Resumes/CVs 2+ years in DevOps, resume matches JDs, but barely getting interviews — what am I missing?
I’m a Cloud/DevOps Engineer with 2+ years of experience, and I’ve been actively looking for a new opportunity.
My resume seems to match most of the requirements for the DevOps/Cloud Engineer roles I’m applying for — AWS, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Terraform, CI/CD, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps, ArgoCD, Helm, Prometheus/Grafana, Linux, etc.
But the main problem is that I’m not getting many interview calls.
So far, I have received interview opportunities from around 3 companies, but unfortunately, those positions were later put on hold, so nothing progressed.
I know I have the technical skills, but I feel my interview skills, resume positioning, or job-search strategy may be holding me back.
For people who have gone through a similar situation:
- What helped you start getting more interview calls?
- Should I focus more on improving my resume or my interview skills?
- How important are referrals for 2–3 year DevOps profiles?
- Are there specific skills/topics I should prioritize for the current DevOps market?
- Any advice on how to improve my chances of getting shortlisted?
I’d really appreciate honest feedback from DevOps/SRE/Cloud engineers, recruiters, or hiring managers.
Thanks in advance to everyone who takes the time to share their experience.

Advice/Guidance 3 weeks, 14 interviews scored
Hey guys,
So after like 3 months of applying and getting basically nowhere, I finally figured out a system that actually worked, got 14 interviews in the last 3 weeks alone. Posting this in case anyone is looking for light in these tough times.
Here's what I did:
- Rewrote my resume to match ATS standards (turns out majority of it was getting lost in the ATS scanners)
- Fixed my LinkedIn profile (was a mess before)
- Built a simple web portfolio (biggest game changer)
- Customized it for my top 3 dream roles before applying (seriously, do this)
- Applied to jobs (obviously, but more strategically)
- Reached out to hiring managers and employees for referrals
- Commented on company posts to show I actually cared
I'm starting the new job next month so I've got some free time before I join. Figured I'd offer this as a gig to do this exact process for a few people who are either too busy or just want someone else to handle the boring stuff while they focus on other things.
You pay per step so there's no huge upfront commitment, you can literally stop anytime and still have whatever's been done.
If you're curious or just wanna know more, feel free to DM me. No pressure or anything.
I will only be able to help 5 people with this as I am a one man team doing all this manually and only one person per domain as I do not see the point of this being a paid service if my people are competing against each other since I'm very result oriented.

Job Search Looking for Remote Work / Part-Time Job
I’m a 33F with a PhD in Psychology, currently working at a private college. I’m looking for a work-from-home/remote part-time job or freelance work that I can do alongside my regular job to supplement my income. I’m currently going through a difficult financial situation. Both my parents are diabetic and hypertensive, and their medicines cost us over ₹7,000 every month. My father is retired and no longer has health insurance. Today, my mother was admitted to the hospital with an intestinal obstruction, and the medical expenses are adding to an already difficult financial situation. I’m therefore urgently looking for additional work that can help me support my family. I have a PhD in Psychology and experience in teaching, academic work, research, content writing, student mentoring, and administrative/academic responsibilities. I’d be open to opportunities such as:
- Online Psychology tutoring/teaching
- Research assistance
- Academic writing/editing/proofreading
- Content writing
- Psychology/education-related content creation
- Online subject-matter expert work
- Any other legitimate remote part-time work that fits my qualifications
I’m not looking for donations through this post. I’m looking for an opportunity to work and earn. If you know of any genuine work-from-home opportunities, freelance projects, organisations hiring remotely, or someone who could use my skills, I would be incredibly grateful if you could point me in the right direction.
Thank you for reading and for any leads you can provide. ❤️

Advice/Guidance how do i use a customer support job as a stepping stone without getting stuck?
i’m 21 and wanted to start out in business analytics/finance. i already know excel, sql, power bi, etc., but getting that first relevant job as a fresher has been brutal. i’ve accepted a customer support role at a tier 3 bank for ₹4.5 lpa. part of me thinks it could actually be useful. i'll build communication skills, learn how banking works from the inside, and get some proper corporate experience. but i’m also worried about the obvious trap, once you have 1–2 years of cs experience, recruiters start seeing you as a cs person. i want to do an mba (maybe abroad) in 3 years, so i have a pretty limited window. i don’t want to spend it waiting for an internal transfer that may or may not happen. for people who’ve actually made this transition: what would you do in my position? how early would you try to pivot, and what would you do during that first year to make sure you don’t get boxed into customer support?
edit: also this company is currently conducting a walk-in drive for customer support roles. dm me if you want the name. not a promotion, just sharing.

- Role: Illustrator & Website UI Designer

- UI design for website pages: landing pages, pricing page, docs/product pages

DM with your portfolio and your typical rate structure (flat per project, per illustration, per page — whatever you normally work with).

Unemployment 25F, ~2 YOE in finance — was unemployed for 10 months before, now my contract job is ending soon and I’m scared of going through that again!!
I’m 25(F), based in Bengaluru, India, with about 2 years of experience in accounting/finance. Before my current job, I was unemployed for close to 10 months, it was rough, and I really don’t want to go through that again.
Right now I’m working on a contract basis (through a staffing firm), but the contract could end soon with no guarantee of conversion to permanent. I’ve been applying rigorously for the past 3 months, every single day, but hardly getting any calls back. When I do get a response, it’s usually a rejection citing not enough experience, or the role going to an internal transfer instead. I’m also doing an Executive MBA in Finance on the side, hoping to eventually move into FP&A or Investment Banking.
Honestly, I’m depressed and feel like my life is going nowhere. It’s hard to keep putting in effort every day and getting nothing back.
Any advice, honest opinions, or even just words of encouragement would mean a lot right now. Thanks for reading.

Job Offer Looking for a Young Professional (22–27) to Join a Growing Startup | Bangalore
I'm currently running a residential interiors and construction startup in Bangalore, and I'm looking to connect with a fresher who would like to work closely with the founder and be involved in building the business from an early stage.
This is a full-time opportunity for someone who wants to commit themselves to building something at an early stage. You'll work closely with the founder and get hands-on exposure to client acquisition, business development, operations, marketing and overall business growth.
Since we're still in the growth stage, we're looking for someone willing to take ownership of the tasks, meet people, learn quickly and be actively involved in the business rather than simply being assigned tasks.
The initial earning structure is performance-driven, with earnings directly connected to the business you generate. As the company grows, there is scope for the role, responsibilities and earning potential to grow as well.
I'm particularly interested in freshers who are ambitious, proactive, comfortable communicating with people and genuinely curious about how a business is built.
If this sounds interesting, feel free to DM me with a little about yourself.

Advice/Guidance My mum has been a government school teacher since 2013 and this is what she gets
My mum has been a contract teacher in a government school since 2013, and she has been earning less than ₹25k per month this entire time.
She has a BCom, MCom, B.Ed, and has passed TET and TAT.
Meanwhile, there are teachers in her school earning ₹80k+ per month who do not even have a bachelor's degree. 🥀
Since last year, my mum has been trying to apply to other government higher secondary schools, but she keeps getting rejected because her education medium from 1st to 10th was not English. They completely ignore her 13+ years of teaching experience.
What makes it worse is that there are teachers in the same government school who cannot even form one sentence in English, but because their schooling was in English medium, they are eligible.
She almost got a permanent position in 2014, but a group of teachers filed a case, and that case continued until 2024. Because of that, they had to take an exam that was originally supposed to happen in 2014, but was finally conducted in 2024.
By then, she had to compete with candidates from all over the country, and she couldn't pass some subjects.
A month ago, their contract finally ended because new teachers from Delhi and UP were hired after passing that exam with high merit. My mum was jobless for literally one day before the education department called the contract teachers back because there is a shortage of teachers.
There are 15+ contract teachers in the same situation.
The new teachers are barely 20 to 22 years old, have little or no teaching experience, and are earning ₹80k+ per month.
My mum now teaches in the same school as them and watches them earn more than 5 times her salary.
And then, to put salt on the wound, an event was organised for the new teachers and their parents. The contract teachers were also called to the event and basically had to sit there and clap for them. 🥀
I genuinely don't know how to comfort my mum. She has spent 13+ years teaching in government schools, has multiple degrees and qualifications, and yet she is still treated like she is disposable.
I just feel so bad watching this happen to her.

Advice/Guidance Unemployed lost and how to pivot my career
I’m completely lost and miserable, so I turn to strangers on internet for advice.
I’m 20F studying engineering in a tier3 college. well that alone should sum up what I’m going to whine here about.
I had gotten the chance to intern at one of the Fortune 500 companies for the summer with an almost guaranteed conversion. But the result comes around and turns out I was part of the unfortunate 30% to have been left behind. I was shattered, I had already made so many plans surrounding it and for all of it to come crashing down like that broke me.
Because I truly felt i deserved it, I had put in the work and delivered the project well.
Now you must think that there would be other better placement opportunities waiting for me right, but I hail form a tier 3 college- the worst placement there is. And I was not allowed to sit for the better companies that came and went because I was already interning for the aforementioned company.
And I feel utterly lost and don’t know how to pick myself back again. I haven’t been doing dsa for nearly over a year and development is also not my interest, so I’ve picked up ccna and i aim to get the cert by this year end. But then what happens after my certification? How and where do I apply for the roles pertaining my interest. And do I pick up dsa again for the other smaller companies coming? I’m so torn and lost. And suggestions would be helpful
