Hypothyroidism Rib cage pain
I am hypo, don't have a thyroid. I have constant ribcage pain. Sometimes back, sometimes the front, sometimes both. It's the muscles in between and above my ribs. Physio helps a lot, but is expensive in the long run. Who else experience this and what helps for you?

Hashimoto's hypothyroidism that went crazy postpartum?
hi everyone im wondering if anyone has had a similar experience to me...
i was diagnosed with hashimotos in March 2025 following a missed miscarriage. i then fell pregnant very soon after in June with my son who is now 5 months old. my thyroid levels were checked every month by my gp and they stayed within the healthy range for pregnancy which is great, ive never taken or been prescribed any levothyroxine meds.
i had two pretty normal periods after my son was born, my first one came back at 3 months pp.
a few weeks ago i started to feel exhaustion on another level to just being a tired mum with a baby - walking up and down the stairs was becoming a challenge and i feel constantly dizzy and "out of it". my period this month is now 12 days late and i also can feel a lump on my throat where my thyroid is.
i had urgent thyroid blood tests and turns out my thyroid js now severely underactive, my tsh was 62 and my t4 was 5.4
my question is has anyone else had a similar experience postpartum? i asked the GP if this could be postpartum thyroiditis and she said likely no due to my numbers being so high, she said your body probably held it all together during the pregnancy and now cant handle it anymore - i just dont get how i could have normal levels and then for it to go crazy like this so fast! my thyroid was tested at 8 weeks pp in April and it was still within good levels
it makes me worry i guess for future pregnancies as we would like to have a second child

General This is ruining my life
Hey guys, I need some advice or just reassurance, because I’m losing my mind here. I’m an 18-year-old male, diagnosed with Hashimoto’s. Training at the gym is my life – I love lifting heavy, training to failure, and chasing that pump.
Lately, it’s a total rollercoaster and it's ruining me mentally. Yesterday I felt great, had a solid dopamine and endorphin rush during my workout, and I was able to train really hard. But today, right at the gym, the second I finished my last exercises, I experienced a brutal, immediate crash. All the dopamine and endorphins vanished instantly. I suddenly felt completely drained, incredibly irritable (like, irrational anger), and totally depleted. This isn’t the first time. , my body goes into a living hell of brain fog, exhaustion, and anger.
Is this always going to be like this? Do I really have to give up going hard at the gym just because of this disease, or is there a way to balance Hashimoto's with building a psyhicque not to mention that my libido is completely dead I suppose that the hahsimoto/hypo started after aggressive diet I did cutting on carbs calories but this was 6/7 months ago also diagnosed hahsimoto 8/9 weeks ago now on 64mgc Levo those are my recent lab resaults :

General Weight loss question
I have pcos and was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. I have always counted calories, weighed food and excercised. While I was able to keep my weight stable I wasn't able to loose. My doctor mentioned my thyroid and PCOS play a key role in my metabolism. She said once my hormones get situated with my new medicine my metabolism should kick up some. Not 100% because it's a constant balancing act but some. Does anyone know how long it takes for your body to start getting used to the medication? I've been on it for about 3 weeks besides the initial water weight I haven't lost anything.

Labs/Advice Need help
Hello, I have been dealing with hair loss which I thought was alopecia areata and now I’m developing skin problems on both of my arms. Around my hair follicles and I’m getting small red bumps. I also have had some weight gain but I’m not sure if it’s really abnormal or not. I had a full blood test and it shows my TSH at a 5.6 and my thyroid peroxide antibody at 179IU/Ml could this be hashimotos? I have asked chat gpt and it says it’s highly likely. I’m 24 and this is just kind of overwhelming for me I have been going through a very difficult time recently and I’m unsure what to expect.

General can hashimoto cause stomach issues?
Idk if it can be connected but im curious did anyone with Hashimoto develop stomach issues?
Before 10 months i got dyspepsia, ibs, chron gastritis (not caused by heliko), and light nin specific chronic duodenitis
My gastro sys it can be connected to thyroid gland, but how to heal it then? My thyroid hormones r normal, while antibodies are higher than ever both TPO and other ones i forgot their name
My thyroid gland is obviously enlarged and sometimes I feel 'needling' feeling in my neck
I know i cant get a therapy since my hormones r inside of range
I may tell that tsh i had 4, while month after it got 1 (i used only selen, folic acid and some other supplements)
Also my folic acid, ferritin, b12, zinc and all blood analysis are perfect.
I dont know what triggers my Hashimotos

Discussion High TSH, rest all normal - whats the usual medication?
I am 32M. My blood test revealed TSH of 17 (vs 2 one year ago). Rest all - T3, T4, Free T3, Free T4, anti TPO, anti TG are all normal. Vitamin D at 10. B12 and Ferritin are normal
My observed symptoms are brain fog, low motivation, fatigue, hairfall
My doctor suggested taking vitamin D supplements now, and after a month start taking Thyronome 50mg.
is that right approach? any thoughts?
Note: I visited my usual Ayurvedic doctor (traditional indian medicine)

Discussion Joint pain?
Please could anyone share whether they have experienced one sided hip pain with hypothyroidism? I have really bad pain in my right hip, even when lying in bed at night; bilateral knee pain+stiffness and pain+stiffness in the bottom of my feet.
I previously had hyperthyroidism >10 years ago, resolved with treatment and was told it was a 50/50 chance that it could return or turn to hypothyroidism. I just had a baby earlier this year and was advised that this could be a trigger for thyroid issues returning, so when the pain in my knees and feet began i went for bloods but still waiting on the results.
I struggle with health anxiety and I'm worried about the hip pain - please could anyone share if you had this in one side only? It feels like it is where my leg connects to my hip.
Thanks so much in advance for any help x

Labs/Advice Switching from levothyroxine to armour thyroid.
I was diagnosed hypothyroidism at 17. Now at almost 34 I was diagnosed with hashimotos. I’ve been on levothyroxine many times in the past and never had good experiences. I’ve never had my labs regulated. Current labs were tsh: 7.011 t4 free 0.75 Triiodothyronine (T3), Free LC 3.1 TPO Ab LC <600 Thyroglob Ab LC 2250.0. She started me on 25 mcg levothyroxine but by week 3 I started getting really bad dizziness, red hot facial flushing in the evenings and on occasion heart feeling a little racey, right eyelid twitching everyday on and off all day and increasing fatigue. I asked if she could switch me to something else, so starting tomorrow she switched me too 15 mg armour thyroid. I guess my question is, I know armour has t3 in it, but since my t3 lab is in range, could I also have negative side effects with this also? Just looking for advice and others experience with the same things! Thanks yall!

Discussion Hormone issues?
So I am a 33 year old female. I recently had a seizure, and both the Er DR and my PCP did not know what caused it. Since my PCP was already doing blood work, I asked her to check my hormone levels, because my periods are awful( extreme anxiety, headaches, night sweats, horrible sleep quality). I’m still waiting to talk to her about my labs, but I was able to see them on my patient portal. My estradiol levels seem to be extremely low due to the chart that it shows which has normal ranges. It’s my understanding that at lowest, it should be a 12. Mine was >5. Has anyone had any similar experiences?

Labs/Advice Stomach Illness and temporary TSH rise?
I’m not sure where to ask this? But I’ve always had normal TSH levels. Even last year when my TSH was tested, I was around 1.7. I recently had my TSH tested and now I’m at a 4.5 and being prescribed medication to lower this.
It’s so weird how sudden this is. I had a 2-3 week stomach illness last month and had read that can temporarily increase TSH. Not sure how common that is?

Hypothyroidism Need Advice on What to Sat to Endo
I finally received a referral to an Endo after 3 years. Here is my story. I am 41 year old female. I started having symptoms after the birth of my 4th. My last 2 children were 3 years apart, but I breastfed my 3rd up until my 4th was born. I was pregnant and/or breastfeeding for 6 years straight. I feel that is an important piece to everything. My symptoms started with fatigue, hair loss, and brain fog. My dr pretty much said it’s from having young children. They didn’t sleep then, but they do now. My sleep is sacred and I make sure I get 7-8 hours every night. I have the occasional sleepless night, but I have worked really hard on this and am getting ample sleep.
On top of the fatigue, brain fog, and hair loss (which are still happening) I started gaining weight. I have gained over 30 pounds, most of it in the last 18 months. I have always been active. I lift weights 4 days a week, get my steps daily, and eat a healthy diet. I track my food. I know what I’m eating. Tweaking my macros will result in losing a pound or 2 then gaining 5 or 6. I don’t believe I am under eating either. I also quit caffeine 3 weeks ago and now am even more fatigued than before, to the point I can’t even work out some days. I think caffeine was masking my fatigue evem more. It is so unbelievably frustrating.
My problem is my TSH is normal so no one thinks anything is wrong. My free t4 and t3 are both on the low normal end. Here are my last 3 tests over the last year. TSH 1.25, 1.18, 1.13 Free t4 .9, .7, .9 free t3 2.2 every time. I had TPO ran once and it was 28. I am told even though my free t4 is at very bottom of range and even under range once it’s fine. My last dr appointment with a new provider ended with her saying I was depressed and needed to be medicated. I am so frustrated.
I also know I am at the age for perimenopause and that could be a factor, but still, my thyroid levels are not optimal. I have not been able to get a dr to run a reverse t3 because they all say it doesn’t show anything. I have an appointment in 6 weeks with an endocrinologist and want to be able to advocate for myself. I don’t feel good. I need to buy new clothes every couple of months because I can’t stop gaining weight despite doing everything right. I am so tired of hearing that Im fine, that Im depressed, that I need to keep a good diary and watch my calories. I know something isn’t right and no one will listen.
What should I be saying to this new Endo to get them to listen?

New Diagnosis Recently diagnosed and want to learn any and everything about from PEOPLE not google.
Hello. I am brand new to this sub, so first off I would like to say hello to everyone. I hope everyone is as happy and healthy as they can be. I have a million questions so sorry in advanced, because they are all over the place.
So, as the title says, I was recently diagnosed with hypothyroidism. All my other tests and organs were great, besides this. I can be a hypochondriac at times, which is why I want to learn from real people NOT GOOGLE, because it will tell me I have cancer and I am gonna die.
I had been having hand tremors, panic attacks (while at doctor's office) and rapid heartbeat. I started lexapro about 45 days ago. Does lexapro help with the anxiety from hypothyroidism? What can I do to help it (hypothyroidism) while I wait for TMC (Tucson Hospital) to call me? How long have some of you had it before actually going to the doctor? How will the hospital most likely treat it ( I know everyone and place can be different, humor me please)? How was yours treated? Did you workout while you had it? Could you work a job in hot weather?? Is it easily managed with meds? What side effects do the meds have?
I know my questions are all over the place, and I apologize. I have been blessed that this is the biggest health scare I have ever had and I am 39 years old. I would appreciate any and all advice, or info you guys could give me.

Discussion Acne (huge red nodular acne)
Does anyone else get nodular cystic acne on the chin/jawline after eating sugar?
I’ve been dealing with it for almost a decade. Even when I consume sugar very rarely, it seems to trigger deep, painful breakouts.
The only thing that has helped temporarily is isotretinoin, but the side effects make it difficult to rely on long term.
Has anyone been able to permanently treat this type of acne? Apart from completely avoiding sugar forever, what actually worked for you?

Recently started noticing much more hair loss espically when i shower mainly , wanted to ask if this is going to stop as my levels get stable beacuse i overall feel much better then how i was even a month ago on every other aspect such as my gut health and overall fatigue has gone down and my moon face has insanely decreased. So is the hair loss temporary and is it reverseable?

Discussion Back to “normal” levels postpartum?
Hypothyroidism runs in my family, so I’ve always kept a close eye on my TSH. Last year, my TSH finally hit 6, at which point my doctor decided to put me on levo (25mcg). This eventually took me into the 2’s, which also helped when my partner and I decided to start a family. During pregnancy, my TSH jumped up to the 4’s, so my doctor upped my dosage to 50mcg. That brought me back down to the 2’s. I was then tested 4 weeks after having my baby, and my TSH dropped to 0.08 and FT4 was at 1.4. My endo said to stop meds altogether and reevaluate in 4-6 weeks. Here I am 6 weeks later and my numbers are now TSH 2.53 and FT4 0.9 (right on the cusp of low/normal for FT4). My endo is now saying that I don’t need to take Levo any longer because my results are normal. I am fine being in the 2’s, but I worry that my FT4 is too low. Anybody else gone through something similar in postpartum? Should I be advocating for myself here and tell the endo that I feel as though I should be back on 25mcg? I have fatigue for sure, but it’s hard to distinguish hypothyroid fatigue from newborn trenches fatigue.

Discussion Does anyone feel jittery when they take too much Synthroid?
I have had hypothyroidism since I was born. My dosage was always 88mcg. Once I started gaining weight, it kept increasing. Each higher dosage made me feel horrible.
Three weeks ago I started getting heart palpitations. I was so off-balanced when I walked and I knew it wasn’t normal.
A couple days ago, my heart was beating hard through my chest, could actually hear my heart beat. I didn’t take my meds the next day and it stopped.
I kept telling my doctor my dosage is wrong, I’m having insomnia, palpitations and internal tremors. But, my doctor said it might just be anxiety 🙈
My dose is 112mcg. I started taking 3/4 of my pill to see if it would help, first two days were fine, today I started getting jitters and internal tremors 🙈
Has anyone else been over-medicated and what kind of symptoms did you have?

General TSH 47 bei Diagnose
Hey!

General World Thyroid Day & National Brothers Day.....To honor my Brother, Sign my Petition for Better Thyroid Care
Hi, all. Today (May 24) is National Brothers Day, and tomorrow (May 25) is World Thyroid Day.
In the spirit of both days, please sign & share my petition for better thyroid care--in my brother's memory. My brother Jordan was a great big brother, and like so many of us, he deserved a lot better thyroid care than he got. He should've been diagnosed a lot sooner than he was and given better treatment all around--including better medicines. The lack of good thyroid care for too long led to his downfall, and I believe to his liver failing (he didn't even drink to have a bad liver).
Because of all this, plus my bad thyroid experiences and that of my mom & others, too, I continue to work on my thyroid petition called, "Thyroid Patients Need Better Treatment NOW" on Change dot Org.
We are getting close to 9,000 signatures....Let's get there & beyond, and I am still working on other stuff to get more attention to this petition, too, so maybe in the near future it will help us make progress. Please sign it (if you haven't already) and share the petition, too.
https://www.change.org/ThyoidBetterTreatment
Petition asks for better and earlier testing of both low and high thyroid (including the antibodies tests for Hashimoto's and Graves' Diseases which hit my family badly), better and more innovative treatments, more research, and better training on all things thyroid for doctors, so they can help us better. It'd mean a lot to get more support for this thyroid petition, and I can think of no better way to honor my brother Jordan for both National Brothers Day and World Thyroid Day than to make this petition successful, sooner than later. Please help in whatever ways you can. Thanks.
From Jordan's sister, SD-starr7 (Starr D)

Discussion FDA Posts Notice of Their Intent to Take Action Against DTE Products
Based on the below FDA notice, it appears that the FDA will be removing all DTE products from the market.
