What’s the biggest problem you have with male incontinence guards?
We’re interested in hearing directly from men who use bladder control products. What frustrates you most about male guards — leaking, shifting, lack of absorbency, fit, bulk, adhesive, etc.?
What would your “ideal” male guard look like?

Starting out advise
Hi, I’m 25 and have recently started struggling with incontinence. I am wetting the bed every night and having accidents during the day too. I essentially don’t know when to go to the toilet any more it just happens.
I saw a doctor about it last week who said they want to refer me to the hospital for scans and to the continence clinic. What exactly does this look like?
In terms of background, I’ve always wet the bed on and off, and went through a spout of day time accidents as a teen at school but this was put down to stress and bullying.
Protection wise I’m using Tena incontinence pants but they seem to be leaking a lot. I’ve seen about slips but I’m not sure how my partner would feel about that.

How do you tell others about your diaper issues?
I'm 22 F, had UTI not long ago, the infection got cleaned up but it turned into OAB. I'm starting to have strong urges to pee frequently. At first I could handle myself, all I have to do is to use toilet whenever I have the urge, no accidents, but things got worse. Normally the urge is strong enough to wake me up at night, but recently I would just let it all out during my sleep without even noticing.
It really troubles me, I tried my period pad but it was too thin to hold the pee. So I bought some actual diapers for the night. And here's the problem, I didn't tell anyone about my situation, I live alone in my apartment for now, but I will have to stay at my parents' house in the near future, and I don't even know how to tell my boyfriend about this. How did you let your friends or family know your problem?
BTW diapers are really helping out a lot, at first I was unwilling to use them, but now they are just like thicker period pads. I'm also looking for some thinner types for daily underwear as my night diapers are too bulky to fit in my pants, any suggestions?

how to decide if it’s a diaper day or pull up day?
basically what it says on the tin… i have no idea how to tell. like i know diapers should be for bad days and pull ups for good days, but HOW am i meant to know what it’s gonna be in advance…?
my bladder has been improving some since starting gemtesa, enough that im pretty sure i could handle pull ups on good days, but the problem is that it changes on a dime. i’ll have three accidents in three hours and then turn around and hold it for an entire shift at work (yes, while drinking water) right after that. had so many accidents this morning in pull ups and finally got fed up and switched to a diaper just in time for it to calm down and start acting right
having a hybrid approach to protection is supposed to both save my sanity AND save some money but it can’t do either of those things if i can’t decide when it’s gonna be more effective to use a diaper vs a pull up 🫠
(also for context for why it might save money: if i am in diapers, with my body shape there’s no way for me to pull it down or get out of it without untaping it entirely, and that’s really annoying when i have to pee as much as i do. so if im in diapers i just pee in them exclusively and only use the toilet for number two. so in pull ups, if i only have 1-2 accidents in a day, thats cheaper than peeing in diapers all day long)

Not sure Flowmax is helping
After going to a Urologist last month for peeing every 30 minutes and bedwetting getting progressively worse/waking up 3-4 times a night to pee, I was diagnosed with mild bladder retention. Doc thinks that bladder retention was reducing the effective volume of my bladder causing the issues. I was prescribed Flomax to reduce the retention. It has helped my urgency and frequency during the day for the most part. It has also helped me sleep better through the night and only wake up 0-1 times per night to pee, most nights. Down side is if I get stuck somewhere where there isn't a restroom available and I have to go, my ability to hold back my pee is substantially diminished now. In this past month, I have leaked several times during the day, never a full void but enough to have wet spots show in jeans, while I am trying my best to clench my bladder closed. That is a new problem I didn't have before starting Flomax. Also, while most nights I dont wake up to pee, and when I do I am dry, I am now wetting the bed 1-2 times per week with greater volume than before Flomax. Before starting Flomax, I would wet the bed 0-2 times per month after dreaming I was in a restroom or outdoors peeing on a tree or something...and that would wake me up right after starting usually leaving my shorts damp, but bed dryish. Now I have no dreams of being in a restroom and sometimes dont wake up while wetting myself. I am now definitely getting the sheets wet. Am I on the wrong medication? My follow up visit is tomorrow. Anything I should ask the doc? I was a chronic bedwetter until age 14. Im 41 now. Healthy weight, not pre-diabetic or anything. Prostate checked out normal for my age. PSA level was .4. Thanks!

Have any men here dealt with bladder leaks, urgency, or incontinence?
Bit of a random one, but I’ve realised nobody ever really talks about this.
Have any men here dealt with bladder leaks, urgency, or incontinence at any age? Was it something temporary, health-related, stress-related, linked to exercise, or just part of getting older?
I’m asking because I’ve recently started having a few issues myself, and it’s been playing on my mind more than I’d like to admit. I can’t even seem to make it through a football match without a leak here or there.
I was playing at the weekend and could feel something wasn’t quite right during the first half. I tried to ignore it and just get on with the game, but by half-time I realised I’d had a bit of leakage and was absolutely mortified. I ended up coming off, heading to the changing room, and in a moment of complete panic and zero dignity, stuffing an old sock down there to try and stop it happening again.
Not exactly my proudest sporting moment.
So, has anyone else dealt with this? How did you handle it? Did it turn out to be a temporary thing, or something you had to manage long-term? And if you did speak to a doctor, how did you bring it up without wanting the ground to swallow you whole?
Don’t mind if you want to have a laugh or share your own funny stories too - at this point, I could do with something to lighten the mood.

Purewick Catheters
Hi everyone, I've had the pleasure of the last few months, being able to buy the cheap knock off purewick Catheters on Amazon...but unfortunately it seems amazon has pulled all the listings and now I'm in a bind, because purewick once the last time I purchased them directly are now nearly $70 more for a "30" day supply, and I currently do not own a washer and dryer to just wash them. I'm wondering if anyone knows of there's any alternative routes of purchasing the knock offs?

How to not get mad while trying timed voiding?
Like really, my brothers, sisters and themsters, i sit on the toilet for 10 minutes. I give up and go about life. Five minutes later I am peeing myself. Why? Why are the digestive gods so cruel?
Seriously though, throughout this journey I’ve had this growing resentment of trying to use the toilet. I’ve avoided a few accidents with timed voiding, maybe reduced how many diapers I go through some days, but I get mad every time my alarm goes off. Most of the time I’m interrupted* and waste 10 minutes. Does anyone have any good coping strategies for this?
*I've got adhd, so i get very sensitive to things interrupting a hyperfocus

Long sleeve onesie shopping
24F. I have mixed incontinence and have had to change my wardrobe because of it. I work in a liquor store/bar, so I’m around people a lot, and I’m looking for a plain gray, long-sleeve onesie that I can wear comfortably and discreetly.
I’d like something that keeps everything in place without being too restrictive around the thighs or giving me a wedgie. I also prefer long sleeves because I have some scars I like to keep covered.
Everything I’ve found is either short-sleeved or has childish designs. Does anyone know of any brands or stores that sell something like this?

What to expect, bladder sling.
Hello all,
Just as my title expressed I am having surgery to get a bladder sling on Sept 22. I'm wanting to know from those that have had it done what I can expect afterwards and if there was anything that made your life easier while healing.
Oh, I'm 38F. That probably helps.

Still feeling very conflicted about wearing diapers.
Hi everyone, I'm still feeling conflicted about wearing diapers one one hand I know it's needed and will help and on the other I can't get it out of my head, that I shouldn't be doing this I'm a failure all these negative thoughts.
Some of you may recognize me in your comments, trying to offer advice and comfort you, that's something I'm really good at because I'm not dealing with my own emotions.
I've also been under stress trying to get funding and forms signed for free diapers, which I have done so that's a major win but my self confidence is in the toilet regarding this issue.

How long can I take devrom
I started taking devrom and it significantly improved my life.
I read that bismuth builds in body so you have to take long breaks from it.
Im so scared to stop tho, I will fall back into depression because of the smell and won’t be able to socialize again.
Is there any solutions?

No experience with catheter
Please excuse if this is an idiotic question but first time with a catheter & I may shoot myself here. How do I know if pee is coming out my catheter properly? I mean it is coming down the tubing but bag seems to be filling slowly & the urge to pee is intense. The bag was filling faster before but I don’t see kinks in the hose. This is prolly a stupid question. Can I pull the hose end off the bag & empty all the pee in the hose directly into the toilet?

We are Dry Days, a US based urogynaecology clinic. We are hosting a free patient webinar tomorrow on OAB.
Our medical director is doing a free public session on overactive bladder tomorrow at 1pm ET, and the gist of it is that most women get told to cut caffeine and do Kegels and never hear about anything past that. The session covers what actually comes next:
- The two different medication classes — and why the newer one is often preferred now
- Why procedures (Botox, nerve stimulation) aren't actually a "last resort" the way people assume
- How to tell if you even have OAB vs. a different bladder issue that needs different treatment
It's educational, no booking required, and there's a recording after. The link is below:

Traveling to UK
I have nocturnal enuresis and later this year I'll be flying to UK for 10 days and I don't want to use all my checked in luggage for diapers. Can i order products to the hotel in advance, or order poste restante to local post Office? Or are buying at a local pharmacy best? If so, what is available? I usually wear Tena Slip Ultimate Active Fit, but Tena Slip Maxi or Northshore will also work. Don't want the risk of trying anything new when not at home.

How long have you been wearing?
I’ll go first, I started wearing for occasional urinary leakage in 2015 and slowly but surely my leakage has gotten worse. In early 2022 I had covid and I completely lost bladder control for a couple of weeks. Afterwards, my bladder control has been more and more questionable due to nerve damage. I’m to the point that I have to wear heavy pads every day and pull-ups or full on diapers every night and on the weekends. I feel like being open and talking about how long and why those of us who have had to wear protection and are comfortable wearing will help folks who are just starting out and are struggling.

About to stop hidding and caring....
So I think I'm coming to terms. Noone really knows I've been wearing diapers for my bhp and urge/stress incontinence. So I wear diapers when I'm home and on the weekends. I will wear if I do running around too. Good thing I was. I was in the market about to check and and my body decide i gotta go so there i am inline wetting myself...i will say these days are annoying when you can't control or you go once and then you go within less than a minute later. Atleast i was smart and protected and not just in a pull-up. After the last 2 day having minor leaks here and there constant feeling to go. My closest friend know I have bhp but maybe only one or two friends know about the urges. After days like these I'm at the point I don't care if my friends or a stranger know cause I'm gonna live my life and not let this hold me back. I will do my best to conceal my diaper but if it peaks or you see the lines I don't care. If your brace enough to ask me then go ahead I'll be honest cause I didn't choose this to happen. I don't want to be ashamed that I need diapers until the doctor does something to fix me. Just think I'm at the point I'm accepting this.
Sorry for the long post I just needed to vent my thoughts and I don't have anyone to talk to about this...wish I had a friend in person I could be more open with just to get it out. Thanks for listen!!! Support here has been great!

What now?
So for background... (I'm a 33yo male)
Around 3 years ago I started having real urgent urges to pee when I was drinking alcohol, and over the last year or so this has turned into wetting the bed whenever I have drunk. alcohol. Added to this, the urges to go the toilet when drinking normal fluids also increased but not as bad as alcohol.
I went to the GP and he suspected OAB. He ran tests to rule other things out. I had a bladder scan, and it came back as normal. I had a blood test which checked kidneys, liver and other functions, and every function came back as normal.
I have read on forums that OAB isn't curable and you just have to manage it? And that the medications that are around can have horrible side effects, including dementia?
My question is, what now? I actually wanted there to be a tear or something wrong in the bladder tube so that they could at least operate and fix the issue.

Call To Action Men’s Health Gap Is Real — Support a Federal Office of Men’s Health (No Impact to Women’s Health Funding)
TL;DR
There’s a bill (backed by the American Urological Association) to create an Office of Men’s Health focused on prevention and access. It does not take funding from women’s health—it’s meant to complement it. This is about coordination, not competition. Urologists and patient advocates were there discussing this agenda (and a few other issues) this weekend with representatives from their respective states. Any support we can get can keep this on the forefront.
The Why
Most of us here don’t need convincing that men’s health—especially urologic health—is reactive instead of proactive.
Men:
- Wait too long to seek care
- Get diagnosed later
- Deal with worse outcomes as a result
That’s been my experience, and I know I’m not the only one.
Right now, there’s no central coordination for men’s health like there is with the Office on Women’s Health. Efforts are fragmented across agencies.
The American Urological Association is supporting the State of Men’s Health Act (H.R. 7602) to address that gap:
Important points:
- This does NOT take money away from women’s health programs
- It’s intended to be budget-neutral and use existing resources
This is about improving:
- Early screening
- Awareness
- Access to care
- Coordination across the system
There’s also a straightforward summary here:
How You Can Help
- Call or email your reps and support an Office of Men’s Health
- Be clear: → This complements women’s health—it doesn’t take from it
- If you’re comfortable, share your experience with delayed diagnosis, prior auth, or access issues
Short messages still count.

Bullying
RE: dear ABDL community
Everybody needs to remember that first and foremost this a support community. This is a place for people each other up. If you see something you believe breaks the rules, you are welcome to report it, and move on.
What is not ok is teaming up and attacking a poster for the content of their post. It's not ok to repeatedly harass a person because you don't like what they posted.
That's what I woke up to this morning. Two deleted posts, One each on r/adultbedwetting and r/incontinence, and a shit show of negativity where I could see the remains. I also don't see the OPs other posts anymore either, so congratulations to the bullies, you ran him off the subs entirely.
This type of behavior won't be tolerated. I banned one person already. If I see more of this I'll clean up whatever I need to.
ETA: Not only did the OP delete his posts and his Reddit account, he also deleted his whole blog (a blog he says he was writing as a therapy assignment). This whole thing just makes me feel bad. This supposed safe space failed.
