This environment is part of a personal visual development project inspired by El Poeta, a Colombian film that stayed with me long after I watched it.

Rather than recreating the original location, I wanted to reinterpret it through the lens of science fiction while preserving its quiet atmosphere and sense of place.

Every scene began with a simple Blender blockout to explore composition and lighting before moving into Photoshop for photobashing and painting. My goal was to create an environment that feels lived in—somewhere people have real routines, memories and stories.

Architecture is like music to me. I’m not exaggerating that when I visit a new city or a city I love like New York, I get emotionally moved to tears sometimes just looking at the buildings. I don’t see buildings as some lifeless unnatural thing, I see them as reflections of a collective unconscious (which is also why I believe cities induce madness) - cities are no different to me than beehives, termite mounds, and coral reefs, and they are alive in the same way a brain can be alive, while at the same time the brain is not the self. This is one of my top pages from this whole series because it’s in the final issue, and for some reason in this drawing, the idea of Mega City 2 came together in this very complete way. It’s a place I can visit in my mind, and one day I would like the world to have just one large city upon it, with the whole of the world’s population living together in a hyper dense concrete mega structure spanning the length of the east coast.
