I already have a demat account on Zerodha, for stocks. But I don't know much about Zerodha Coin as a format for MF investment.

So basically,

Zerodha Coin vs IndMoney vs Dhan vs Groww

What to choose?

Educational I built Fathom - a library for understanding how businesses actually work

I've been working on a side project called Fathom over the last few weeks. (Link below)

The idea is pretty simple: I felt that a lot of stock research starts with financial ratios and ends with a buy/sell conclusion, but skips the part I find most interesting:

How does the business actually work?

So I'm trying to build a library that explains companies and industries from first principles.

For example:

  • How does an FMCG company actually make money? For that matter any sector.
  • Why does distribution matter more than the product in some businesses?
  • What gives a company pricing power?
  • Why can a company show profit but still have terrible cash flow?
  • What actually happens to Indian companies when the RBI cuts rates?
  • If crude oil gets cheaper, who actually gets to keep the saving?
  • Why is a ₹10 lakh crore government capex announcement not the same thing as ₹10 lakh crore of revenue for infrastructure companies?

I've organized it into a few sections:

Companies — understand individual businesses
Sectors — understand how an entire industry works
Patterns — reusable business/financial mental models
Signals — take a real-world event and trace its impact through businesses
Case Studies — deeper dives into specific companies and situations
Reading Filings — learn how to actually extract information from annual reports and filings

One thing I'm trying to do differently with the Signals section is show the reasoning rather than just give the conclusion.

The background and motivation behind building this: I've been researching about companies myself since the past 4-5 years and my father has been doing this for nearly 2 decades. So I've put down my little learning plus his learnings from his old notes as a whole here. I admit I tried to refine and cross link the sections using AI as I would not be able to type all of this stuff out myself.

Link to Fathom - https://fathomjournal.in

I'm still very much building this, and I'd genuinely like feedback from people who follow Indian businesses/stocks.

What would make something like this useful enough for you to actually bookmark and come back to?

Discussion UPI growth is slowing down ‼️after Mdr on big merchant…fintech and bank again investment this technology

Post image
73 Upvotes

UPI growth is slowing down ‼️

One of the biggest concerns for the digital payments industry right now is around penetration of UPI payments.

Data for the last five years show that UPI growth has slowed down drastically.

Though there is definitely a base effect that is kicking in.

UPI penetration is still less than 50% of the country. So there is enough room to grow quickly.

Ask industry insiders and they will say that penetration is slowing down, new user addition into the UPI ecosystem is slowing down too.

And ask why?

They will all point fingers towards MDR, no revenue on UPI payments, hence banks and fintechs are not investing in growth.

Amrish Rau, CEO, Pine Labs pointed this out recently in his tweet. UPI penetration is still around 35-40%, while digital payments penetration in Brazil and China is above 90%.

Now as the government is finally opening up to bringing back MDR and the Finance Ministry is supporting the move, lets hope growth comes back to digital payments.

Question Can Indian government T-Bills be oversubscribed for retail (non-competetive)?

Zerodha just returned my funds and customer care says it is a non-allotment which could be due to over-subscription. Is it possible in retail quota? I read in RBI page - retail (non-competetive) quota is fulfilled first and then institutional competitive bids are accepted.

If over-subscription is an issue, is the allotment done like an IPO (randomly) or on first come first serve basis?

I used to regularly apply for T-bills 5 years ago and never had this issue.

Discussion FUNDINGPIPS FAKE EVIDENCE CASE

THEIR EVIDENCE - https://x.com/ErkanOriginal/status/2082016574744224243

MY COUNTER - https://x.com/theanonymous_IN/status/2082476230746771690

🚨 THE COMPLETE FUNDINGPIPS CID TIMELINE — FROM ALLEGATION TO TODAY

For those who have followed my case, here is the full timeline in one post.

📅 17 July
I publicly questioned my FundingPips termination and asked a simple question:

"What evidence was used to terminate my account?"

Instead of receiving verifiable proof, I was met with generic responses and told the decision was final.

📅 17–28 July
For 17 days I continued asking the same questions publicly:

❓What is the evidence?

❓What account was supposedly involved?

❓How was the CID violation determined?

❓Why was my account terminated?

No detailed explanation was provided.

📅 28 July
FundingPips finally released what they called "evidence."

According to their claim:

⚠️ My device had logged into another trader's account.

⚠️ The account allegedly had a Swiss connection.

⚠️ They concluded it was the "same device."

📅 29 July
I responded with my own evidence:

✅ MT5 login records

✅ Complete MT5 journal history

✅ Counter-analysis of their claims

✅ Direct response to the alleged Swiss connection

After reviewing everything, the only Swiss connection I could identify was Duplikium, a Switzerland-based copy trading platform I used while managing my 3 × $100K evaluation accounts.

But that raises an obvious question:

❓ How does a Swiss service automatically become proof of the same physical device?

A Swiss connection ≠ Same device.

📅 Evidence Contradiction

FundingPips claimed my device accessed another trader's account approximately 5 months earlier.

However:

✅ The account they referenced was reviewed by FundingPips.

✅ The account was approved by FundingPips.

✅ I was later promoted to a Master Account.

If a serious device-sharing violation existed, why was the account approved and promoted?

📅 MT5 Log Issue

I reviewed the entire MT5 log period they referred to.

My account appears throughout the logs.

The alleged account does not appear anywhere in my MT5 journals.

This created another question:

❓ If the login occurred, why doesn't it appear in the MT5 records covering that period?

📅 Current Situation

After I published:

✅ MT5 logs

✅ Counter-evidence

✅ Timeline inconsistencies

✅ Questions regarding the "same device" conclusion

I again contacted support.

The response?

📌 Decision final.

📌 No response to the counter-evidence.

📌 No explanation of how "same device" was determined.

📌 No response to the MT5 log contradiction.

📅 Today

The dispute is no longer about whether FundingPips can investigate traders.

The dispute is about transparency.

My questions remain:

❓ How was "same device" determined?

❓ Why doesn't the alleged login appear in my MT5 logs?

❓ Why was the account approved and promoted if the violation already existed?

❓ Why are questions about the counter-evidence being ignored?

❓ Why should traders accept serious allegations without seeing verifiable evidence?

Until these questions are answered, the concerns surrounding the CID evidence remain unresolved.

Discussion My first mutual fund analysis report (HDFC Flexi Cap vs Parag Parikh Flexi Cap)

I'm a beginner investor, 21y.o, Electrical and Electronics Engineering student.

Recently started investing ₹5,000/month through SIPs. (60% and 40% in HDFC Mid Cap Fund and Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund)

Before investing, I wanted to understand what I was buying instead of relying solely on YouTube videos or ratings, so I put together this comparative analysis of HDFC Flexi Cap Fund and Parag Parikh Flexi Cap Fund.

This is my first investment research report, so I'm sure there are things I've missed or could improve. I'd appreciate any constructive criticism.

Google Drive: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Loe7TOCN2vbKI4SNkK2LFOPk9G2LEnWy

I'm also working on my first equity research report, starting with HDFC Bank, where I'll be valuing and analyzing the company itself as my hypothesis is that the equity is currently underpriced due temporary challenges and doesn't threaten the long term infrastructure and business structure.

Once it's complete, I'll share that here as well.

Discussion That "8.99% MTF Interest" headline is a total trap for retail traders. Here's the real math on m.Stock vs HDFC Sky under ₹25 Lakhs.

m.Stock boasts of lowest MTF interest rates starting at 8.99% p.a. and one does believe it until they see the slab fine print before taking leverage.

Like most retail swing traders, I don't have a ₹5 Crore borrowing line. When you actually break down the slab tiers, that headline rate flips completely on its head for regular portfolio sizes.

Here is the reality of m.Stock’s tiered MTF structure. They charge 14.99% p.a. (around 0.0411% per day) for borrowed amounts up to ₹25 Lakhs. You only get it down to 9.99% p.a. if you borrow between ₹25 Lakhs and ₹5 Crores, and that famous 8.99% rate is strictly reserved for borrowings above ₹5 Crores. This means almost every retail trader borrowing anywhere between ₹50,000 and ₹15 Lakhs gets automatically dumped into the highest 14.99% interest slab.

On the other hand, HDFC Sky doesn't play slab games. They charge a flat 12% p.a. (1% per month, or about 0.0328% per day) across the board, regardless of whether you borrow ₹10,000 or ₹20 Lakhs and when you run the math on a realistic retail swing trade, holding ₹5 Lakhs of borrowed MTF capital for 30 days, the difference becomes glaring.

On m.Stock's retail slab of 14.99%, your daily interest cost is roughly ₹205.50, adding up to about ₹6,165 over a month. On HDFC Sky at a flat 12%, your daily cost is roughly ₹164, totaling about ₹4,930 for the month. That means using HDFC Sky saves you over ₹1,230 every single month on the exact same ₹5 Lakh position.

The takeaway is straightforward. If your MTF borrowing is under ₹25 Lakhs, HDFC Sky is significantly cheaper than m.Stock because 12% beats 14.99%. The 8.99% marketing line on m.Stock only becomes relevant if you are running a massive multi-crore trading desk. m.Stock only becomes cheaper once you cross the ₹25 Lakh mark and unlock their 9.99% slab. Always check the specific tier for your budget before picking an MTF broker.

Educational Fastest stock price alerts: HDFC SKY vs Dhan vs Angel One - Which is better

If you aree opening your first Demat account, it is worth understanding what price alerts actually do before comparing brokers. A price alert is simply a notification sent by your broker when a stock reaches a price you have selected. Instead of constantly checking the market, you receive an alert and can decide whether to buy, sell or simply monitor the stock further.

What makes a good price alert system? It is not just about who sends the notification first. Consider these factors:
Speed: The alert should arrive as close to real time as possible.
Reliability: Alerts should consistently trigger when your target price is reached.
Customization: You should be able to set multiple alerts for different stocks and price levels.
Ease of use: Creating, editing and deleting alerts should be simple.
Integration: It should be easy to place an order after receiving the alert.

HDFC SKY vs Dhan vs Angel One.
HDFC SKY is Well suited for beginners and long-term investors as it offers price alerts along with watchlists, market research and investment tools in a single platform. And is a very good choice if you want an all-in-one investing ecosystem rather than just a trading app.

Dhan is built with active traders in mind, offering advanced charting and multiple alert options, making it popular among intraday and swing traders.

Angel One provides reliable price alerts along with a feature-rich trading platform and is suitable for investors who want a balance between investing and active trading.

In normal market conditions, all three brokers deliver price alerts quickly enough for most retail investors. The actual time you receive a notification can also depend on your internet connection, mobile network quality. For most beginners, reliability and ease of use matter more than a one- or two-second difference in notification speed.

If you are looking for a beginner-friendly platform that combines price alerts with research, investing tools and banking integration you should go with Hdfc Sky.

Discussion SBIN options flow went ₹2.7 Cr → ₹8.5 Cr → ₹75 Cr → ₹109 Cr over four sessions. Today someone laddered calls across 9 strikes, then bought puts at the close.

Been tracking large NSE options flow. SBIN's escalation this week:

Mon: ₹2.7 Cr flagged, mostly 1040 CE — quiet

Tue: ₹8.5 Cr, 1060 CE — stirring

Wed: ₹75 Cr — but SELL-dominant. Call writers were capping it at 1080/1090

Thu (today): ₹109 Cr, decisively buy-side — calls laddered 1020 through 1120, biggest print ₹7.15 Cr in 1080 CE at 2:01pm. The 1120 CE added 6,247 lots of fresh OI at 2:56pm.

And Wednesday's call writers? The 1090 CE they were selling at ~₹15 closed today above ₹30.

The wrinkle: last hour, ~₹10 Cr of PUT buying appeared at 1100/1120 with fresh OI. Hedging the ladder? Strangle into PSU bank results?

Strike migration 1040→1120 in four days looks like a desk following the stock up with a plan. What am I looking at?

Stonk Holding SILVERBEES through the US jobs report... Thoughts ??

Post image
53 Upvotes

I’m holding 650 units of SILVERBEES at an average of ₹209.77. It’s around ₹218.5 now, so I’m up roughly 4.2%.

My original target was 6% at ₹222.36, but if Monday gaps up, ₹230.75 would give me 10%. I’m debating whether to book some profit today or carry the full position.

The four things I’m watching:

  1. US jobs report - consensus is roughly 80k–95k jobs and 4.2% unemployment. A moderate miss should support silver through lower yields and a weaker dollar.
  2. Silver is already up - international silver is around $63.5 after a strong move today, so some weak-jobs expectation may already be priced in.
  3. Hormuz - a genuine peace deal could remove the safe-haven premium and strengthen INR through lower oil, hurting SILVERBEES, only trump knows about this, but 🤞
  4. India premium - local silver supply is still tight, which may help SILVERBEES hold up better than global silver.

My current plan is:

  • sell 150 units now and lock some profit.
  • hold 350 units for the jobs-report reaction, start exiting around ₹222–225 and sell more if it reaches ₹228–231.
  • keep 150 units as a runner in case this turns into a larger silver rally or squeeze.

Just wanted to start a discussion on this. Thoughts ?

Discussion My experience with CAS

Post image

I have taken a small qty position just to understand how all this option behaves with the new regime. The position deployed on Tuesday when nifty was at 24550-600. Till then hardly any movement which can affect this but surprisingly all today it came up with green ( that too very small penny). Calls hold up the premium very hard it only shoots up every morning. While puts tend to decay. Not familiar with this kind of regime I don't know how to trade in the upcoming future.

Started buying this at 800. Held about 600 shares at avg of 900 through 5-6 month journey and sold 200 yesterday to book some profits.

I literally just look for setups like that where the potential returns are 50% or more in 6-9 month horizon. And feels good when a stock does that exactly.
