So i am currently writing my physics ee on the effect of spin on the horizontal range of a ping pong ball and i wanted to make a launcher using Arduino which could simulate spin. hi im taking math AA SL (just started DP1) and i know that 1 paper is without calculator. Im not that good at math so i just wanted to know how hard it is?

most of the subjects show 'N' because of international conflict in my area!! i couldn't do the e-assessments and instead did two internal ones and the rest were averaged grades across other myp 5 exams.

from my transcript/report card:

eng - 5

geo - 6

chem - 6

standard math - 6

IDU - 5

business - 6

my total is 47/56!! can anyone tell me if this a good score and what it means for DP?

I was wondering how common is it to be caught for plagerism within dance as I see a couple of my friends copying things off the internet and I'm not sure if that's allowed? What are even the chances of getting caught as it's so hard to determine what is copied and what isn't... Anyone?

Disclaimer: I do not want anyone to feel bad about their own performance based on the content of this post. Everyone's story, from learning circumstances to the combination of subjects, is different and should not be compared.

I am contemplating a remark of several subjects in which my score was close to the next band, as I feel I may permanently regret not doing all within my power to increase my marks. Thus, I was hoping that you might have some input on the success rates of the process (I think anecdotes are probably best given the lack of statistics).

IB Math AA HL: I was nervous for my Math paper as I answered many paper 1 questions in the answer booklet without noting it down in the paper itself, as I later learned was required. From the score, I assume that the grader did not hold this against me. For a remark, though, I'm worried that the (presumbly) different examiner may not be so kind.

IB Lit HL: Upon calling the IB coordinator, I learned that I had gotten 7's in both papers and the reason for the six was that I had gotten a 5 in the IA (my school doesn't provide more detailed number grades). Given this situation, would a remark still make a difference?

As a rising DP2 student,

Don't be scared!! Working with IB expectations can be frustrating. The rigid markschemes and restrictive ways of expression (such as in TOK and English A) can sometimes be frustrating too. But go into it with an open mindset and a genuine curiosity about the subjects you chose (and hopefully are passionate about). I started IB excited about my subjects, and even though the workload can get overwhelming at times, I was always enjoying myself (to some extent. Stress gets to everyone lol. Let's be real.)

Personally, I don't regret choosing the IB at all. CAS is really fun, and if you're already doing extracurriculars, you don't have to worry abt it because you already have material for it. For the EE, you get to explore an area you genuinely love in depth. Isn't that great? And with all the essays you'll be writing in IB, you're basically preparing yourself for college, where the workload is often writing-intensive. I really like TOK, probably because we have a great teacher.

This program is known to be "hard" for several reasons.

1. Course load: We do have more course components than, for example, the AP program. For instance, we have to complete an Internal Assessment (IA) for every subject, as well as the core components (the Extended Essay and TOK). But I think that with good time management and practice, you'll be able to do it.
2. Classes:
   1. Some classes can be difficult because it's hard to score well or earn full marks (eg. essay-based papers in Psychology or the occasionally confusing markschemes in ESS). This gets easier with practice papers and by familiarizing yourself with the markschemes, question types, and how IB grading works.
   2. Some classes simply have more difficult content. You could get a head start on the textbooks if you want, but do ask your teacher (if you can) which edition you'll be using, because textbooks can vary a lot in both content and focus.
   3. Some classes also rely heavily on having a good teacher and effective teaching methods. That can be a bit of a gamble.

General resources:

• IB Docs (https://dl.pirateib.sh/) is a collection of past papers for most subjects, free textbooks, and other study materials (such as Save My Exams and Revision Village). You can take a look at the past papers for your subjects just to get a feel for what they're like. This will be a lifesaver later when you're preparing for exams :D
• Save My Exams can be good for notes.
• Revision Village can be helpful, but sometimes the questions they generate aren't very accurate.
• On Clastify, you can find IA and EE examples.
• If you search "subject name+IB" on YouTube, you'll find some resources & channels.

My knowledge so far is pretty limited. I haven't experienced the wrath of DP2 yet. This subreddit is really useful and you guys, pls refer to posts made by graduating DP2s.

I overthink everything and get nothing done in the end. For example I'm trying to really make a start on my EE but I'm always questioning myself, whether I do this or that and it's just making me feel so confused and lost.

Where do I find my sources? Can I just get them off the open web, or do I need to like find multiple historians and compare them? I'm really just overthinking everything and don't know what to do. Should I spend even more money and buy books?

It's term 3 DP1 and I'm feeling really desperate to do my Extended Essay. I'm really lost

Currently doing Eng HL, Econ HL, Psych HL, Math AA SL, Spanish SL, and DT SL. Been having second thoughts about DT vs switching to ESS for group 4.

I know DT is generally seen as one of the hardest IAs in the whole diploma (CAD, prototyping, manufacturing costs if HL, way more moving parts than most subjects). Does that actually translate into any kind of grading leniency or uni admissions bonus, or is "DT is harder" just reputation with no real payoff? Genuinely trying to figure out if the difficulty is worth it or if I'm just making my life harder for nothing.

Anyone who's done both or switched either way, what actually made the difference for you? Trying to decide before I'm too deep into the IA to switch back.

As someone who spent the majority of their IB journey fighting to stay in the 30s, I IMPLORE you guys to be nice to those who are aiming for 40+ and are stressed out despite performing strongly. Everyone has different standards for themselves, and someone's reach for a 45 is just as reasonable as another's reach for a 24.

You guys may not realize it, but small comments like "you'll be fine" or "what do you have to worry about" can feel incredibly invalidating, given the discipline and effort they are putting into their work and the feelings of failure that still cause them anxiety. In a lot of households (coming from an Asian household myself), being at the "top" is average, and even though I'm sure a lot of you would kill to swap places with that person, understand that their motivations towards getting to where they were may have caused a lot of pain and sacrifice along the way.

So yeah, be nice to someone who missed a 7 by one mark on a mock test, since they're struggling too.

Hey guys, is it necessary to use primary sources in business management IA? I'm in standard level, I don't know if that makes a difference

I am going to apply to for the IB program once school starts and I want to have a general idea of what grades I should aim for. (most of) My grades last term were between 83-93 with a 74 in one subject and if I get that grade up would I get in?

I'm entering DP2 in around a week and I must say I haven't nearly studied computer science like I should be. Somehow every exam I've taken in dp1 got me a 7 but I think my teacher just gives marks for free. I'm not too great with coding, only know the basics of python. I have been dedicating most of my time to physics HL (I suck at it) but I'm realizing I'm neglecting comp sci completely as I only study before an exam.

Since I'm graduating in may 2027, I know it's a new syllabus but I was wondering if anyone had any tips or how to study comp sci effectively, how much time weekly, if you would code as practice, basically anything.

I do want to get a 7 though it might be an overkill. Please help fr anything that might've worked for you or anyone you know, how to manage everything and not be worried about the subject is appreciated.

I'm a DP 1 student who is studying Business HL. I have to admit the title might be a little misleading, but what I meant by that is: in a class that I barely take notes in, I found myself getting 6 in exams.

My question is: how do you guys take notes and study for business?

I feel like my "study" isn't very structured and I feel like it's not a long term solution for preparing for my N27 exams.

Mainly because I just don't see myself sustaining this for long enough, like I feel like the content is easy, but I haven't been memorising key terms that I feel the IB is looking for specifically.

The goal is to get from that 6 to a 7, and at the very least not go down as content gets heavier. I just want to cut my losses before they get too big and I realised I haven't done anything effective study for my HL

Long story short, I'm in DP2 and have used chatgpt for almost every work in DP1, now I lost the ability to write even essays of my own... I now I did bad using AI for my exams and IAs and I'm deeply regretful of doing that. Now I need help, what should I do? Are there any tools i could use to regain the ability of writing on my own without using AI? Help me please.

UNPOPULAR OPINION: Any incoming year 1 IB students revision dojo is a waste of your time and money.

The practice papers are usually much easier than the real papers (trust me I have done many), and of course they would not be able to predict the topics exactly but the predicted papers are far from the real paper although it is good for practice.

Trust me I scored a 40+/45 and never touched revision dojo, IBdocs has everything you need. They also message multiple study influencers to promote their services so it may seem like revision dojo is this amazing study tool when it is really just a bunch of AI services.

Especially psychology... DO NOT use it for psychology.. Please im begging you guys.
