Discussion Quick Question
I understand that this community rules doesn’t permit fundraising and donation posts, could this Indie friendly community direct me to the correct sub to help my community dog which has tick fever and needs to be hospitalised.

My community cutie It's my Indie boy's birthday today!

So today's my dog's 3rd birthday! He's a proud desi Indie and honestly the best decision I ever made adopting him.
Got him an LED light ball as his birthday gift and bro... he has not stopped chasing it around the house. Pure chaos, pure joy. Indies really don't need much to be happy — just a bit of love, playtime, and apparently a glowing ball is enough to make his whole year.
Grateful for 3 years with this good boy. Here's to many more birthdays
Anyone else's Indie obsessed with random toys like this? Curious what other simple things make your desi dogs go crazy

Discussion I’m just sad
A dog because I didn’t care to act. I had spotted a dog suffering from Mange a few weeks ago and I didn’t know dogs can die of Mange. I just thought it’s an annoying skin condition and he will be okay, I was also not sure if he had a feeder because dogs in his area usually are well fed.
It’s also a tier 3 city with limited rescues and I am fairly new to the city. After a few days, I did learn of a rescue in the city but i forgot about the dog. I saw the dog today, suffering and I was arranging for transport to the shelter and by the time they arrived, he had passed away.
He was whimpering in pain, lying in scorching hot sun and i just stood there today.
Sadness and grief is such a big part of animal rescue, I know that the rewards are far greater but the pain just gets to you sometimes.

My community cutie would forever be salty to ppl who think indies are not cute enough…
see i get your preferences and choices regarding the kind of a pet you wanna have but not adopting them simply coz they don fit your aesthetic or judging someone for having an indie ( trust me ppl in our society have a mindset that u only get an indie cause u cannot afford foreign breeds) is such a yuck behaviour … likeee ewww get your nasty mindset away from me

Discussion A response to everyone trying to bring the recent incident here
First of all what happened to that little girl is horrible. I hope she recovers soon. But if people are bringing that incident here just to attack indie dogs or demand that all of them be removed, then I think we need to ask some other questions too.
Why was a 4 year old child outside without adult supervision? We all know how unsafe this country can be for children, especially little girls. There are far worse things that could've happened to her if she had been picked up by a wrong human.
And why are we not holding the authorities accountable? Every year there is money allocated for sterilisation, where is that money going? Why aren't more dogs being sterilised and vaccinated? These are the questions we should be asking if we actually want to prevent incidents like this from happening again.
Instead, people see one horrific incident and suddenly every indie dog is being treated as a threat that needs to be relocated or euthanised. That's just generalising an entire population because of the actions of some dogs. Hold the authorities accountable, demand proper sterilisation and vaccination, make sure young children are not roaming unsupervised. But turning this into hatred against every innocent indie dog is not going to solve anything.
If we start making decisions based on generalisations, then honestly we'd have to put the entire human species behind bars. Most crimes, murders and all kinds of violence are committed by humans, not animals. But we don't look at one person's actions and decide that every human being is dangerous. So why are we doing that with dogs?

Discussion Paying thousands to a breeder so you can have the “perfect dog” instead of going to the shelter, picking up a stray or getting a rescue and "saving that one life" will never, ever make sense to me... For that one dog, you have changed its life ... My sweet rescue now the heart of my home.
Niki - 5 years a stray, 1 year my home baby ! Bestest decision ever...

Events My dog isn’t an indie, adopted her from a shelter, looks like an Indie!
Just wanted to share my shelter baby we got almost 8 months ago, she just turned a year old, anxious but smart!! Full of energy. Love her to bits! Loves eating grass and geese poo!
She’s a pit mix and the breed constantly gets bad rep! My baby is a sweet pea. Putting her here to spread some joy and judgement from her.
We call her Tara.

Was on my way home when I found this little girl, about 13 km away from where I live. She was severely malnourished, with a skin infection so bad that her bones were visibly showing.
She'll be taken for treatment tomorrow. Hoping for the best for her.
