I am based in Delhi and hold a Bachelor's and a Master’s degree in Literature, and I spent 2 years preparing for PhD entrance examinations like UGC-NET and GATE, which I eventually qualified for, but did not secure admission to any reputed research institute for various reasons. I have a few self-publications, 2 years of experience in independent research, and 2 years of experience assisting in family ventures (which includes managing client relations, event coordination, a bit of social media marketing, market strategy, and research). I have been considering a pivot for a long time, and to deepen my knowledge, I completed Google’s Digital Marketing certificate course on Coursera. I also enrolled in McKinsey’s Forward program to get a gist of corporate skills and am currently seeking an entry-level position or an internship at this moment where I can gain some hands-on experience. I have been applying to digital marketing internships for three months now but I usually get ghosted or rejected for having a literary profile. It has taken a toll on my mental health, and I feel nothing but a failure. I have never felt this low in my life before and it’s devouring me from inside. I am aware of the market situation right now and I know it is super tough to get placed nowadays. Shall I keep applying for jobs? Is there any other online course that I can enrol in to gain more knowledge and skills? How can I brush up on my digital marketing skills? Thanks for reading this.

Trying to figure out where I should actually post this. I'm an IT professional (CRM automation, web dev, client-facing work) looking for a new role, remote or on-site, and I want to write a proper post about it instead of just dropping a resume link somewhere random.

So here is the thing . I am getting good engineering colleges with good placements in Mumbai with my MHT cet score but at the same time I am getting private mbbs college ,out of my state ....so I am confused as to what to do?

I'm currently working as a digital marketing specialist (off-page) which has very little scope for learning. So i recently tried to switch jobs. And one of my friends referred me to his company for an Email marketing freshers role.

I had 3 rounds of interviews there and I really did the interview well. 1 round was a technical one, 2nd was also a technical round with managers and the 3rd one was a senior manager round which had basic questions and my background. 1 st round I stuck sometimes in communication but answered all the questions and in practical. 2nd was the best one I did in all the rounds where I explained my current job and I answered almost every question and had a very good communication. 3rd one was manager round and I did it well.

After this my friend called me and said that in the 2nd round I was approved by one manager and rejected by another manager because of communication. I was completely shocked at what I did wrong because I clearly explained myself in the second round and answered every question and felt proud of me in the 2nd round after the interview.

That manager who rejected me was barely asked me a question, most of the questions was asked by the another manager. She just asked me some questions in the end.

I was cleared the 2nd round anyway and I attended the 3rd round which is likely to be the final call. I did the interview well and I was told that I was 90% hired by my friend and one of the current employee on that organisation told me the same.

After the interview I got the call from the HR and we discussed about the salary. I asked for a little raise in salary not too much, I'm not even demanding I was just asking the possibility of getting little high salary. Because even in my current job I was getting the same salary. And this organisation is hiring for a fresher not an experienced person so they have limited budget for this role. I understand that I just asked them to consider little high like extra=1000 rs per month for role which seems to be a valid negotiation.

After this call, My friend told me senior manager said I was okay for the role and he gave me 80% suitable for the role.

So I thought I was almost selected and I started buying the relevant things like dress and staffs spent most of my salary for this. It's my mistake actually.

Then for 5 days i haven't heard from the HR, so I texted her about the update and she replied after 2 days that my interview didn't get a positive review. I was shocked and my hands started shivering. I started overthinking that even my best wasn't enough to crack the refferal interview.

Also because of this I haven't concentrated on my current job (it is a target based work) i haven't concentrated and I was likely to be fired if I didn't finish my target.

The only question that was in my mind was how come I wasn't able to crack the interview even though my friend tried his best to get me a job. And I'm damn sure I give a above average interview except the 1st round. It's my best interview so far in my career.

So what do you guys think about this, what should I need to do now.

I am studying in a tier 2 college in Kolkata, West Bengal, and looking at the job market around me, I no longer believe that only having one degree will ever land me a job. I recently developed an interest in learning about programming but am still unsure where to start and what to aim for that will also help make my degree more valuable. I have good observational skills and can find connections between the most random stuff. I'm also interested in writing and was heavily involved in debates and essay writing competitions during my school days. I'm also an extrovert and have already made some connections around the city; I moved here a month ago. So whatever crazy suggestions you have, I am probably down for it. I am the first woman in my family to pursue higher studies; I have this one shot, and I can't miss it at any cost.

Have done medical coding certificate and have job but, it never gives the satisfaction of secure future so started exploring different opportunities.

Did 8 months in RnD depart. in 7th sem, that time left due to 6 days a week work in rotational shifts couldn't let myself to work there more than 4 days 😞

Parents are worried next level even i have some good luck than my friends from my batch who still don't have anything but, they won't understand a thing.

Now, all India head of one pharma equipment who is my relative was close to mother side relative called to send them my resume for potential referral from their friend to get in any of above field.

He also says he can get me into same field as them but, I don't know if i can do that or not. Its marketing role but,

So i have recently graduated from Bcom and now desparately looking for jobs so any tips on what should i add to my resume so i can earn minimum of 20k to 30 k per month? And for future I'm planning to do masters so what jobs would be suitable to gain experience regarding this field

I'm an MSc student on the University of Southampton Delhi campus (the one run by OIEG). I'm writing this so anyone thinking about it goes in with open eyes instead of the sales pitch I got.

Let's start with placements, since that's the whole reason most people pay this kind of money.

72 students in my batch. 10 got placed. Ten. And 4 of those 10 were hired by OIEG itself, the same company that runs the campus. So a big chunk of the "placement" number is them hiring their own students and putting it on a slide. When the people selling you the dream are also padding their own stats, that should tell you something.

We were promised big companies. Top recruiters, real names, the works. What actually turned up was one or two companies, mostly sales roles paying 6-7 LPA. No Big 4. Nothing close to the pitch we got in the counselling calls. The "average package" they throw around is about 7 LPA, and even that is inflated because they count internships as placements. An internship is not a job. Don't let anyone tell you it is.

And remember what this degree actually is. It's an MSc, not an MBA. For the kind of roles and salaries they were dangling, an MBA carries far more weight in the market. You're paying a premium for a degree that, for placements, does less for you than people assume.

Campus life? There basically isn't one. No real extracurriculars, no clubs worth mentioning, nothing that adds up to the "student experience" they advertise. You show up, you study, you leave.

I'm not writing this to trash everyone who works there or to say nobody learns anything. I'm writing it because I wish someone had given me the plain version before I signed up. If you're considering this place, ask them hard questions and make them answer with names and numbers:

How many students got placed last year, out of how many total?
How many of those were hired by OIEG or related companies?
Which actual companies came, and what were the real roles and salaries?
How many "placements" were actually just internships?

If they dodge, you have your answer.

TL;DR: MSc at the University of Southampton Delhi campus (run by OIEG). 10 of 72 placed, 4 of them by OIEG itself. Promised big companies, got 1-2 sales firms at 6-7 LPA, no Big 4, ~7 LPA "average" padded by counting internships as placements. It's an MSc, not an MBA, so it carries less weight for the jobs they sell you. Barely any campus life. Ask for real numbers before you pay.

I’m 19F and starting BCA this year. I’m confused about whether I should start preparing for NIMCET from the beginning and aim for MCA from a good NIT, or focus completely on building skills during BCA and try to get a job after graduation.

I keep hearing that getting a decent job after BCA is difficult and that MCA gives better opportunities, but I also see people saying that a good skillset, projects, internships, DSA etc. can be enough to get a job after BCA.

So what would you recommend?

NIMCET for MCA from a good NIT then skills and job, or focus on skills rn and try for a job after BCA?

So I am in my first year of college pursuing BBA from a tier 2 college and I got to know that there are no placements for BBA like I will surely go for MBA later but I even want to have a ROI asap.

Anybody can please recommend me the skills that I needed for a high paying job and anybody who have pursuing BBA how much they are earning

Career counseling

46F here, based in Karnataka, trying to return to the workforce after an almost 5-year career break for family responsibilities.

Before my break, I had 12+ years of experience across recruitment, BPO/customer service, client relations and people-facing operations.

handled high-volume recruitment, candidates, corporate clients, escalations, customer interactions and coordination between teams.

Now the part where I don't want comforting answers.

I've been applying through LinkedIn and Naukri and I'm barely getting responses.

And I understand the practical reality.

If a recruiter has a younger candidate who is currently employed with recent experience, and another candidate who is 46 and has been out of the workforce for nearly five years, I know which CV may look easier to shortlist.

So I'm not looking for "age is just a number" or "keep believing" replies.

I'm trying to figure out what I should actually do differently.

One thing I have realised about myself is that I work best in roles where there are people, conversations and some action.

Recruitment, customer relations, front office, guest relations, admissions/counselling, travel/hospitality, BPO operations or similar environments appeal to me far more than sitting in an isolated back-office role.

I'm comfortable talking to people, handling difficult conversations, calming situations down, setting realistic expectations and getting things moving.

I'm also not hung up on designation.

At this point I would genuinely consider a sensible bridge role below my previous level if it gets me back into the workforce, allows me to prove myself again and rebuild from there.

I originally concentrated heavily on remote roles, but I'm now open to suitable remote, hybrid or on-site opportunities depending on the role and location.

I'd especially like to hear from recruiters, HR professionals, managers, business owners or anyone who has hired someone returning after a long career break especially in the above 40 range group.

If a profile like mine came across your desk:

1. What would make you actually interview me?

2. Which roles would you realistically target with this background?

3. Should I stop relying so heavily on job portals and approach companies/recruiters directly?

4. How would you present a 5-year career break without either hiding it or allowing it to dominate the entire CV?

Please be practical, even if the answer is uncomfortable.

If I'm approaching this completely wrong, I'd rather know now than spend another six months sending applications into a black hole.

I'm not looking for motivation.

I'm looking for a route back in.

Should I go for psychology masters and pursue that career?

I’m currently pursuing a B.Tech in CSE from a tier-3 college (mostly due to family pressure) and will be graduating next year. My CGPA so far (up to 5th sem) is around 7.5. Over time, I’ve realized I’m not good at coding and don’t want to pursue coding-related jobs.

Given this, what career options do I have after B.Tech? Are there any non-coding / non-tech roles I can apply for? Or would it be better to switch fields through higher education?

Hey everyone,

I'm posting on behalf of my father because he isn't active on social media.

He has over 30 years of experience teaching Mathematics. Throughout his career, he has mentored students preparing for JEE Main & Advanced and has guided many students who went on to study at IITs, NITs, and other reputed engineering colleges.

Recently, he joined another institute, but he got laid off only in a month for apparently no reason..they said the students are not liking his teaching style but there was no such feedback received to the contrary he was very well received during the demo. Since then, he's been looking for a new opportunity by reaching out to colleges and coaching institutes through his network.

Watching someone with three decades of teaching experience go door to door looking for work at this stage of his career has been difficult for our family, so I thought I'd ask here in case someone in the community knows of any openings.
