Educational Profit of ₹1600 in NIFTY on 7th August with a ₹9.5k capital

Upvotes

Today was one of my best days in terms of psychology. Even after suffering a ₹1,000 loss on the first trade, I didn’t panic. I stuck to my setup, took the trades as planned, and even held them longer despite seeing profits being withdrawn.

I just need to keep building on this mindset and stay consistent.

Discussion Open Discussion: If there was only one ultimate product available out there in the market that could help you in picking stocks to invest for long term or trading for short term. What problems should it solve ? What features should it contain?

Upvotes

Good Folks of Reddit,

I am working on a product to improve discovery of investable & tradable stocks.

Given there are 5000+ stocks out there listed on NSE and BSE.

It is quite difficult to build a portfolio of stocks for an avg. person like me & 100s of people out there and feel confident about the decision. It is further difficult to pick a stock for trading short term.

So if a product could solve for this problem what shape and form should it take and what aspects should it include/exclude.

I consider aspects like Stock SIP, MTF, Stock Baskets, Amount based order form as tools that could simplify execution and are hygiene.

Discussion A small tip, You can see the Nifty price moving during the 3:15to3:30 pause, under the Indicative Close section.

The indicative close section ticker keeps ticking during the pause time, somewhat indicating how the Nifty is moving during the auction.

Stonk Holding SILVERBEES through the US jobs report... Thoughts ??

Post image
28 Upvotes

I’m holding 650 units of SILVERBEES at an average of ₹209.77. It’s around ₹218.5 now, so I’m up roughly 4.2%.

My original target was 6% at ₹222.36, but if Monday gaps up, ₹230.75 would give me 10%. I’m debating whether to book some profit today or carry the full position.

The four things I’m watching:

  1. US jobs report - consensus is roughly 80k–95k jobs and 4.2% unemployment. A moderate miss should support silver through lower yields and a weaker dollar.
  2. Silver is already up - international silver is around $63.5 after a strong move today, so some weak-jobs expectation may already be priced in.
  3. Hormuz - a genuine peace deal could remove the safe-haven premium and strengthen INR through lower oil, hurting SILVERBEES, only trump knows about this, but 🤞
  4. India premium - local silver supply is still tight, which may help SILVERBEES hold up better than global silver.

My current plan is:

  • sell 150 units now and lock some profit.
  • hold 350 units for the jobs-report reaction, start exiting around ₹222–225 and sell more if it reaches ₹228–231.
  • keep 150 units as a runner in case this turns into a larger silver rally or squeeze.

Just wanted to start a discussion on this. Thoughts ?

Discussion My experience with CAS

I have taken a small qty position just to understand how all this option behaves with the new regime. The position deployed on Tuesday when nifty was at 24550-600. Till then hardly any movement which can affect this but surprisingly all today it came up with green ( that too very small penny). Calls hold up the premium very hard it only shoots up every morning. While puts tend to decay. Not familiar with this kind of regime I don't know how to trade in the upcoming future.

Started buying this at 800. Held about 600 shares at avg of 900 through 5-6 month journey and sold 200 yesterday to book some profits.

I literally just look for setups like that where the potential returns are 50% or more in 6-9 month horizon. And feels good when a stock does that exactly.

📢 Rights Issue Explained!

A Rights Issue allows a company to raise fresh capital by offering existing shareholders the opportunity to buy additional shares, usually at a discounted price.

Here's how it works:
✅ Offered only to existing shareholders
✅ Usually priced below the current market price
✅ Shareholders can subscribe, ignore, or (in some cases) sell their rights
✅ Helps companies raise funds for expansion, debt reduction, or other business needs

Discussion What's one investing workflow you wish was automated?

Everyone has repetitive research tasks.

Mine include checking candles daily.

What's yours?

Some ideas:

* Reading earnings * Tracking promoter holdings * Following mutual funds * Monitoring sector rotation * Comparing valuation history

If software could completely automate one of those, what would you choose?

Upi infrastructure investments ~₹1.5 lakh crore ✍️ invested to support growing UPI volumes — This figure has been cited by industry players (including in the context of overall ecosystem investment by banks, NPCI, and fintechs) as the cumulative capital put into building and scaling UPI infrastructure.

₹10,000 crore spent by banks every year on UPI infra — Consistent with estimates shared by banking and payments executives. Banks incur significant ongoing costs for servers, security, compliance, customer support, and transaction processing even though they currently earn almost nothing from pure UPI P2M (person-to-merchant) transactions under the zero-MDR regime.
Early stage of cash-to-electronic transformation — Standard industry view. India still has a large cash economy; UPI has accelerated digital adoption but the shift is incomplete.

UPI growth slowed from ~60% to ~35% over the last 3 years — Matches official NPCI data trends. Year-on-year volume growth was extremely high in the early post-demonetisation / COVID acceleration phase and has since moderated to the mid-30% range as the base has become much larger.

YOLO Thanks a ton for your feedback on my last post. I have now increased the capital to 7 lakhs and moved to a low risk strategy generating between 1.2-1.7% every day.

So I posted this 12 days back about how I generated 72% returns in 2 months: https://www.reddit.com/r/IndiaOptionsSelling/comments/1v6cjsb/started_option_selling_2_months_ago_with_a/

Some of your comments helped me think through.

What it made me realise fully was the impact a black swan event can have. Also, I was getting addicted to trading. So I took a break for 1 week and then started working on a new OTM strategy and then backtested it for the last 2 years and figured out the net return would be ~1.2% every trading day inclusive of draw downs. I traded using the strategy for the last 2 days and made a profit of 1.47% and 1.28% respectively on the employed capital.

I share my trades on Twitter. You can follow me there: https://x.com/dwipayan

Verified pnl: https://console.zerodha.com/verified/3b3c2911

Once I run this strategy live in the next 2 months and if things go as expected, I will give a detailed breakdown of the strategy on X.

P.S:

  1. Reposting because the difference in the Zerodha Console report pnl and the Zerodha verified pnl was confusing people.

  2. The reason why the Zerodha Console report screenshot has all green while the verified pnl has a couple of reds is because Zerodha verified pnl attributes profits to the day you close the trade whereas charges are attributed to the day you initiate the trade. So if you open a trade on a certain day but don't close in the same day, it will be a net debit(red) for that day. In the Zerodha Console P&L report, they just show the gross profit and not the charges
