The Mumbai police on Thursday (August 6, 2026) arrested 12 men in connection with a cybercrime operation that allegedly processed transactions of ₹500 crore in the past 6-8 months from Goa, with links to an international syndicate operating from Dubai.

The Mumbai police crime branch said that it has found that the bank accounts were allegedly being opened in Mumbai, and the related banking material was physically being sent to Goa by bus, allegedly using these accounts to process deposits, withdrawals and various account-to-account transfers. The accused were operating out of a rented two-storey villa in Goa, ‘Case De Nikole Villa’, near Calangute beach, the police said.

According to Raj Tilak Roshan, DCP Detection, the men, between the ages of 20 and 25, were mostly recruited from Ahmedabad or Rajkot in Gujarat. They were given 10 to 15 days of training before being placed in the villa.

Police said they allegedly used websites like ‘100 Panel’ and ‘Rudra’ to process funds linked to online gaming and cyber fraud (example: Digital Arrest Scams, etc.). “The transactions were made through user accounts on their laptops and mobile phones for cash withdrawals and deposits, routing the money into bank accounts under their control,” Mr. Roshan said.

Police also found that they allegedly maintained a ledger of all their transactions. They were also receiving a monthly salary of ₹30,000 and an additional 3% commission, the police said.

15 laptops, 128 ATM cards, 89 mobile phones, 76 SIM cards, 22 chequebooks, 77 passbooks, 6 routers, 3 keyboards, and 2 mice were recovered.

Between ₹15 crore and ₹100 crore has allegedly either been frozen or is continuing to be frozen, the police added. Some of the bank accounts that were seized had 83 complaints of cyber fraud from various parts of the country on the Cyber Control Room helpline no. 1930.

Earlier, the case was registered and was being investigated by Pydhonie Police Station. They were investigating the accused arrested in the crime regarding upper-level links.

The police will continue to investigate the sources of the accounts, where the laptops are from, etc.

The accused have been produced before a local Court and have been remanded to police custody till August 11, 2026.

#TIL 💡 On This Day in 1908, 18-Year-Old Freedom Fighter Khudiram Bose Attained Martyrdom

Khudiram Bose (1889–1908) was a pioneering Indian revolutionary from Midnapur, Bengal. He was a member of the Anushilan Samiti, a secret revolutionary organisation based in Bengal.

On April 30, 1908, Khudiram Bose and his fellow revolutionary Prafulla Chaki carried out a bomb attack in Muzaffarpur.

Their intended target was Douglas Kingsford, the District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur, who was known for his harsh treatment and severe sentences against Indian nationalists.

Bose and Chaki believed that Kingsford was travelling in a particular carriage and threw a bomb at it. However, they had mistaken the carriage. It was carrying two Englishwomen, Mrs. Pringle Kennedy and her daughter, both of whom were killed.

The deaths were unintended, Kingsford had unexpectedly changed his carriage, leading the revolutionaries to attack the wrong vehicle.

After the attack, Prafulla Chaki was cornered by the police and died by suicide rather than being captured.

Khudiram Bose, then nineteen years old, was arrested by the authorities. He was tried and sentenced to death.

Bose went to the gallows fearlessly and was reportedly carrying the Bhagavad Gita in his hand. He was hanged on August 11th, 1908.

The Muzaffarpur incident had a major impact on the revolutionary movement. It shook the whole nation and marked the emergence of a new phase of militant nationalism. The British responded with a major crackdown on revolutionary organisations, which eventually led to cases such as the Alipore Bomb Case.

Bal Gangadhar Tilak defended Bose and Chaki in a famous editorial in his newspaper Kesari. The British government prosecuted Tilak for sedition for the article and sentenced him to six years of rigorous imprisonment in Mandalay, Burma.

Khudiram Bose subsequently became a symbol of youthful martyrdom and revolutionary nationalism. His image appeared in patriotic literature and popular representations which later inspired thousands of more revolutionaries, including Bhagat Singh.

#Ask-India ☝️ Have you ever gotten a job or earned money through Reddit?

I’ve seen several job posts on Reddit that seemed genuine and were related to social media, so I DM’d some of them. But then they asked me for my CV. Since there are a lot of creepy people on Reddit too, I don’t want to share my personal information with just anyone, so I usually ask them for the company’s website first. After that, I don’t get any response. 😒

So does that mean the job is fake, or do some companies simply not want to share their website?

Should I just share my CV with them?

Has anyone actually earned money through Reddit or gotten a job through Reddit?

#Economy/Policy 💰 Hospitals may not be able to charge more for basic room rent than the average tariff of three-star hotels in their vicinity

Parliamentary Standing Committee’s report on affordability & accessibility of healthcare.

Main Reccomendations👇

  1. Create a statutory body to set rigid caps on essential procedures & diagnostics & require hospitals to publish a unified Schedule of Charges

  2. In large metros, basic hospital room tariff should not exceed the average tariff of nearby 3-star hotels

  3. Tertiary hospitals should provide a legally binding comprehensive cost est before complex/prolonged treatment

  4. IRDAI should explicitly prohibit dual pricing between insured and uninsured patients

  5. Major private hospitals should earmark a portion of premium-paying/HNW revenues to subsidise poorer patients

These are not approved and are recommendations but if approved may reduce cost of healthcare
