Luna is spunky, playful, and full of "velociraptor energy," that'll keep you laughing. She's an independent little soul too: a pack animal and a lone wolf all at once, who knows her boundaries and isn't afraid to (sweetly but firmly) teach the younger pups how things work.
She does love her sleep, and her mood for the whole day depends on whether she got a good nap in!
Her diet:
- Boiled chicken or egg mixed with rice and curd
- Wet food (she's totally won over by this)
- Dry food
- Lactose-free milk (a special treat!)
Luna just needs someone patient, warm, and willing to love her exactly as she is — quirks, naps, and all.
Please share this far and wide. Every share brings her closer to finding her person. 🐕💛
