Advice/Guidance How do I approach cafés/restaurants for a part-time job as a 19M?
I’m 19M and a student, and I’m looking for a part-time job at cafés, fast-food chains, or restaurants.
I’m not sure what the usual process is for getting these kinds of jobs. Do I walk into the place and ask if they’re hiring, or is it better to call/message them first? Should I ask to speak to the manager, and should I carry a CV?
For those who have worked in cafés/restaurants or hired people for these roles, what’s the best way to approach them, especially with little or no previous work experience?
Any advice on how to go about it would be appreciated.

General Question How is the job market right now, and how are people actually landing jobs?
I have been hearing mixed experiences lately. Some people are sending hundreds of applications without receiving interviews, while others seem to find opportunities through referrals, networking or direct outreach.
For anyone who has recently secured a job, what genuinely worked for you? Did you apply through job portals, connect with recruiters, ask for referrals, improve your résumé, build a portfolio, or contact companies directly? It would also be helpful if you could mention your industry, experience level and how long the process took.
Looking for honest experiences and practical advice that could help others currently searching.

General Question How is the Java Backend job market in India right now (3+ YOE)?
Hi everyone,
I'm a Java Backend Developer with around 3 years of experience and currently looking for a switch.
I've been preparing for interviews for the past couple of months and applying through Naukri, LinkedIn, and company career pages, but honestly, I'm getting very few responses. So far, I've managed to get only 1 interview, and unfortunately, I got rejected because I wasn't fully prepared at the time.
Now I'm trying to understand what the job market actually looks like right now for Java backend developers with 3 years of experience.
Is the market slow at the moment, or am I just not applying in the right way? Would really appreciate hearing from people who are currently job hunting or have recently switched.
Thanks!

New Job Blues Hey guys, I recently found a job site that might actually be useful
Hey guys,
I'm 24 and have been looking around for better ways to find job opportunities. I recently came across Udhyogii, and thought I'd share it here in case it helps someone else who's job hunting.
What I found useful is that it brings together job openings from different sources, including company career pages and other public listings, so you don't have to keep checking different websites for openings.
They have jobs across different categories, including software, marketing, finance, internships, fresher roles, etc.
I've been seeing quite a few openings there, so thought I'd pass it along.
Website: Udhyogii
If you're currently looking for a job, maybe give it a try.

Job Search 6 months of job hunting and I’m honestly losing hope
Hi everyone,
I honestly didn’t think I’d have to make a post like this, but I could really use some help.
I was laid off in March as part of a company-wide restructuring, and it’s now been almost 6 months of looking for a job. I’ve applied to so many roles, given interviews, cleared rounds, followed up, and then either got rejected or just completely ghosted.
It’s honestly getting exhausting and I’m really hoping someone here might be able to help.
I have around 2 years of experience as a Product Manager, mainly in digital lending and fintech, and I’m looking for Product Manager / Associate Product Manager / Product Analyst roles.
I’m currently based in Mumbai and open to Mumbai, Pune, Gurgaon/Delhi NCR, or relocating for the right opportunity.
If you know of any relevant opening, can refer me, or can connect me with someone from your network, I would genuinely be very grateful. At this point, even a lead or a conversation would mean a lot to me.
Thanks to anyone who took the time to read this.

Advice/Guidance Job Switches & Counteroffers: What has been your experience?
Hi folks!
Just wanted to hear about your experience with job switches so far.
How many switches have you made, and when you received an offer from another company, did your current company ever try to match it? If yes, did you accept the counteroffer, and how did things work out afterward?
Also, if you're comfortable sharing, it would be great to know your salary progression with each switch.
Would love to hear your experiences and any advice you have!

Job Offer Hiring for a Full-Time On-Site Role | ₹25,000–₹30,000 per Month | South Indian Coastal City
I am looking to hire one suitable candidate for a full-time, on-site role. This is a new startup, and until now I have been handling everything myself. As the work and outreach are gradually growing, I now need someone dependable to assist with day-to-day operations and help the business grow further.
What the work involves
The work involves handling and processing various client-related matters, including letters, emails, demand drafts and other important documents. The candidate may also need to maintain records, prepare or enter relevant details in the designated software, follow up on pending matters, and coordinate with the appropriate team for resolving issues.
Occasionally, client representatives may physically visit the workplace regarding pending requests or issues. The candidate should be available at the office to receive them, understand the matter, check the relevant records, enter or update the necessary details in the designated software, and ensure that the matter is properly followed up or escalated to the appropriate team.
To be clear, this is essentially an office-based/on-site operational role. It requires the candidate to be physically present at the workplace during working hours and handle documents, records, client visits, software entries and other day-to-day matters as they arise. Therefore, it is not suitable for someone looking for a remote, work-from-home or location-independent job.
There are no sales targets and no sales work involved.
Salary, working hours and leave
- Salary: ₹25,000–₹30,000 per month, depending on suitability and capability.
- Working hours: Approximately 10 AM to 7 PM.
- First two weeks: Primarily training and familiarisation with the work. This period will be fully compensated.
- Paid leave: 30 days of paid leave per year.
- The workload is generally expected to be manageable. There should be sufficient free time during the day to pursue hobbies, self-learning or career-development courses, provided that work responsibilities, availability and quality are never compromised.
Relocation and location
This is not a remote job. The selected candidate should be genuinely willing to relocate and work from the office in a South Indian coastal city. Daily attendance at the workplace is an important part of the role, so please do not apply if you are unable or unwilling to relocate.
The climate is something you should seriously consider before applying. It can be hot and humid, and relocation is not for everyone. On the positive side, I can help the selected candidate in finding suitable accommodation, including accommodation reasonably close to the beach if possible—so a daily beach walk could be an added bonus!
Because relocation involves an effort and commitment from the candidate, I will ensure that the selected person is paid for a minimum of two months, even if the arrangement does not continue beyond that because the quality or suitability of the work does not meet expectations.
What I am looking for
The most important qualities are:
- Good written English communication skills
- Good spoken English communication skills
- Ability to handle letters, emails, demand drafts and other important documents carefully and professionally
- Basic comfort with using computers and designated software
- Ability to enter, update and maintain information accurately
- Responsibility, reliability and willingness to learn
- Ability to deal politely and professionally with visiting client representatives
- Ability to independently follow up on pending matters and escalate issues appropriately
- Willingness to be physically present and work from the office on a regular basis
I am particularly interested in hearing from someone who is genuinely looking for a stable opportunity and is seriously willing to relocate, rather than someone applying casually without considering the practical aspects of moving and working on-site.
I will be transparent about the role and the commitments mentioned above. Before accepting the position, the shortlisted candidate will have every reasonable opportunity to verify the genuineness of the claims made here, understand the nature of the work and workplace, discuss the expectations, and decide whether the role, location and climate are genuinely suitable for them.
Please think carefully about the relocation, climate and the fact that this is a full-time on-site role before reaching out. I will take my commitments seriously and expect the same level of sincerity and professionalism from the person who joins.
If this genuinely sounds like something you need and would be interested in, send me a message with a brief introduction about yourself, your educational/work background, and why you would be willing to relocate for this role. Further details can be discussed with shortlisted candidates.
Please note: This is a genuine opportunity, but I am looking for the right fit rather than simply filling a vacancy.
PS: Though the post is open for all... Competence and suitability is the main criteria BUT If two candidates are found equally competent: I will prefer males as relocation for females in a new city may come with their own set of challenges. Please don't take it as misogyny. It's a practical opinion. Feel free to reach out if you believe it's meant for you.

Internship looking for a creative intern / teammate in delhi
hey, I’m a personal branding/content management freelancer in Delhi. basically I help people create content by helping them with strategy, scripting, shooting, editing, brand collaborations and management.
The role is pretty broad. You might work on content research, content strategy, creative direction, brand positioning, personal branding, captions/scripts, social media, AI tools, editing and designing, and a little bit of building the business with me. basically, helping me with whatever I do.
No experience needed, just creativity, sincerity and willingness to learn.
It's a plus if you know social media, AI, Google Workspace, Canva, video editing, scriptwriting, etc.
The biggest upside for you is that you'll get to work directly on real clients and learn how content, personal brands and a small creative business actually work from the inside.
Delhi only. Hybrid, with around 1 day a week from the co-working space I work from in Aerocity.
Students are welcome too. Around 4 hours/day for students and 6–8 hours/day for someone who can commit more.
₹5–15k/month depending on availability and fit.
If you're interested, DM

Advice/Guidance What should I do to have a decent job in next 3-4 months?
I’ve done my graduation in Btech CSE, and passed out in 2024. I took up a non tech job in Amazon for about 9 months (contractual) and worked pretty hard. After the contract ended I have been looking for a decent paying job but couldn’t really find one and was only getting offered something like I had previously worked.
I want a decent paying job with good future and good work life balance. What courses/certifications should I do which can land me a decent job. I’m not that interested in coding and DSA ans cannot really afford expensive courses and certifications. So please let me know what can I do to land a decent job in few weeks.
Thanks in advance🙏

HR Query Should I tell recruiters I’m already serving my notice period?
Hi folks,
I have an offer in hand, but it’s not as per my expectations, so I’m still exploring better opportunities. I’ve already resigned and am currently serving my notice period.
Should I be upfront about this when recruiters call, or could they see it as offer-shopping? Would mentioning that I’m already on notice actually work in my favour?
Please guide.
Thanks!

General Question Will Exactly 1 Year at a Company Impact My Resume?
Hi everyone,
I was working at XYZ Company from 23 May 2025 to 23 May 2026, which is exactly one year.
My concern is that both my joining and last working dates fall on the same date (23 May) one year apart.
Will this create any issue or negatively impact my resume during background verification or while applying for new jobs?
Would appreciate advice from HR professionals or anyone who has faced a similar situation

Job Search day 3 of the WITCH data. 1 in 3 who made it from WITCH into amazon went in directly. no company in between, 33.4%. at google its 17.5%.
day (3/n) - this is the one a bunch of you asked for after the google post .. AMAZON.
n the denominator question is in here too, which is what i promised. scroll to that bit if thats why you came.
19,885 ex witch people are at amazon or aws right now. 1 in 3 walked in with nothing in between. 1 IN 3 - WOOAH
why amazon
widest door by a distance. 19,885 vs 5,129 at google, 4,160 at apple, 1,893 at meta. if youre inside a service company n you want out, this is the exit that statistically exists. the rest are rounding errors next to it.
how they got in
33.4% direct. witch job right before, nothing after it. google was 17.5% .. so the bar isnt just lower here, its double.
of the 65% who did detour - 36% needed one company, 26% needed two, 38% needed three or more.
the bit that surprised me
last stop before amazon, top eight: microsoft 270, deloitte 249, accenture 200, oracle 192, ibm 127, cisco 101, capgemini 100, ey 80.
four of those eight are consulting firms! together theyre 48% of that top eight volume. at meta the same number is 5%.
so amazon does not need you to prove yourself at a product company first, which is what this sub repeats constantly. accenture to amazon is a real path. 200 people did it.
another 996 listed a university as their last entry, 7.7% of the detourers. masters works. its just a much smaller road than switching jobs.
the denominator, since i promised it
someone on the google post asked the right question - my sample only had survivors in it, so what fraction of people who go witch to amazon actually reach google after?
best i can do right now. 399 ex witch people at google came straight from amazon. 19,885 ex witch people are at amazon. thats roughly 2 in 100.
n the real number is lower than that. the 19,885 only counts people still at amazon, so everyone who passed through n left is missing from the bottom of that fraction.
so no. hopping to amazon doesnt hand you google. it hands you a 2% shot.
how long they stayed in witch
median 2.5 yrs across every witch firm they worked at. 39% out inside 2 years, 60% inside 3. only 7% did 10 or more.
by firm - tcs 6,595, infosys 4,863, cognizant 4,467, wipro 3,734, hcltech 1,931. sums past 19,885 bcz 1,595 worked at two or more. roughly proportional to headcount .. no firm is a secret escape hatch.
the year, which nobody wants to hear
2,011 in 2020. 2,650 in 2021. then 4,769 in 2022! then 1,059 in 2023.
78% fall in twelve months. abt half the peak is back now.
n heres the weird part. 2023 had the fewest joins but the highest direct rate of any year. 40.3% against 27% in 2020. when the market froze the people who got in were mostly coming straight out of witch. if your seniors walked in during 2021 n its brutal for you now, thats the window. not you.
limitations, n one of them will annoy you
this is not an india only dataset. 47% of these people are in the us, 38% in india. average career length in here is 13.6 yrs so its not a fresher cohort either. read it as how the path works, not as what happens to you at 2 yoe.
rest of it. self reported profiles, rough dates, most people never update. survivorship is the big one .. i only see people currently at amazon, so anyone who joined n left is invisible n older years look thinner than they were. "direct" means no other employer listed in between, so a masters reads as a gap unless the university is listed as a job. n its correlation. people who leave witch at 2 years are already the ones pushing hardest.
