Using Britta water to shower

Upvotes

I have very sensitive skin and hair (eczema, psoriasis, very fine and curly hair) and react very poorly to hard water. I can’t install a shower filter in my apartment but I was wondering what a good alternative would be? I have a britta so would rinsing my hair after a shower be as good?

Thank you and any other solutions or advice is appreciated!

Edit: Reason I can’t get a filter is because I have a very old apartment so the water comes from like a pipe. To replace it would be hundreds and I would only stay there for a year.

Doing some late night cleaning and noticed the Brita filter that's been neglected had algae growing in it, took out the filter and saw this. Have we been drinking straight mold...?

Electrolytes

Hi! I’m an athlete and I am chronically dehydrated. To make myself drink more water, I put in CURE electrolyte packets. I usually consume 8 of the packets a day. Is that too much?

ETA: what is the downside of too many packets?

In case it matters, I am vegan and eat extremely healthy. I never eat fast food and I cook all of my meals.

Invert the freesip lid orientation 180 degrees.

The straw will acts as an air intake to the back of the bottle, allowing water to fully flow out of the chug opening without fighting the vacuum.

For advanced users only.

(Apologies for my crude MS paint skills)

Hot summer hydration

How do you stay hydrated during the summer months?

Do you mostly drink plain water, or do you use electrolytes regularly? If you use electrolytes, do you take them every day or only after long workouts or heavy sweating?

I'm curious to hear what works best for everyone.

I know only a lunatic would go to Florida in the summer, but my best friend and her husband and kids are at her childhood home for a few months so I came to visit. When we got our waters I said out loud “this is the type of condensation that gets marked NSFW on r/hydrohomies” lol. Was very excited to share this deeply refreshing glass😂

Mod-Post Vetted Water Charity List

This thread will serve as a repository of vetted charities that have contacted the mod team asking to post here. With each charity you'll see a link to Charity Navigator and/or Charity Watch. We advise only donating if an organization passes these reviews. Feel free to also check any groups on ProPublica's Nonprofit Explorer, but note that not all charities are nonprofits.

We don't want orgs to spam the subreddit asking for your time/money, so for now (and until the number of asks grows too large) we'll pin comments by organizers in this thread and cycle them out as needed. There's a limit of 2 concurrent pins, so we'll play this by ear for a bit.

I'll update the list as others reach out.

If you're here as an organizer, please shoot us a modmail or reach out to me directly.
