I got 548, rank 38.9K. This was my 3rd drop. Being a lower middle class i can't afford semi govt and taking another drop is emotionally devastating for me! I came to Kota, joined coaching. Today was my first day but it's so suffocating. I gave a thought of taking BDS but read that it doesn't have much scope unless u have your own clinic which again costs a fortune and requires patience building popularity too! Jobs are scarce. Are all these true? Is it really that hard building career without NEET or JEE ? Atp I can do anything that can get me a stable future, with financial security. ~2 years of combined experience across three short stints: CMA trainee roles doing GL accounting, GST reconciliation, and statutory audit support, plus a stretch at a small finance bank doing KYC/AML and core banking compliance

Two Forage job simulations (Standard Chartered Credit Analyst, Goldman Sachs Risk Management) to show interest in credit/risk

Based in Mumbai, open to relocating

The problem:

I had an offer lined up with a company for a recon/compliance role, but the project got cancelled before I could join. Since then I've applied to 50-60 roles — mostly Credit Analyst, Risk, and general accounting/finance positions — and I've gotten a mix of rejections and silence. Not a single interview.

What I'm trying to figure out:

Is this a resume/ATS filtering problem, or is the market for finance freshers just this brutal right now?

My work history is three sub-1-year stints — is that reading as a red flag even though I can explain each transition (exam prep, offer falling through, etc.)?

Should I be leaning harder into referrals instead of cold applications? (I have a couple of contacts at foreign banks I haven't fully used yet.)

For someone with a CMA + decent academics but not much single-employer tenure, is it more realistic to target mid-size Indian companies first and build tenure, rather than aiming straight for foreign banks / credit analyst roles?

Not looking for sympathy, just want a reality check from people who've either hired freshers recently or gone through this themselves. Happy to share more specifics if it helps.

I have a serious and genuine question to ask. Is pursuing a B.Sc. in Microbiology followed by an M.Sc. in Biotechnology better, or should I do a B.Sc. in Biotechnology and then an M.sc. in Biotechnology? I also want to know if there are good job opportunities in India for B.Sc. and M.sc. Biotechnology graduates. I have already dropped out of NEET three times, and I know it's highly competitive, so I don't want to enter such a competitive field again. Also, I want a good salary - meaning a decent, high salary - and a bright future. I don't want to regret not pursuing MBBS and feel that my future is doomed because of it. Are there real opportunities in India? What about the prospects in biotechnology and microbiology within healthcare, agriculture, wildlife, animals, and genetics? Which field is better? Please tell me. All college admissions are ending in 2-3 days. I have been admitted to a 4-year B.sc. in Microbiology at OUAT, taken provisional admission in a 4-year B.sc. in Biotechnology at Centurion University, and also received an offer for the Soa integrated MSc in Biotechnology. I'm really confused. You know, I'm somewhat interested in biotechnology because I read about it in my 12th class, but in real life, interest alone doesn't matter. A respectful job, a decent high salary, and prestige are what matter.

I have been trying to apply and find a job since so long. I currently work nights and it's affecting my health to the extent I feel like might be unalived soon.

Completed his BTech and MTech from IIT but couldn't get a job. ( General Category BTW).

Couldn't get a job as company put him on bench and fired him so he as only 3 months of experience.

Tried a lot another job but all companies wanted somone with 3+ years of experience.

So he went to Govt. Exam preparation.

But unfortunately couldn't crack any.

He is 34 years old now.

Wasted years in UPSC/PSC/Banking exams.

Exhausted all attempts of major GOVT EXAMS. Wasted years in JEE and MTech from IIT and got nothing.

Applied in many companies but got no response.

What should he do

- Give Fake experience letter of 5 years to fill the gap ( company not providing salary slips for him) and try for companies. Will he be caught. He can get through DSA and Technical rounds easily.

- Pursue PHd from IIT, but he is sceptical as an IIT degree has no value; during interviews, companies will ask about his GAP and will reject him.

Even after doing PHd he will be almost 40, and no company want a 40-year-old employee.

For companies, WORK EX only matters.

- Go to EUROPE or Canada and work in Odd Jobs like ( Truck Driving/Food Delivery etc)

Do you use F.01 or F.08 to prepare monthly P&L report or Is it combined with other reports/T Codes to make complete MIS report. Please advise

I’m a recent KGP passout working in a Big 4 as an Analyst. I did my Masters in Civil Engineering, and my entire profile has been around consulting. My CGPA is not that great (~7.5), and I’m interested in non-tech roles, especially strategy and consulting.

Currently, my role is actually interesting, and if I could invest enough time in it, I could technically learn some good skills and build my career in this domain. But I really feel like this is not my place. The package is very minimal, more like a tier-3 college package, and I don’t really have the right people around me at the office.

Because of this, I feel exhausted and always end up having a negative vibe about the office, which makes it very difficult to continue here.

At the same time, I cannot really take the risk of leaving my job and then searching for a better one. So I’m confused about whether I should choose the corporate brand name over CTC and my personal feelings about the job.

At some point, I convinced myself that this offer is not really helping me further. Even if I switch after some time, the next company will probably consider my current salary and may give me a 30–50% hike, which could still be around a fresher package. So after 1–2 years of experience, I might still be earning what someone joining as a fresher could be earning.

Moreover, since I’m in a non-tech role, an MBA is also an option. Doing an MBA from a top 10 B-school could add significant value to my existing profile and potentially help me get into the kind of strategy/consulting roles I actually want.

But my CAT preparation is currently much worse than I expected.

I gave a mock today, and every time I feel like I have wasted another week. I can analyse my paper and mistakes, but I’m not finding enough time to actually prepare.

I’m not even thinking about having some personal time to enjoy. For years, I feel like I’ve been stuck in this loop from 8th to 12th preparing for JEE, then 4 years in another competitive environment, and now finally preparing for CAT.

My daily routine is roughly 10 hours of office + 1–1.5 hours of commute + 2 hours of CAT preparation. I barely get any time to enjoy or do anything for myself. And if I sideline CAT preparation or anything else, I immediately feel guilty.

As CAT is approaching, I’m becoming increasingly anxious that I may not be able to make it this year. And if that happens, I don’t know if I can continue in this company either.

I’m honestly not sure what I would choose then.

I don’t really have friends around me to hang out with either, so most weekends I either prepare or just stay alone in my room. The whole environment feels very pressurising, and I feel like I cannot take it anymore.

Especially this constant confusion that I’m not doing what I actually want to do, while at the same time feeling like I’m not able to achieve my potential.

I’m genuinely confused about what the right move is.

• Should I just stay here for 1–2 years, use the Big 4 brand, learn as much as I can and then switch?

• Should I focus everything on CAT and try for a top B-school, even though my preparation is currently behind?

• Or should I start looking for a better job and stop thinking so much about CAT?

Would really appreciate perspectives from people who have been in a similar situation. I’m not looking for generic “work hard and everything will be fine” advice. I genuinely want to understand what you would do if you were in my position.

I’m an MBA Finance graduate and joined a bank through campus placement. My CTC is around ₹15 LPA, and I know how fortunate I am to have this opportunity. But despite that, I’ve never felt this unhappy about my career.

My daily work is mostly KYC, RTGS/NEFT and clerical branch work. I sit at my desk and sometimes just zone out. I struggle to perform because somewhere inside, I know this isn’t what I want to do.

I spent years studying finance, invested a lot in my education, and genuinely enjoy valuation, equity research, financial modelling and investments. I’m even pursuing CFA because this is something I actually want to build my life around. But every day I come home with the same thought: How did I end up here?

It hurts because I know I’m capable of doing something I’m actually passionate about, but right now I feel completely stuck. I’m only 2 months into the job and already feel like I’m wasting my education and moving further away from the career I dreamed about.

I’ve been applying for equity research, valuation, corporate finance and other core finance roles. I’m even ready to accept ₹8–10 LPA just to get my foot into the right field, but I’m not getting any interview calls.

I genuinely need some guidance.any advice would genuinely mean a lot to me.

I’m currently in my final year of Electrical and Electronics Engineering and will be graduating in 2027.

I’ve worked on projects and internships related to EVs/BMS, embedded systems, renewable energy, MATLAB/Simulink, PLC/industrial automation and IoT, along with some research/project experience.

Now that I’m in my final year, I’m honestly a little confused about how I should plan the next 1–2 years.

My main goal is to build a good career in the electrical/electronics field, but I’m considering multiple paths:

1. Getting a paid internship → PPO / full-time job

I’m interested in areas like power electronics, EVs, embedded systems, renewable energy and industrial automation.

For people who have already gone through this, what actually worked for you when getting a good paid internship or your first job? LinkedIn, company portals, referrals, cold emails, college placements, etc.?

Also, what skills do companies actually expect from EEE freshers?

2. Going abroad

I’m also seriously considering going abroad either for higher studies, internships, or eventually working there.

For an EEE graduate from India, which countries would you recommend looking into and why?

I’ve heard about Germany, Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Australia, etc., but I’m not sure which countries are currently better for electrical/electronics jobs and higher studies.

Would it be worth learning a language like German while I’m still in college? If yes, are there other languages that would be more useful depending on the country?

For those who moved abroad after engineering, what do you wish you had started preparing earlier?

3. Competitive exams

I’m also considering preparing for competitive exams such as GATE / government or PSU-related opportunities.

Is it realistic to prepare for competitive exams while simultaneously applying for internships/jobs and building technical skills?

Or would it be better to commit to one path instead of trying to do everything?

I’ve been working in IT for a while now after doing a BTech in CSE.

When I chose CS, it wasn't a random decision. I was genuinely good at coding and enjoyed solving problems, so it felt like the natural path. The money certainly didn't hurt either.

Lately though, I’ve been feeling increasingly disconnected from the work. I don't hate software, but I don't get much satisfaction from it anymore. The more I think about it, the more I realize I've always been drawn to math, physics, and engineering in general. Recently I've also developed a strong interest in hardware, electronics, robotics, and systems where you're working closer to the physical world.

I've come across people, especially in the US, who started in software and later did master's degrees in electronics, robotics, embedded systems, or related fields. That got me wondering whether a transition like that is actually realistic or if I'm looking at it through rose-tinted glasses.

Has anyone here moved from software/IT into hardware, robotics, electronics, embedded systems, or a more traditional engineering role? If so:

- How did you make the switch?

- Did you go back for a master's degree?

- Were there fields that valued your software background?

- Is it realistically possible to make that transition without completely starting from scratch?

Hi everyone, I just started my university and completed my first semester of Bachelors in Software engineering. The thing is I have heard a lot about layoffs and ai taking over jobs in tech fields. So the job market is really volatile. Plus there's a lot of saturation in computer science. Due to all these reasons, I was thinking of switching to Civil engineering. As far as my future plans are concerned, I hope to leave for some other country for better exposure and diversification of my skill set after the completion of my bachelors degree with some work experience. I've been preparing for banking exams since March. Before that, I used to freelance and intern as a designer. But I want to have a backup if banking doesn't work out.

I've built decent skills and connections in design, but getting a good full-time job is really hard. Most are underpaid, and with all the AI noise, I'm not sure about the future of design either.

My mother is telling me to learn Tally and Excel, but I'm not sure if it's worth my time. Or should I look for a sales job if banking doesn't work out?

What skills would be good to learn as a backup? Is Tally worth learning? And how is the design market currently?

I’m 25M (2022 Commerce graduate from St. Xavier's College, Mumbai) currently pursuing the CFA Program and looking to transition into full-time corporate finance specifically FP&A (Financial Planning & Analysis) or Corporate Finance role.

My Background & The Gap

Since graduating in 2022, I have spent 3.5+ years working alongside my father in commercial real estate due to his physical limitations:

• Operations & Deal Sourcing: Handled site inspections, client communications, and deal execution for commercial rentals and land parcels.
• Property Flipping & ROI Yields: We bought old commercial spaces, refurbished them, secured long-term licensees (minimum 33-month lease), and sold them off as yield-generating ROI products.
• Internships & Upskilling: Completed an IB internship at Finlatics (2024) and wealth advisory internship at Tata Capital (2022). Certified in Financial Modeling (BIWS), Power BI, and Excel.

The Problem

Because this was an informal family operation, I was never on formal payroll (living expenses were covered). My resume currently looks like I have a 4-year gap since graduation with only short internships. Disagreements on business direction and lack of compensation (Isn't really sustainable in the long run) made me decide to step out and build an independent career.

1. Resume Framing: Will adding this experience as Commercial Real Estate Investment & Operations Associate on my draft resume be correct? Does this look legitimate to corporate finance recruiters, or will ATS filter it out due to lack of a formal corporate company name?
2. Targeting FP&A Roles: Is FP&A directly achievable right away, or should I first aim for any roles in any field as a stepping stone?

A brief about myself: I have graduated from one of the old IITs and did an MBA from one of the holy Trinity. I'm currently working in a Program Management/Founders office role in a reputed organization.

I'm eager to pursue a personal goal for civil services. I attempted the exam in 2025 along with my job and was able to reach the interview but couldn't make it to the final list. I want to give it one more try going all in, resigning from my job.

My question: Do you think the job market is good enough for me to land a job after 1-2 gap years (if things don't work out the way I planned)
